Christmas ornaments are the best souvenir in my opinion. Relatively inexpensive. Something you'll get some joy out of year after year and they generate so many nice memories.

I'll add some examples of what I was trying tonight. Gotta use a tripod, really cant do it any other way. Set the aperture wide open (which looses some sharpness but I like the look for these kinds of photos)

I then added some light from another source. In this case it was my kid's viewmaster projector. Provides whiter light than any other portable light source I could put my hands on. Really shows the texture on the castle.
