Shampoo, conditioner ... Dispensers?

Someone in another group linked to this study about refillable dispensers, arguably a lot more likely than someone adding a strange substance to the dispenser. I know DCL said they would sanitize them but I do wonder how true that is.

You’ll get one in the terminal on your departure day. Once onboard ask to have the paper version left in your stateroom daily. You can ask at Guest Services and our stateroom host asked us.

I want my paper Navigator, I'm not one to carry my phone around on a cruise.
My husband likes the app., to each their own.
I hope I will still have the option to have it delivered to my room on the TA in September if I request it.

The dispensers won't affect me, I bring my own sulfate free shampoo and condition and my own Ivory body wash.
We had the dispensers at The Coronado, they were locked. I have a feeling DCL will switch to those after they hear from guests.

This was my question too! I've been following the discussion about the dispensers both on DCL and at the park hotels, and I was under the impression that it was H2O products in the dispensers. Did I miss something?

Also, wanted to add - all of us really need to send messages to DCL help center regarding both the dispensers and paper navigators. I know it can often seem that custom service doesn't really pay attention, but if they start seeing an increase in complaints they should take note and hopefully make a change. I agree a zillion percent. We bring our own toiletries but for anything reference-related, I want it all in front of me on a paper. And my favorite part of a cruise is being mainly phone-free. It’s bad enough we have to be glued to our phones to navigate the ride situation at WDW.

I emailed DCL requesting Navigators be in my stateroom for our cruise in April. I don't expect this to happen based on my email but I wanted to express my general unhappiness with this change. I also requested to not have all the junk mail left in our stateroom. I haven't heard back from DCL.

Scott from the DCL blog stated that on the Fantasy 2 weeks ago, you could request a paper navigator from your stateroom host and they would bring them every night. They had to go to Guest Services to request one the first time though. They were not out in the open either, you had to wait in line to ask. In the terminal, Concierge and Platinum guests were given them upon check-in, though others were apparently not given them. YMMV though.

While writing please consider including your thoughts on the new "buy a bag" program. It is not environmentally friendly at all. Disney, in addition to the pre-mentioned cost cutting/padding their pocket measures, they also stopped providing bags in the stores. You have to either buy a bag or carry your goods out by hand. They claim it is to be environmentally friendly but the bags they sell are not environmentally friendly. They are partially made from recycled material but they still are not biodegradable and once thrown away will end up in our oceans and landfills. I think they should go to paper bags made from recycled paper that are biodegradable friendly. Meanwhile I am going to bring a competitor's bag to use as my way of quietly protesting. Maybe I can find a paper one....

Right. We cruised early March and had loads of port and various advertisements left in our room every night that we promptly moved to the recycle can.

Unless its changed with the dispensers, you get both H2O and Elemis in concierge. Concierge additionally gets the H2O body wash and aftersun lotion.

Last year we had to ask for H20 and ask for the aftersun lotion. The body wash is now one of the dispensers that everyone is getting.

I know the dispensers are a hot button topic for some, but I can't bring myself to get too upset about it. I guess I've used enough of them other places that they don't bother me. I really don't worry about someone putting something nefarious in there. Life's too short to worry about that kind of stuff, but that's just me.

I really don't blame DCL for making this change. Now, these are extreme examples for sure, but I'm sure there are people that threw only partially used tubes in their suitcase just so their steward would bring them more (often multiple times, I imagine). I chalk this change up to yet another example of a few greedy folks messing stuff up for everyone. I rank it right up there with the people rolling suitcases on board with a full bar set up inside that ruined the previous carry on alcohol policy, or the ones dropping off endless things at guest services to have signed causing that to be eliminated. I will miss the little tubes, and I did always bring the leftovers home (though I never hid partially used ones to get more). I've been buying my own on H2O+'s website for years, however, so it really isn't that big of a deal for me.


Now - I am ticked off about the paper navigator though!!! It's funny, how we all find different things that push our buttons.

The only part available at PC on 3/23 was the cruise highlights/overview pages. The actual schedule for the day was not available in the terminal.

True, this is the accurate description of what we received in the Terminal. I guess our family didn’t need/use it that day and I didn’t notice the difference.

No. We cruised two weeks ago and got the paper ads, but no Navigators. The only thing "green" this is really about is the green color of cash...

Imo the few greedy folks messing things up are the corporate leaders at DCL. These cruises are so overpriced, that even if every single cabin got a dozen products each, it wouldn't hurt DCL's bottom line at all. I'm sure a small percentage abused it, but that is nothing in the context of DCL's profit machine, in which even a 3-night cruise for two people costs thousands of dollars.

You make a good point . I guess, for me, in the grand scheme of things it's just not that big of deal. I've used these type of dispensers at other (high end) hotels and B&B's in the past and never thought anything about it. But I totally get what you are saying. It does rub me the wrong way when companies try to pass cost savings off as environmental concern.
