Shameful behavior by Southern Select Villas

I'm gald she posted the name of the management company so we know NOT to deal with them. It seems to me that she had a contract which the management compnay BROKE & she should be compensated. This is one of the reasons i LOVE the DIS, the comminity feeling in sharing experinces, good & bad with each other.

Please send me via PM the info on SSV. Would love to know if people are having the same issues.

I had a relative who had a horrible experience with them and they pulled the same crap - threats etc. It is not libel/slander if it is TRUE!!

Thanks!

I've heard stories about every company---including The Walt Disney Company.

OP: any chance you can say why you deleted your entire post?

Just by a google search for the company it appears they have 3 bedroom villas and up so how could the All-stars have compatible rooms?:confused3

I would also think most people would assume the rental contract and the contract of booking to be one and the same.

The cancellation policy is usually not both ways.

I think the companies replies probably did more to hurt them that whatever was written to begin with especially when other posters have mentioned problems with this company also.

I think the threat of legal action was probably it even if she was telling the truth who wants to deal with it about a message board posting.

The best thing about the disboards is that everyone is free to have their opinion...even if you don't like it. I believe the response from the company may have only added credibility to whatever the OP had posted.

BETTYDISNEY-
I posted this on your original thread but didn't know if you were still reading it or not.
It is just my suggestion, but I would suggest that if you ever do get a refund check that you don't cash it. I am not a lawyer, but talk to one first. Cashing it may equate to accepting a deal.
I'm sorry this happened
Also to LauraSSV, The AllStars are great (we stay there every trip) but they are not equal to a home with a private pool with a lift which is what this family booked and paid a deposit for---where I come from, that's called a reservation!
I have to say you should have not said anything because what you did say made you sound worse!!!

But we are not discussing Disney in this post.

I believe the OP had a contract, paid her money due for the deposit, and had a reasonable expectation that she would have a handicapped accessible home to stay in for her vacation. Rental agreement in my mind does equal a contract. Also, If disney overbooks someone at the the French Quarters - they UPGRADE them to a deluxe, not downgrade them to All Stars. There is no reasonable expectation that the ALLStars are comparable to a 3 bedroom home and that those ALLStars are not to be considered as an UPGRADE, for the booking companies mistakes.

We have 4 Condos - and there is no way that our rental agency would allow us to put a "private booking" in the place of a paid for customer. We as the owner would have to deal with that "private booking" due to the contract with the rental agency.

I am not a lawyer either, but I do deal with real estate and contracts....a lot...and I would definately check on cashing a check equating toacceptance
of settlement of your problems.

LauraSSV: you've done more damange to your own reputation than a disgruntled customer ever could---to say that your post was unprofessional would be an understatement.

Betty: after you mailed your deposit check and signed rental agreement, did you get a counter-signed copy of the agreement back, or any form of written "we have your deposit and you are booked" confirmation? Does the rental contract have a clause in it concerning cancellation on the part of the owner/management company? If so, what does it say?

Yes, I did !

Then it would appear that SSV *did* have a contract with you.

Did the rental agreement or the confirmation contain any clauses about cancellation on the part of the owner/management company?

As an aside, asking for the difference to cover a DVC villa was unreasonable, IMO. Asking to be covered for your airfare change fees would have been a lot more reasonable.

Just so I'm sure LauraSSV would see! Also, DisneyBetty, check the ATTY Gen of FL website for yourself. It should have some good info.

Well, Laura it seems like you have alot of fans out there !:sad2:

See what happens when you try to bully people?

I'm very sorry for what has happened to you. I hope you can get everything straightened out to your satisfaction. This is why excellent customer service goes a long way...

If you would take a look at the end of your confirmation...

By her own admission, DisneyBetty, you received a confirmation. What was this confirmation of if not for a mutual agreement between both parties, that you would be renting this villa for the aforementioned time period? :confused3

See, I dont think that the airfare change is reasonable because I know that I just cant "change dates for a vacation" in which I have prior approval from employment/schools. Now, maybe a DVC villa isnt the compromise either. But there should be some restitution.
