Will the cruiseship provide stuff like Shampoo & soap?

Anything else provided like that?

What's the laundry situation? Any advice there?

Yes, they have soap and shampoo and if I remember correctly, lotion??? I always bring my own, so I don't pay close attention.

They have laundry rooms with detergent for sale, but I don't think they have dryer sheets.

They do have little shampoos and soap and stuff. I bring my own too though, so not sure how good or what brand they are. I bring the little Tide laundry tablets that come individually wrapped and you need to bring your own dryer sheets as they are not available.

The body lotion in the cabin bathroom is quite nice. I do not like their shampoo though....we always bring our own shampoo and conditioner. The soap they have is fine.

Bring your own shampoo, the stuff they give you leaves your hair like straw!

I used my own shampoo & conditioner because my hair is colored and permed.

My husband and kids used DCL stuff. I didn't really care for their lotion. If you have the detergent tablets (easy to pack), I would take them instead of having to pay for detergent. Take a few dryer sheets. They only have one iron in each laundry room so it stays busy. Some have recommended spray wrinkle reducer, but I've never tried it.

Hi catjammies.

There have been a number of "what to pack" threads, and one of the best recommendations I read was to bring along an extra suitcase by packing a smaller filled suitcase inside a larger one. With the additional suitcase, you can forgo doing laundry while on vacation. When you get home, take all of the family's dirty clothes to your local laundromat and pay to have everything cleaned and folded for you by the next day. This way you won't want to "Lorraine Bobbit" your DH when he asks you to scratch his back after you spend 7 hours doing the laundry 15-minutes after returning home from the cruise.

Yikes. I feel like Dear Abbey...

Hey Dear Abbey.

So what you are saying is that I should get DH to do the laundry when we return since he is too cheap to send it out?

Maybe your DH can teach mine how to do the laundry. And clean the toilets, too. Wishful thinking.:D

Well, I guess that's one interpretation. Another one might be to give him soiled clothes to wear until he understands the depth of your desire not to have to do laundry immediately after a family vacation...

Hi gassmandy.

And clean the toilets, too.

Why not use self-cleaning toilets? DH can find them in any public facility...

I have tried that. He just picks out his clothes and leaves the kids and mine for me to wash. Guess I will have to do it after all. My desire not to do laundry is not just saved for after a vacation, it is all year long!

Happy Cruising!

Actually they changed the shampoo/conditioner/lotion to an upscale brand, Thymes.

It may disappoint those that like to swipe everything with Mickey on it, but a good business move IMO. Better quality product... doesn't make your hair feel like straw. Even though the product cost is likely much higher, I'm sure they buy a lot less of it because people aren't loading their suitcase every night with it anymore. :)

Thank you for the information, Pugdog007. Unfortunately, any toiletry without "The Mouse" is - to me - a downgrade...
