Hi! Just wanted to hear about your late arrival experience. Did you get your luggage past midnight, or did it arrive in the morning? Traveling with 4 kids makes it a hassle to pick up our own luggage. I'd probably tuck them into bed in the connecting room and just wait up for the luggage. Is there a time that they stop delivering luggage and just wait till morning? Thanks for your input.:goodvibes

When we arrived late we had the choice of getting our luggage as soon as it arrived (which meant getting woken up in the middle of the night) or waiting until morning. We chose the morning so we had packed pjs and toothbrushes in our carryon and the luggage came first thing in the morning.

DME no longer has any service, for luggage, after 10pm. So, if you tag your checked bags, and your flight is held up, you won't get your bags until the next morning. But, if your flight arrives ontime, they will grab those bags and get them to the resort. You should arrive at the resort about 70 mins after deplaning....maybe more due to the later arrival time. If your bags are grabbed, they would arrive at the resort up to 4 hrs later. That's nothing I would want to do. You could tell the luggage people at your resort that you want the bags held until the next day.
I'm just one of those people that gets nudgy if I'm arriving after 8pm. I would rather grab my own luggage at that point and not have to worry about its' getting to me that night.

Isn't the new policy that if your flight arrives after 10pm you have to get your own luggage, tagged or not as there is no one to pull it for DME.

That's the stated policy. Luggage that isn't picked up at the caroseul will probably wind up in the airlines' unclaimed luggage office and should get sent to WDW the next morning.

Luggage that's "lost" by the airlines generally winds up on a later flight. The airlines/DME has to have a system to handle luggage that arrives on flights after 10p, for passengers who arrived on an earlier flight. Those passengers are already at a WDW resort. This happens when a passenger makes a connecting flight but their luggage doesn't. Some routes/weather conditions an airline might not have enough fuel for a full flight. The airline can either bump passengers, profitable cargo or send some bags on a later flight. I don't think the airlines system is sophisticated enough to hold back DME tagged bags but that would make the most sense. The airline wouldn't incur any expenses in sending the bags to the passengers hotel.

Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:25 pm. I was told that DME would pick up our luggage since our arrival was prior to the 10 pm cut off. Since our luggage could arrive up to 4 hours after (around 1am), I would prefer for them to hold it till morning. Do I make this request at the DME counter or at the resort check-in?

at the resort when you check in. I would also let bell services know your request since they are the ones to handle its delivery.

Anybody arrive after midnight? I'll be arriving at 1 am; Will I have the whole bus to myself?

No, unless you are the only one on your plane. The busses aren't full and might have more than 3 stops, mine had 4 last year at that hour, but you won't have it to yourself.
