Shaken, Not Stirred, With a Twist of Pixie Dust! A Food and Wine Trip!NEW! Pgs.75,76

Hey Jackie! I just wanted to let you know I started my TR for our trip since it's coming in just 10 days! The link is in my siggie, come over when you get a chance :)

Baylor made one last summer, but to be honest we can't remember for sure how much it was. I'm thinking somewhere between $20/$30....

That's about what I wanted to say as well just from what I remembered when I saw the prices, etc.

The Fisherman's pie and Cabernet short ribs and mashed potatoes look so good! And Grey Goose slushies are a MUST on any WS trip.

Yes, the Grey Goose earned a place on the must-drink list.

The photo of Charles asleep reminds me of MANY pics of my dad doing the exact same thing. My dad will sleep through a show and comment afterward about how much he enjoyed the show.

 Yes, afterwards Charles claimed to have watched Illuminations -- right...:lmao:

Glad to hear you had a good DIS meet. I need to plan my visit when some DIS people are there. US schools need to get on the same calendar!

I agree!!!

Happy Birthday Charles!!!!!!

Thanks!

Jackie, you made some tasty looking choices! There isn't a thing that you had that I don't want to try! Last night I was again talking about a fall trip.....

Your drunk story was too funny! I wonder what she had been drinking?
Charles looks so peaceful watching Illuminations....
;)

I would just love to be able to take a fall trip every year, but I don't know if that would be possible. Certainly not right now since we keep seeing our salaries cut due to budget deficits in the school system.

At the time, she had a beer in her hand. Apparently she hasn't built up a tolerance level yet. ;)

lickingthebowl.jpg

:lmao: Yep, that's the way to do it!

Happy Birthday Charles

:bday:party::bday:

If you guys were closer he could join the bowling party today......:rotfl2:

Thanks! Charles loves to bowl so he would have been all about that.

Yum...I want a French cosmo slushie...:goodvibes

(I think at the end of your F&W tr...you should do a drink summary ranking them according to their yumminess level/potency level...:lmao:

I love the ducks...maybe they are some of the duck children from Make Way for Duckling all grown up and seeking some libations...:thumbsup2

I love the idea of a Drink Summary -- that will be making its way into my final thoughts!!!

Too funny about the ducks!

I would have! You'll probably never see those people again! :rolleyes1

Yikes! :scared1: Forget being invited on another trip...I wonder if they're still together!

:bday: Charles!

I wondered that, too, about whether their relationship survived the Disney trip!

Thanks! He had a good day!

Happy birthday to Charles!

I can't believe the girl kissed the CM! :lmao: AND got a pin out of the deal...that just made the story!

I am with Dawn, there is no "often" with my dog begging, it is ALL the time. Sometimes he'll even lick his lips as he's staring. :rotfl2:

Thanks! Who would have thought that kissing random CMs would score pins!!! I have been doing this pin-trading thing all wrong! :lmao:

:rotfl2: Charles got a kick out of all of these, Shocker! I am happy to say that he seems to have weathered the change from 39 to 40 without any meltdowns.

YUM! All of your food and wine selections look DELICIOUS!

Happy Birthday to Charles! Enjoy your Japanese feast!

Thanks! He did have a good birthday! His sister even brought party favors over when we did cake. :thumbsup2

Hmmm that Fisherman's Pie sounds delishhhhhh! We rarely have seafood in my house since only my mom and I like it. You just made my mouth water!

Disney loaded down that Fisherman's Pie with lobster and scallops -- it was just full of pieces of yumminess!

I'm with Charles and gonna go for the Grey Goose Slush when we're there. But you keep mentioning those Dragon Berry Coladas so I know they're already on my list!

I have decided my favorite part of World Showcase is the drinks! :rotfl:

Happy Birthday Charles!

Thanks! He had a great day!

Yummy looking food and even better looking drinks!!! How great!

I LOVE the drunken 21 year old! Seems like an entertaining way to spend a few minutes!

Happy Birthday to Charles! Happy Japaneseing!

We were quite pleased with our food and drink that night!

We were rolling over that 21-year-old!

Happy Japaneseing! I love it!!! :lmao:

Happy Birthday Charles!!

I about died over your drunken Food & Wine incident you witnessed. This is why I have a strict two drink policy in front of my inlaws, I don't trust myself with more alcohol than that. Who knows what I would say or do.

I have to say that I was most looking forward to the Lobster & Scallop Pie....I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks!

LL, I was cracking up over your comment about drinks and your in-laws! Sometimes drinking is the only way to get through family gatherings!

The Lobster and Scallop Pie was one of the items I was most looking forward to as well, so I was glad it lived up to the hype!

THAT was a great post!!!! LOVED your food pics, We had the same fisherman's pie (we each got one b/c we didn't want to share!) and those short ribs and the cosmo's OF COURSE!!! :rolleyes1 I took my best photos with the help of that slushie.. or two... :lmao:

I am still in awe over your artistic Italy pictures!!! :rotfl:

Did I really see a photo of Charles LYING on the pavement??!! :rotfl: NOW that is funny.

Yes, you did. In fact, when he stretched out like that, I whipped out the camera and said, "Oh, this is so going in the trip report!"

Even more entertaining, what is up with that!!?? The girl and the CM smoochie... FUNNY.

Golly, CP, this was one entertaining post to say the least!!! :)

Again, even while we were witnessing that girl "collecting" pins, I was thinking, "Wait until the TR!"

Thanks! :goodvibes

Happy BD to Charles... :cheer2: 40 is a nice number. At least it is easy to remember! Hope you all have a good day and dinner! Sounds great! :thumbsup2

It's kind of hard for me to believe he is 40 -- we met when he was 23 and that doesn't seem so long ago!

Happy Birthday Charles!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! We tried to make the day fun for him, and I think we succeeded.

LOL I'm still laughing at that story Jackie!! I cannot believe that girl did that LOL!!! Yes I imagine EPCOT is a lot more fun when you're 21!!!!

:lmao: I know, right?

Awwww..I have to agree with you DISers are some of the nicest people!!! I really hope we can all meet up again!!!!

There is no maybe about it -- we will meet up again! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday to Charles!! Hope you guys have fun tonight at the Japanese restaurant!!!!

Thanks! He had a good day!

OOH - all that food and drink looks awesome!! I'm getting hungry - too bad I have NO IDEA what I'm having for dinner tonight!

LOVE the story of the CM-kissing 21 year old. :lmao::rotfl2:

and :bday:party:
to Charles. Welcome to the 40s. It's not too bad. If you don't mind gray hair, creaking bones and squinting to read the newspaper...really, it's great!

:lmao: Actually, Charles was already experiencing all of those "symptoms" of aging already, so he should be okay. ;)

I'm was so happy that we got to hang out that night. When are we doing it again???

Soon, Heidi! The sooner the better!!! I agree that next time we need to plan a dinner together! :thumbsup2

All your treats from F&W look so good. I can't wait to go down during that time again. The last time I went then, I was always so stuffed from the food plan I never took advantage of the booths.

That's why I decided we shouldn't do the dining plan on this trip -- I wanted to be able to eat, eat, eat at the kiosks and not worry about leaving room for a TS. Disney should implement a special Food and Wine plan that is just snack credits -- I know I would do that.

So jealous of your Dis meetings! I'm so glad that you got to meet TK and Heidi and had fun.

It was a really great evening with them both!

I wasn't hungry... but that update makes me think I need a snack. Yummy. Not sure what looked or sounded best.

That CM kiss is funny. Disney is fantastic for people watching.

Every time I do a trip update, I get hungry! LOL!

I am always amazed at how people act when they are on vacation...:rolleyes1 I wonder if people say the same thing about my family.

More Replies on the Previous Page!

Love the update. Too funny about the drunk girl.
Today's Charles' birthday? It's Emily's too! Small world.

Happy Birthday to Emily! November is a huge birthday month in our family -- we have four -- me, my niece, Charles, and my dad.

All of your food and drinks look great!

Too funny about the drunk girl!

Happy birthday to Charles!

Can't wait for more!!!!

Thanks! Charles had a great day. Tomorrow is supposed to pour rain, so I will probably spend the day updating!

Happy 40th Birthday to Charles!!! It looks like your day at the Food & Wine Festival turned out wonderfully!! And what a great way to end it--with a DIS meet!!

Thanks! We had a lot of fun meeting fellow DISers that I have talked to for over a year. It was like we had been friends all our lives!

Happy Birthday to Charles! I hope he is made king of your local Japanese restaurant. ;)

:rotfl2: about the Epcot style Mardi Gras!!

Love the pic of Charles "watching" Illuminations. Sounds like a really wonderful evening and DIS meet.

Thanks! I should have bought a birthday crown for Charles. LOL!

I think Charles was officially tuckered out at that point.

Yeah, he's definitely having more fun on this trip than on the last one!
He looks relaxed and happy this time.

I agree about Disers being nice folks. We've met only nice and normal, down-to-earth (so far ;)) people at all of our meets.

Hope you guys had a nice birthday meal!

Charles was very relaxed on this trip -- it made me wonder if the key for him is to go when it is cooler -- which has made my vacation planning wheels turn.

Well, MeMom, you haven't met me yet. You may change your mind. :rotfl: (Just kidding -- I think I come across as pretty normal. ;))

Great update but you sure are making me homesick! Those short ribs and mashed potatoes. :cloud9:

The drunk story is too funny. And even better is your reaction, "wait until I tell the DIS." :lmao: I had lots of moments on the trip where I thought the same. It makes the trip more fun to know you have people who will appreciate hearing the story.

Love the pic of Charles relaxing before Illuminations. :upsidedow Hope he had a great birthday celebration!

Weren't those short ribs amazing!!! I wish I could cook like that!

I was definitely collecting "gems of stories" to share with all of you!

Charles did enjoy his b-day celebration!

Happy Birthday to Charles!

Thanks, TK!

CP, I'm so loving this trip report of yours. All the food art! Yum, yum, yum. It makes me salivate, it really does. I swear, your posts should come with a disclaimer. Please lean away from your keyboard, as the photos and descriptions contained herewithin may cause copious amounts of drool. ;)

:rotfl: I was very proud of myself with the food art on this trip since I have not done such a great job on previous trips.

I love that drunk story. At least it's a harmless one, which is the best kind. Makes me think of Mrs. Doubtfire. Instead of a run by fruiting, it was a random kissing.

I make weird connections, I know.

:rotfl: I love the connections you make -- it's part of your charm! :thumbsup2

And let me say, I had a lovely time enjoying the WS with you, Charles, Heidi, and my fam. It was a nice way to spend an evening, and being able to watch Illuminations with you was just an added bonus. I really enjoyed that.:goodvibes

Ah, thanks, TK! We had a lot of fun hanging out together! (We need to coordinate dates again!)

Speaking of photos, I should probably e-mail you the two I have from earlier in the evening. On my camera, you and Heidi came out fantastic! Me, not so much. Maybe we could morph our photos together to create the perfect one. :lmao:

Oh, please do! I will email you the one Charles took of the three of us!

I can't believe that any photo of me could come out Fantastic. Nice of you to say that thou :goodvibes

Oh, stop, Heidi! You're lovely!

A drunk story!!!!:thumbsup2

I'm just glad it didn't involve flashing.

 Can you imagine??? I would have died!!!

Drinking around the world just doesn't have the same appeal as it did when I was....oh wait, I'm not 50 yet. So it does have the same appeal as when I was in my 20s.....;):rolleyes1

Sleeping and Dragonberry Coladas seem to be a recurring theme....

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Drinking around the world is still fun even as we get older -- we just know to pace ourselves better. ;)

Great update!! That Cosmo Slushie looks really good. ALL the food looks wonderful. I hope to make it to F&W next year. We are going in May but really want to go back for at least a few days in Oct.
Love the drunk girl story. Wow to do that in front of HIS parents.. too funny!!
Sounds like you had a great day & some great Dis meets:thumbsup2

Thanks! I know I have said it before, but I really wish I had a week off in October every year for our big trip -- it really is my favorite time of year at Disney!

There it is!! That beautiful Parisian Cosmo Slush!!

It is just gorgeous, isn't it, Tracy?

Oh my gosh I was laughing my you know what off about the drunk girl! I saw a few people behaving a bit strange but more so were people smoking....like anywhere in WS. I wonder if the rules are a bit bent at this time of year? Just a bit of an annoyance, and not something I noticed any other time of year.

We noticed that, too, on the next night we were there, but then, we noticed a lot of behavior in World Showcase that was better suited to Bourbon Street in New Orleans than WDW, but I am getting ahead of myself.

Happy Birthday Charles! Hope you had a great day!

Tracy

Thanks, Tracy. Charles had a good b-day.

You both look awesome. The camera doesn't lie.:thumbsup2

Ah, I knew I liked you, TK -- flattery always scores big points with me! :lmao:

OH CP.....I am ridiculously behind on your TR (and a few others), but I just wanted to stop by and say HI!!!!! I know I probably missed some great updates and maybe a Charles story as well. I promise to check back later tonight and get completely caught up! :flower3: I know you are having a fantastic time and I am too far behind on the fun!

And what????? I missed Charles Birthday.... Happy, Happy Belated Birthday Charles!!!!!!

Don't worry, Mary Ellen, you have been busy watching soccer!!! :goodvibes

Another great Epcot installment!

I have now decided that I MUST go to Food and Wine sometime...all that food looks just amazing!!! And the drinks...don't even get me started! :cheer2:

And a happy belated birthday to Mr. Charles!

Can't wait to read all about your adventures! :cool2:

Hi, Katie! You must plan a trip to Food and Wine -- it was easily my favorite thing that we have ever done at WDW!

Yeah!!! Another awesome update! That drunk girl story is hilarious, I bet her boyfriend was fit to be tied!!! Can't wait to read more.

Melissa

Hi, Melissa! I would have loved to know what her boyfriend was thinking during the whole exchange!

I'm not a seafood fan but the short ribs and mashed potatoes look delicious! That is totally up my alley. :) Yum! I'm glad you had a fun Dis meet. What a great night for you all!

Those short ribs were divine! The cabernet sauce just made them that much better! We had a great time hanging out with DIS buddies!

Parisian Cosmo slushie ......That looks amazing and I really want one....NOW!

It was as good as it looked!

Loved your update. All the food you picked looked so yummy, no wonder you skipped your Teppan Edo ADR. Food & Wine looks like my way to eat...just sort of grazing around the world. A few bites here, a few sips there.

It was perfect to share food all around WS -- it left plenty or room for everything that we wanted to try.

So funny that Charles decided to take a nap while waiting for Illuminations. I hope he woke up before the end of the show so no one stepped on him on the way out. Ouch! :rotfl:

Would have served him right if someone had stepped on him -- taking up all that space.

What a great day you had. Love the story about the drunk girl. She probably got drunk because she either couldn't stand the BF's parents or she was nervous around them. What a way to loosen up. Yikes! Talk about awkward!

Wonder how she felt the next morning. I'll tell you what -- I won't be quite as eager to take any of my children's significant others when they are older.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall on drunk girl's ride/flight home with the BF's family!!

Me too! :lmao:

Hey Jackie! I just wanted to let you know I started my TR for our trip since it's coming in just 10 days! The link is in my siggie, come over when you get a chance :)

Oh, I will head over there this morning! Thanks!

We just got back from WDW so I am catching up here!

Welcome back! How was your trip? Are you going to do a TR?

Waiting for more, more, more!

I have all this week off for Thanksgiving, so I am hoping to be able to update!

HUGELY JEALOUS that you get the whole week off..... :upsidedow

LUCKY LUCKY CP!!!!!! DS4 has montessori 1/2 day Tuesday and NO school Wed. We have school (public school) 1/2 Wed. So DS7 has school... The little guy is coming in to work with me on Wed so I can make an appearance. Then we are hightailing it outta there... can I just say 4yr olds and High Schools DON'T mix!!! Not if I plan to get anything done!!! :)

Enjoy your week off!!!!! I expect uber posting!!!! ;)

It must be so nice to know that this evening you don't have to start getting things ready for school tomorrow. ::yes::

HUGELY JEALOUS that you get the whole week off..... :upsidedow

Enjoy your week off!!!!! I expect uber posting!!!! ;)

Jealous here, too, but I will say that trading the full week this week for the fall break week wasn't bad. Of course, a full week fall break and a full Thanksgiving week would be quite nice. :)

I look forward to good updates this week, too. When you finish this report, you will have to go right into your pre-trip for next summer, of course! :thumbsup2

Ugghhh I want tomorrow off too....definitely jealous here!!!!! I don't want to go to work....oh well....I'm hoping for an easy week...we'll see how that goes LOL! Enjoy your time off and RELAX!!!! You definitely deserve it!

I am very much looking forward to the time off this week. Of course, it seems to be filling up already with haircut appointments, orthodontist appointments, and other such things, but I won't complain. I know we will have lots of time to just hang out together as a family.

No, I don't imagine four-year-olds and high schools don't mix very well, so good luck on Wednesday! :goodvibes

I second the "uber-posting" expectation. :rolleyes1

I shall do my best to be entertaining. ;)

I love it when you do all your comments because I know an update is fast approaching! :yay:

:lmao: You know me too well, LL! I am planning on doing a short update this morning. ;)

I love Matt at ESPN!

He was so attentive and made great drinks! :thumbsup2

It must be so nice to know that this evening you don't have to start getting things ready for school tomorrow. ::yes::

It is a great feeling -- all those things like laying out clothes and packing lunches don't have to happen today!

Jealous here, too, but I will say that trading the full week this week for the fall break week wasn't bad. Of course, a full week fall break and a full Thanksgiving week would be quite nice. :)

Yes, that's what I would like, too! :goodvibes

I look forward to good updates this week, too. When you finish this report, you will have to go right into your pre-trip for next summer, of course! :thumbsup2

I am so antsy to go ahead and book the next trip, but I know I need to get Christmas squared away first. Charles promised that we could book after the holidays, although he won't give me an answer on my latest conundrum. I have been playing with the idea of doing a week-before-Christmas trip next year instead of a summer trip, so at random times of the day, I burst out, "Summer or Christmas?" to Charles. He never gives me an answer. :sad2: In all honesty, I don't know if I could wait that long before going to WDW again. :lmao:

Ugghhh I want tomorrow off too....definitely jealous here!!!!! I don't want to go to work....oh well....I'm hoping for an easy week...we'll see how that goes LOL! Enjoy your time off and RELAX!!!! You definitely deserve it!

Do you have to work Tuesday as well? This is the first time we have ever had the whole week off, and I love it. As a teacher, I am sure you know that we weren't really doing anything on that Monday or Tuesday anyway, and half the kids were absent on Tuesday. This makes so much more sense to me. ::yes::

Before going to bed Friday night, Charles and I decided to sleep in and take our time getting to Epcot the next morning. I didn’t set a wake-up call but was awake at 7:30 and by 8:30 I was antsy to get going. So much for taking it easy.

We decided to drive that morning as Charles’ reasoning was we would be able to get back to the resort faster to maximize our afternoon naptime.

A little after 10:00 we were parking in Epcot along with tons of other cars that all seemed to bear Florida license plates. Once again the locals were arriving en masse to the Food and Wine Festival. (Oh, how I wish I were an Orlando local.)

I took a picture to remember where we had parked.

076.jpg

It was a beautiful morning as we entered Epcot!

Good morning, Spaceship Earth! (Charles laughed at me for taking a picture of SSE every time we entered the park, but I just couldn’t help myself.)

077.jpg

Good morning, monorail!

078.jpg

Good morning, fountains!

079.jpg

We headed straight to the Festival Center to do our souvenir shopping. We could hear all manner of giggling and an all-around good time being had behind the palm trees, and I joked with Charles that it must be the Jamie Deen lunch. When I peeked between the trees, I discovered I was right! LOL!

Back to souvenir shopping, we chose a glass for Chelsea (her souvenir request), spoon rests for our two moms, the Festival print, a magnet, and a cookbook. I took pictures of everything to share at the end of the trip report. Charles kept insisting he didn’t mind carrying all of it around, but since we were parked pretty close I figured we could just run it all out to the car. Having dropped off our purchases, it was time to head back to the World Showcase Promenade for some lunch.

Sorry, KP, we have our own mission to complete today. Someone else will have to help you save the world.

080.jpg

Sorry, Flavorhood, my ice cream personality is Strawberry Cheesecake, not Chocolate, Vanilla, or Mint Chocolate Chip.

081.jpg

On the Promenade, Charles and I split up. I headed to Greece to get the Chicken Souvlaki and Spanokopita; Charles headed to Canada to get Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup and Maple-Glazed Salmon (yes, he liked it so much, he wanted it again).

082.jpg

I was able to snag a table and soon Charles joined me. All of it was delicious.

Chicken Souvlaki

Spanokopita

085.jpg

Would we be dining in Italy this evening?

083.jpg

Next we repeated the Fisherman’s Pie on our same bench. While waiting in line this time, I snapped this picture.

086.jpg

Having taken the edge off our hunger, it was time to head to America!
