I was reading the thread about seeing your HS BF and since I didn't have anything to contribute over there (I didn't HAVE a HS BF....too geeky, I suppose), I came up with a twist on the "Where Are they Now" vibe from that thread.
My High School reunion took place two years ago about a month before my wedding. Since my high school years were somewhat marginalized...(I hung out with the smokers, drinkers and heavy metal fans), I didn't have alot of great memories. I wasn't exactly picked on, but just not noticed and certainly never asked to any of the dances or proms. People just thought I was weird, if they thought about me at all.
Well, the reunion was a blast...everyone else looked exactly the same (or a bit worse for the wear) and I looked completely different. I lived in NYC at the time, had just taken the New York bar and landed a job with a securites law firm. I was also to be married in a month to one cute future DH. NO ONE knew who I was...and I won't soon forget the people whispering "Who is THAT?" and the girls wondering where I had gotten my hair cut and my dress (Bergdorf Goodman...special for this occasion!)
In the end, I won the Most Changed award, which I suppose was a compliment...but all in all it was a fun evening. Was it a tad immature to take so much pleasure in showing off? Yeah, probably. But it was SO MUCH FUN. I have no hard feelings for anyone, and I actually had a great time. I was so glad I did it.
