Sharing a Refillable Mug

Something is seriously wrong here. You mean to tell me that if your significant other is sitting beside you at the pool with a cold soft drink, and you are thirsty, it is immoral for you to take a sip of their drink because you did not purchase a cup? You must get out of the pool,get dressed, and go to the food court, or you will go straight to the nether world without passing go.

Give me a break.

I find it hard to belive that someone who spends enough time on these boards to have 2,500 posts, does not know what the story is on the refillable mugs.

This thread is seriously cracking me up...why is everyone getting so bent out of shape? There is not a person out there that hasn't done SOMETHING in their life they absolutely knew they shouldn't at some point but thought the rule was silly or just didn't apply to them. Can we retract the cat claws and just get on with happy thoughts?

Go for it....live a little dangerously....share a mug!! I swap spit with Dh all the time so to me it isn't a big deal to share a pop with him....Heck I've even had a few kids with him!!

Does anyone see anything wrong with my DFi and I only buying one refillable mug at our resort and sharing it between us. We will be using the food court very rarely during our stay. I know that refillable mugs are a hot topic here but all opinions are welcome (even the "moral police" ).

Refillable mugs are for one person. Maybe no big deal if you took a sip from someone else's mug, but anything more than that and it is my opinion that you are ripping off Disney. If one wants to minimize it, and make fun of those who prefer to abide by the rules, they can, but buying mugs knowing that more than one person is going to regularly use them is wrong. Not like murder, but not something that I would feel comfortable doing, and those who say that "everyone" or "95%" of people do this are totally off base and really should not speak for the general population.

No one is required to buy a refillable mug to get a drink. I would suggest that you buy a regular drink in a disposable cup if you don't feel that you personally will get enough for your money from a refillable mug.

As for the germs comment, I personally don't know what "DFi" stands for, so I don't know if I would feel comfortable sharing saliva with them or not.

I am the only one who uses my refillable mug. I just have a habit of accidentally spilling it into other cups in my hotel room, so I have to go back to the drink station to get more. Is it my fault that my DW and Children believe that they should be allowed to drink the spilt pop from the previously unused paper cups? Am I the only one who feels that there is something patently wrong with the whole "never ending cups of soda" for both kids and adults alike?
It just seems like such overkill and a tremendous amount of calories and sugar in a cup. One of those refillable mugs full of soda or lemonade gives you almost 1/3 of the calories your body requires per day! Research says that there 60% of Americans are overweight-obese and these kind of promos only add to the problem. Disney has dropped the ball on this one and should discontinue the program, IMO! If you love the cups, and take them home to put coffee or tea, Disney should just sell the cups without the soda.

Quite honestly...I will worry about calories, carbs, and grams of fat when I am at home. Not when I am WDW in 90+ degree heat after walking 12,000 miles and waiting in hours and hours of lines. Give me a carbonated beverage of my choice!

I do wish there was a way to get milk, then I would buy a mug for DS, who gets tired of all the soda he can drink on the first day, generally. I suppose that a large milk dispensary would be a difficult thing to engineer, though. As it is, I buy myself one and he buys milk.

We will be at AKL, OKW, WL, BCV our next trip.
I plan on buying 2 refillable mugs at each the AKL and WL for the four of us.
My DS will likely have his sippy cup with his juice and my dd and I will share one while my hubby has his own...
We are staying at the AKL and WL for 2 nights each. I don' think we will drink our $50 worth of coke in that amount of stay.

I don't even drink regular soda, I plan on putting coffee(for me) and diet soda(for my mom) in my refillable mug. I mostly drink water when I'm in WDW though.

But for those who do put regular soda in their refilliable mugs, who cares? People are on vacation and when you're in WDW, everyone knows there is no such thing as calories in WDW.

I could care less what other people drink or what they do with their refilliable mug.

DH and I have different caffiene fixes, so we needed two...one for coffee and one for Dr. Pepper. Oh wait...Dr. Pepper is outlawed in the greater Orlando area.
This last trip we were two rooms away from the furthest point at AS Music, and I didn't get around to enslaving the children to fetch me soda from the food court a mile away, so Disney got their money out of us in the soda department! I figured if my cousin can buy tickets for her DS who just turned 2 in January, I could pay $11 for a new cup.
And honestly, you smile about $3.00 bottle of water and $7.00 Hamburger meal,and think Disney is gonna go broke because of the .20 of soda someone else imbezzles? I don't think Disney is on the "cheated" end of this deal, do you seriously?!

AMEN TO THAT SISTER!! I bet I walk off way more calories than I consume when I am at WDW and we eat some really nice dinners and drink our fair share of "real" cokes. No worries here - I have the other 51 weeks out of the year to worry and think about what I'm eating/drinking.

As to the original topic of sharing mugs - honestly, I have shared my mug w/my DH from time to time and never even thought twice about it until this thread popped up. I buy a new mug every time we go - usually one for me and one for DD. DH will share a coke with me a few times during the week - he's just not a big soda drinker and never drinks coffee. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Now if they had a refillable mug for beer - you better believe DH would be all over it! Instead he forks out $5 for one from the gift shop
