Shared rooms in DVC

My boyfriends family is planning to take a trip next fall and about 7 of us are going to go. We all don't want to stay in the same room but would like to have joining rooms. Do all the different types of rooms join together or only certain ones? I think the prime choice would be a 2 bedroom with an adjoining studio. We are looking at OKW since it is the biggest to begin with. Thanks!

In Disney-reservation-speak, adjoining means "near each other" - next door, across the hall, down the hall, etc. But I think that what you really want is connecting - a two bedroom villa with an inside door that connects to a studio next door, so you don't have to go out into the hall to go between rooms.

If that is what you're looking for, that configuration doesn't exist at any DVC resort, unfortunately. There are no villas that connect to other villas, like you'd have with some hotel rooms at the other resorts. You can reserve a two-bedroom and a studio, and you can ask for them to be adjoining so they're close to each other, but you wouldn't be able to get that connecting door inside.

Studios do not connect anywhere in on site DVC villas. At Vero Beach there are inside connecting ocean view inn rooms, so they are "like" 2 connecting studios, but that's the only place in DVC that that happens.

So what you are all saying is that I can't get a two bed room or a one bedroom with a connecting studio but I can get a "two bedroom" which is pretty much a one bedroom with a studio connecting but as far as points go it would count as a two bedroom.

If you book a one bedroom and a studio, you will use more points than if you book a two bedroom. You can request a two bedroom lockoff which consists of the studio and a one bedroom with the door between them. Then you can close the door between them from time to time if you don't want to be quite so open to each other. And the second bedroom (studio with a lockoff) would have a separate entrance and the kitchenette. Also, if you book a studio and one bedroom separately, there is no guarantee that they will connect.

Studios never connect to other studios (you may be able to get connecting Inn Rooms at VB, but not at WDW). One bedrooms never connect to one bedrooms. Two bedrooms never connect to anything.

But studios will connect to a one bedroom to make up a two bedroom lockoff.

Grandvillas don't connect to anything either.

One final note. If you book a lockoff two bedroom and decide you don't need the connecting studio, you can't just drop the studio. You either have to cancel and rebook the one bedroom separately or stay with the two bedroom.

There are also a few 3 BR units as it sounds like a 2 BR itself won't be enough to satisfy your wants even though technically you're be within the occupancy requirements. A 2 BR plus a studio will be cheaper than a 3 BR but won't connect though you can ask they be close. IF a 2 BR is enough and you want separate entrances, you'll need to actually reserve a lockoff which are usually the easiest to reserve overall.

And at SSR there are 3 bedroom TreeHouse Villas that sleep 9 for same amount of points per night as 2 bedroom villas goes for at SSR. THV will give you a bedroom with a queen bed, a bedroom with a bunk bed and a master bedroom with a queen bed and master bathroom. There is also an additional full bathroom. The living room has a pullout sofa that sleeps 2 and a pullout chair that sleeps 1.

At the Contemporary Resort , there are hotel rooms that connect, but there are no studios that connect at Bay Lake Towers.

The Contemporary Resort is not part of the DVC. BLT is part of the DVC.
