I know a lot of us have pets.....our kids.

Feel free to share stories and pics!

I'll start. When Shrek and I met we each had a cat. Unfortunately both of those cats are no longer with us, but we have a tribe of three now.

We are both actually dog people, but we like the option of throwing down some food and water and leaving for a few days, so cats fit our lifestyle better.

This is Magic, he was found at the McDonalds in front of the All Star Resort. "Pest control" was notified, and Shrek intervened! He fit in the palm of my hand when we got him! He is very much my bud! He has to be in the same room that I am, and this is his usual spot when I am on the computer...

Next is Frankie, named after Frank Sinatra, he has beautiful blue eyes! We literally opened the front door one night and he walked in and plopped himself on the couch! "Can I stay here?" :lmao: Here he is with his favorite bud, the lizard! They look at each other for hours every day!

And last is Baby Girl, or Peanut. The only gal in the house! And she is a princess! She was brought to us by a stray we used to feed. He laid her at the back door, just this side of death! We took her to the vet, and $350 later we had a daughter! ;)

She misses the screen porch at the old house, so I have to open a window now and again so she can get the neighborhood gossip!

So tell us about your pets! How did you get them? What are they like?

Beautiful kitties! Your Magic and my baby girl could be siblings. Did Magic have a Siamese mother from GA?

It's too late tonight, but I will try to post some pics tomorrow of the crew.

Kitties! Oh goodness, they are cute and cuddly!

I have a 2 1/2 year old yellow lab-hades hound mix....Her name is Bailey and she is the love of my life. Both of her eyes are half-blue/half-brown. One eye is blue on top, the other is blue on the bottom....so she has some obviously very unique features. I will have to get some pics up on this (new) computer so I can post 'em. She is a little bundle of furry, frightening love! Ooo, I love 'er!

We have a 10 year old Minature Pinscher (Min Pin) named Lexus. She's a whole 7 1/2 pounds but thinks she's bigger and human.

First she loves to sleep on her back under the covers at night, and if she gets too hot, she'll pull on the sheets with her front paws, pushing them down.

Next she's crazed about food, and she'll actually cry, with tears for people food. She loves food so much that even though she hates Buffalo Wing Sauce, she'll growl at you because she knows its hot, but cannot help herself from eating it.

She hates phones and web cams, it freaks her out for her to hear someones voice and not see them.

She loves having her teeth brushed and she'll actually walk into the bathroom around bedtime on her own free will.

I think the funniest situation we've ever had, which was also scary, was after Thanksgiving. We had cleaned out the refridgerator from left overs and placed it all in a trash bag. We decided to quickly run to the store for some fish and didn't want to throw out the bag until after we made the fish and could also throw it away.

We always chain her up in her bed, which is in the kitchen and we placed the trash bag in the entrance way to it. We knew it was out of her reach. Well we left and came back 15 minutes later and she had pulled her chain far enough stretching it to reach the bottom of the bag and then helped herself to some not so fresh turkey.

We of course panicked and called our best friend who is Vet who told us to just watch her. Well we paid attention to her actions all night and everything seemed fine. The next morning she was fine and we both went to work.

Around 4:30, I arrive back home and walk in the door, and something smells. I thought it was just maybe lingering smell from the fish or something, so I continued about my normal routine of reading the mail, etc. About 15 minutes later, I couldn't stand the smell, so I started to look for it, well it didn't take long. It was coming from the kitchen where she was still chained up. If you've ever seen "Daddy Day Care", the scene where Eddie Murphy opens the bathroom door and is just looking around like how the did that get up there, that was me. There was a mess all over the kitchen from both ends, it was on the lower cupboards, the refridgerator, all over her bed, it was so gross.

It took 2 hours to clean it all up and anoth 12 hours for her to feel better, but now we laugh about it because it was such a mess.

I'll post a picture later.

I hope of Lexus and not the mess.:)

Our BAby Barney!!! I always had a dog growing up, though they were never this spoiled as they are today...

Anyway Chris is alergic to dogs / cats and has athsma (sp)? He knows how much I wanted a dog for years and we said when we get a house we would consider it. Well Chris has been getting allergy shots for sometime now and they started giving him shots for animals a few years ago. Though his Dr strongly discouraged getting a dog - but if he HAD to - get one with hair, not fur. So we were pretty set on a cocka poo. We looked for a while in shelters - no luck.

Our neighbor got 2 dogs from a local mom/pop pet shop - so we looked online on Feb 25th 2007 - we saw Barney ( we had named the dog years prior LOL). We went to the store and fell in love with Barney in about 6 seconds.

I don't have baby pics of him at 4 lbs on my laptop but here he is.

And this is one of my favorite pics.

When we brought Barney home - he had a cough unfortunately. We found out the next day that he actually had pneumonia!!! He was so infected you couldn't even see his eart in the xray. Barney was never going to see the upstairs / bedrooms because of his allergies.

Well as soon as we found out - Barney's crate was upstairs right next to the bed. Barney HATED his crate from day one - he actually learned how to unlock it and get out... So it took a LONG time to get him house trained... .Anyway now Barney sleeps in between me and Chris and usually ends up under the covers.

FYI the pet store offered to take Barney back and give us a full refund. We would never have given Barney up even after just 2 days. They did take care of all the vet fee's.

Now he's a very happy 2 year old and loves his daddies!

I've been home for a week now after some minor surgery - he has to lay on my lap most of the time LOL!

We have good neighbors who have watched him when we go on vacations - or my MIL has stayed here when we go away without her. It always works out. I can't imagine this house without Barney!

:thumbsup2 Totally fun thread!

Everyone's babies sound so fabulous. We have 2 dogs and 4 cats. Not to mention DP insists on feeding the neighborhood squirrels. I'm at work so I don't have any photos of them on this computer. I'll post them later.
Vedder (kitty), Baxter (boston terrier), Noel (boston terrier), Schmuley (kitty), Pearl (kitty), and Ares G-d of War (kitty). They are the best and worst babies-someone is always causing a ruckus but honestly that's how I like it. :lmao:

That is the best adoption story I ever heard. Cats rock!:rotfl2:

and Tony-NJ Barney is adorable!

No pets anymore. We both had beloved friends, and they both (her's a cat, and mine a Yorkie) died tragically (accidents) so we just can't go there anymore. :(

We have adjusted. I think.

My babies!!!

Two kitties...

Moush (named because she becomes a pile of Moush in your arms)...

moushmontage.jpg

Moush was a stray that was found in late December by a friend of a friend who knew that we had just lost our beloved "Trouble" (my first son) to renal failure the day after Thanksgivng (which may have contributed to my miscarriage 1 week later). After many guilt trips aimed at Nelson (fine! if you dont want her why dont you just go put the needle in her yourself to kill her - yeah... I can be pretty vicious) he agreed. We picked her up on Christmas Eve, she is the love of my life and is so gorgeous (she is well aware of this) and so sweet ~ she sleeps on my back at night and purrs me to sleep.

Oola (she came with this name - but we liked it)

oolamontage.jpg

Oola was another stray that a friend of Nelson's found outside of their work. This woman took her to the vet, got all her shots and had her spayed (also gave her an abortion since she was early into a pregnancy) and basically handed her over to us. She even pd the $600 vet bill! She just wanted Oola to have a good home... She is so sweet... very loving (when she wants to be) she also snores, stinks up the litterbox like nothing else I have ever smelt, and farts... she is Daddy's little girl! I LOVE the smudge across her nose.

Unfortunately Moush and Oola do not like each other... well Oola would like to eat Moush but in order for that not to happen, they are kept apart... we luckily have a big living room with a door, so that is Oola's home...

Lily and I have a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named MikaBoo. She is 11 months and our baby! We actually researched small dog breeds before we moved to NYC so we could have a small dog in our apartment! After a lot of research, we found the cutest type of dog and immediately wanted one! We got her from a breeder and were not disappointed with her at all. She is the sweetest baby with freckle lips! We found the stereotypes of Cavaliers to be true, though. They get very attached to their owners and just constantly want to be with you. She even follows us to the bathroom! She also has been doing the silliest thing lately. Whenever I do crunches, she lays on my belly, and when I sit up, she expects me to kiss her nose. If I don't, I pay the penalty, because she hits me in the face with her paw :rotfl:

You can see a picture of her featured in my signature, as well as a ton more here:

Let me get this right. You WANT me to talk about Tolliver? Usually, people are telling me to shut up about our dog. :rotfl2:

Scott and I had been talking about getting a dog since we started dating. One thing or another had kept us from actually doing much more than researching breeds. We determined that we wanted a dachshund when we finally got one, but that would have to wait until later. And that when we got a dog we'd name him Tolliver after the Michael (Mouse) Tolliver character in Maupin's "Tales of the City" books.

In September of 2007, I got a call from my mom letting me know that Pasquale had died. Pasquale was my mom and dad's dog, but they'd gotten him right as I finished college and moved home for a while. So he was my little buddy, he slept on my bed, I taught him to roll-ver (when he felt like it) and I thought of him as "my dog". I knew he was old and not doing well. I'd said my final good-bye to him the last time I'd been home to see my parents. But it still hit me hard. Then a few weeks later, my mom called and told me that they'd gotten a puppy. And that's when I knew. I needed to have a dog again. So I started looking at breeder sites. There were a lot of pictures of puppies, but none of them seemed to be what we were looking for. Until, on October 31, 2007 I saw this picture.
Tolliver.jpg

And I just knew he was the one.

So, I sat Scott down in front of the computer, pulled up that picture, and said "I think his name is Tolliver." Scott was skeptical. He still wasn't sure it was the right time to get a dog, but agreed to go and meet with the breeder. So two days later we drove to Winter Haven to meet the breeder. She plopped him down in Scott's arms, and Scott looked at him and at me and said "awwww". It was love at first site. I said, "I'll write the check." Here's the picture from that day.
RobScottandTolliver.jpg

Two weeks later, we drove down and picked him up to bring him home with us. I held him in my arms all the way home. Two blocks from the breeder, he threw up all over me, and he was mine.
Here's one of the pictures from the day he came home.
Shoelaces.jpg

And that's the story of how we got Tolliver. Neither of us can imagine life without him. He's the light of our life, and having him around makes us happy.

All the kids are adorable!!!

I think Barney and Tolliver would love each other!!!

I think Barney and Tolliver would love each other!!!

Probably. He gets along well with other dogs. He spent two weeks with my parents' Westie when they were here for the wedding. Never a problem.

Im so happy that we now have a pet thread.....and I have promised Tony-NJ pics of our girls...

Here is Gabbie, the queen. She rules the roost. Gabbie just turned 16 and Jon has had her since she was just a baby. She was left behind in Jon's neighborhood at the time and he took her in and rescued her. No one never came back for her or her brothers and sisters. She's our sweet baby girl!
DSCN1617.jpg

You would never know that she is 16...she loves to run and play! And loves din din time and her treats!

And here is the lady in waiting....Drucilla. Drucilla was rescued from an abusive home. Drucilla is a sweet little thing and turns 11 this year. She loves laying in the sun by the patio door.
DSCN1618.jpg

Do Dru and Gabbie get along? yeah, sometimes. But Gabbie reminds her who is the true queen.

I love these girls..... my step daughters, but I love them just as my ture own and they became part of me when Jon and I married. Jon says that I spoil them too much! I hope that one day, WDW will come up with a true pet freindly resort...;)

Hmmm, current pets or pets of the past? :)

I've had everything from dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, hamsters, fish to even a pet skunk. Yes, a farm in Nebraska sold them as pets. They were de-stinkafied. Yes, looking back, having an animal like that wasn't a good thing.

I have a dog named Maxamillion (Max for short). He's a half Shar Pei, half German Shepherd. He's a sweetie, although slightly brain damaged we think. He's just a little off.

I'll have to try to post pics tonight when I get home.

I had a hard time getting a new dog a couple years ago. My baby, a show dog Chow named Churchill (Church for short) died after friends left him in 105 degree weather one afternoon when they were watching him for me, while I did an art show. Took me a long time to warm up to the thoughts of owning another pet.

Now I have my goofy, silly dog and I love 'em.

Ya our Frankie is a little off! But how off can a cat be who knows which house to walk right into and plop on the couch! :lmao:

So I was working in the yard today and kind of freaked! A hawk swooped down and grabbed a squirrel and whisked him away for din din! UGH Poor guy! I had to hum the Circle of Life to get over that sight!
