I have very oily skin and I'm always trying new makeup. I've always wondered if paying more money meant getting a better product. I've finally found a great mascara that won't bleed onto my bottom eyelid:
Revlon Lash Fantasy waterproof with primer on one end and color on the other

Also found a great undereye concealer:
Revlon Colorstay Under Eye Concealer SPF 15 (it clicks on one end with sponge on the other).

I've almost given up on foundation since nothing keeps the oil away. I'm still looking for a great lip gloss that isn't sticky.

Any suggestions...........

I love Mary Kay & would recommend it to anyone!! My skin is oily and I have NO problems. I use all MK products. They're the best

I have oily skin and find the mineral makeups work well for me, especially the use of a finishing powder during summer. I do use bare escentuals but will try other mineral make up brands (which I can't remember the name).

Smashbox primer - it helps the foundation glide on and gives a really nice finish.

Philosophy's Face Cleanser - it just works!

Philosophy's Hope in a Jar for moisturizing/exfoliating.

Philosophy's foot cream (see a trend here?)

Lubriderm lotion for hands

OPI nail polish

I like lip venom over lipstick - it's a lip plumper/gloss. Tingly!

I am a huge Origins fan. Although when I started using their line of products for oily skin and it worked a little too well. My skin was seriously matte and became too dry! So, I decided on a whim to pick up Aveeno skin cleanser and lotion and was pleasantly surprised. Its made of soy extract and my skin really seems to like it. The difference in price is unbelievable :woohoo: . Not to mention I don't have to go to a department store anymore to buy products.
I also started to use Maybelline Lash Stylist. Once you figure out how to use the new wand, it gives your eyes a really cool effect. No clumping! Beware though-Waterproof means WATERPROOF! :umbrella: This mascara has serious staying power.

Check out Aromaleigh makeup. You can find it by putting .com on the end of the name. It's mineral makeup and is fabulous. LOTS of colors and works well with oily skin. And the best part....you pay about half of what you'd pay for Bare Escentuals.

I also use mineral makeup, once you try it you wont want to use anything else. ;) What is your beauty regimine? That might be the problem, if the ph of your skin is off that could cause you to be braking out. You might want to switch to all natural products such as burts bees too. Maybe you are like I am and have extreemly sensitive skin, and using non-all natural products make you break out??

I have bought so many brands of makeup and skin care over the years from affordable to "oh my goodness.. I spent how much ?? I recently found a mineral based makeup that really works great - and I found it off of a post here on the DIS. It is called Mineral Glitters and is very much like Bare Essentuals - but more affordable. Here is the link ( I hope I added it correctly - found it on their Ebay store. Good luck to you. http://stores.ebay.com/MINERAL-GLITTERS-AND-SKIN-CARE

Give the new Maybelline Pure makeup a try. It's light textured and goes on with a matte finish. Many people with oily skin like it.

If you are having trouble with a foundation color match, go for a department store brand. Then you can get a better match. In this case, it's worth the money. MAC and Prescriptives have many color choices and formulas.

A loose powder can help keep you matte also.

As for glosses, I love the Goldie ones from Bath & Body Works and Rimmel lipglosses.

BTW - When in Orlando, go to the Cosmetic Company Outlet Store at the Orlando Premium Outlets. They have such brands as Clinique, MAC, Good Skin, Bobbie Brown, Stila and others at discount prices. Some as much as 50 - 75% off retail prices.

Thanks for all your replys. I've tried Bare Essentials and it made my skin look too dewey so I sent it back. I use Aloette cleansing line for my face everyday and it cleared up all my acne but I still have all the uneveness that requires some kind of foundation.
I'll look into some of the others that have been suggested...thanks.

The aromaleigh is not like BE in this situation. It goes on Matte and you don't have to add anything to it to make it matte. Plus, they have great prices on samples. You can order several sample colors for about 2 bucks each with cheap shipping.

well even i have an oily face and this time i am going to try loreal infallible .ive heard its pretty good and they have a lot of shades.. good luck ... :thumbsup2

I looked up their website and the "free samples" is something they choose for you when you purchase something....unless there is something I haven't read. Thanks for the suggestion.

I found it! I clicked on the product and it gave me the option to order a sample. I think I'm going to try it. Thanks again.

hi there...
speaking of great makeup finds...has anyone out there found a great eyeliner that will not run down your face??? anything besides the BE products ??

I have been urged to try the eyeliners from MAC ... but not sure ...
I have spent quite a bit of $$$$ of several eyeliners but still no luck !!

TIA.

Best Mascaras: Estee Lauder - Illusionist (gives you that WOW look in a few strokes).
Christian Dior - Diorshow (Top of the line mega mascara - but dries out quickly)

Best Lip gloss: MAC (but very sticky)

This isnt make up but does help with make up. I started using Paulas Choice Skin Balancing cleanser about 2 weeks ago. I have always had extremely oily skin and my makeup would be gone within a few hours due to the oiliness. Also, I am prone to acne, clogged pores, etc. This cleanser has stopped the oiliness. My skin is so smooth and no oiliness at all. My makeup goes on and stays on much better. I recommend you try this cleanser and then the makeup will not be such a problem. Good luck.

I had some problems too and use an eyeliner brush (wet) and eye shadow now.

Ditto. When I had my makeup done for my wedding, the artist did it this way. My makeup stayed so well, I had to try it for myself. I LOVE IT and I will never go back to regular eyeliner. It's so much easier to put on, easier to control whether you get a light or heavy line, and when it dries it blends so well with eyeshadow.

My favorite topic :)

I also have very oily skin....the upside of oily skin is no wrinkles. I am going to be 45 and have a wrinkle free face and no sagging so be happy!

On the other hand to look good with oily skin takes a bit more knowledge of what you skin can handle and what it cannot.

This is what works for me:
To control my skin, I use Proactive in the summer. It does not dry out your skin but keeps it clean and controls the oil. I swear by their makeup removing cloths. there is no alcohol in them and they are pre moistened. I always keep some in a sandwich bag in my bag. Proactive also makes an oil absorbing gel that works wonders. They also make an oil free moisturizer which is spf 15, you can use both together and it works great. I have been using Phytoceane products lately and they have been great too. I like to switch every few weeks.

I also blot a lot.

For sunscreen I use Murad Oil free tinted sunscreen for face SPF 15. When you have oily skin you should not use higher than SPF 15 because there is more particles that will clog your pores (as per Dermatologist). You just need to reapply it more often if you re sewating or out in the sun. What I do is pack a small plastic vial (you can ask for one at any make up counter...it is what they give you samples in) and fill that with sunscreen. You will have plenty for your face all day without taking the entire bottle. So I clean off the old stuff with a makeup remover cloth then reapply new sunscreen.

Mac eyeliner is great...it's the gel based eyeliner and it does not move.

Prescriptives makes a new lipgloss it's called raingloss and it's waterbased. No goopy glop...it has a nice gloss and great colors.

Kiss Me Mascara is my everyday mascara. It is waterproof but not like the usual waterproof mascaras. It is unbelieveable stuff. I even wear this to the gym. I sweat and swim and it does not come off or bother my contact lenses.

For blush I just use a powder or a water based gel looks very natural.

I have also tried the mineral based powders and they make me look too dewey too and they have also changed color on me as well.

The thing with oily skin is less is more. The more you scrub and clean the more oil you will produce.

It's so much easier to put on, easier to control whether you get a light or heavy line, and when it dries it blends so well with eyeshadow.

I have done this for years! Ever since I went to a Mary Kay party and realized that using a "paintbrush" and water can be done with any brand of cosmetics to get a matte look that will last all day. Find a small cosmetic brush and get it very slightly damp and dip the tip on your eyeshadow. It will last until you remove it or - get it wet (Splash Mountain). I use a dark copper-brown eyeshadow for my liner (Chanel chaot sp??) - and I use it dry for everyday wear. Easy to apply and I can put on a very thin line and smudge it a bit. Works great, and isn't itchy.

I used to use Chanel mascara in copper, but they have discontinued that color. They have a mascara that is a gel that works great - doesn't clump or make your lashes stiff. However, it will not make "big" lashes. It is also kind of expensive ($20) - and I've been looking for something different for the past couple of years and have yet to find anything I'm really happy with. Almay does have a nice copper-brown out right now - but, the brush is odd (bristles in 2 different/alternating lengths) and it clumps easily. So, I'm still looking for a good mascara that doesn't have a curved brush, doesn't come out of the tube clumpy, and doesn't flake.

Folica.com has an eyelash brush that works great for removing clumps.
