I heard that people can share a Photopass? We are going very soon (Jan 30-Feb 6) but don't know how to go about doing it.
I did a search but it pulled up hundreds of threads with none that i could find dealt specifically with Photopass.
Thanks!

If memory is correct, Photopass sharing/organizing is something that is no longer allowed here between members

If you are inquiring as to how people within your own group can share photopass, that would be an entirely different situation.

I must be dense. Why would sharing a Photopass be a problem? My family went last year. We had one Photopass for the entire group - which consisted of three families. It didn't impact how we purchased photos at all, it was just a means of keeping all professional photos in one spot.

Why its frowned upon is because there is an exchange of money.

Like 5 people decide to share a photopass (they leave an envelope or something w/ the desk at the hotel). Then when they all get all the photos they want on there they register the photopass online. Then one person orders the disk and splits the cost between everyone else. That is where it becomes against DIS rules because there is an exchange of money between members. The one person with the disk takes it and makes copies of it to send to everyone else on the list so they all get the copies of the pics.

Personally I think its too much trouble and didnt see the point in it, but that is just me.

How silly and annoying would that be when you can walk up to any photog on Main Street and get your own. I must totally be missing the point, but I get why it would be frowned upon by DIS. No more posts from me. :-)

missy66... Most people that use photopass purchase the CD for like $100. If you have two families that do not know eachother sharing the photopass, then disney would not be selling a photopass to each family (which would get Disney $200). They would only sell one CD and then the two families would share the CD by making a copy once they got the CD home. If you are only purchasing a few prints while at Disney then it wouldn't matter...it's only when you share the CD that Disney ends up losing money.

ok, sorry miss66, i read your post wrong. after re-reading I realize that you get the whole CD/ money thing.

There were also quite a few times that the leader/organizer of the "share" collected the money, magically disappeared, and the people never received any pictures after their trip.

Would it not be ok to say share with Grandparents who are on the trip. If they were to go off and have picks taken of just the DGP's and then pics with the DGC and DGP's together. Would it not be ok to share the CD by sending the pics to grandparents or downloading it to their computer?

It's not a problem to share with other family members on the same trip. It's just not permitted on the DIS to share among strangers on different trips.

Okay I misunderstood the "sharing" part. Disney did however on my last 2 trips try to share someone elses photo's with me.:lmao: You might want to check your photopass before you leave to make sure your not missing any special memories and that you haven't been given someone's pictures.

Yes you can share one with grandparents, we are going later in the year and we have friends going too, we are going to share a CD, once we get home. I think it is just frowned upon when done by strangers because even though there are 99% of honest people out there, the 1% that isn't creates a problem.

But if its within your family or good friends then go for it.
