Shaken, Not Stirred, With a Twist of Pixie Dust! A Food and Wine Trip!NEW! Pgs.75,76

Jackie, I LOVE Chelsea's braces. Cute color combination.:goodvibes Is the TS 3D double feature still showing or was it a 1 weekend deal? I always bring Junior Mints to the theater with me. It just doesn't feel right if I don't.

Seeing that in theater again was awesome! You're right, the 3D really does amazing things for those films. Can you believe my mother had never seen Toy Story 2? It was even more fun once I knew that, because she laughed out loud at parts other people weren't, and I thought that's so great, because it was her first experience with it! :goodvibes

Glad you and the kids had a good time. :thumbsup2

Love the update!!! I would really like to go see this, but I don't see it happening. I wonder if it's even showing in our wee little town....

Oh, that gives me SOME hope. I'm not sure Henry would sit through it all either, or keep the glasses on!! Maybe I can do a "Mommy Getaway" at night after Henry is asleep.

Just checked. Not showing here. :guilty:

All well! I'll wait for Toy Story 3, by that time Henry will be plenty old enough to sit in a theater!!! :yay:

CP, do you know if your elves are coming back to visit this year? I look forward to reading about their adventures in your home....:goodvibes

Oh yeah, he totally didn't keep the glasses on! I kept checking to see what he was seeing, and the 3D parts were a little blurry without the glasses. I just hope it didn't hurt his little eyes! :guilty:

So I wake up this morning - far too early - and start thinking... did I just dream what I thought I dreamt? Allow me to explain.
I had a dream that I met our very own Charleston Princess!! Not that weird considering I had been reading TR's before bed. The weird part is how and where I met her. No, not at WDW. Here in Minnesota!! Our schools are closed today and tomorrow for teacher meetings (we call it MEA). So in my dream, she was here for teacher meetings. I am NOT a teacher in real life, but for some reason I was there at the meeting too! I recognized her from the TRs and started chatting her up, talking about her cute purse!! :lmao:

TOO WEIRD! I hope I do get to meet you someday! But I think I'd rather do it at Disney!!

Does he take a 'man purse' to hide it in?

It is not a 'man purse', it is a murse!

Love the TS pics - so cute! Now I can't wait for some CBR pics! popcorn::

I really want to see them! I wonder if I can talk my kids into going with me this weekend... :confused3

Denise

I hope you can convince the kids to go with you -- it was worth seeing!

I loved your Toy Story update. I have a question is there am intermission? I want to take Lexi but I am worried about her sitting the whole time.

Thank you! Yes, we had a five-minute intermission, but I have read others' TRs where they said it was a ten-minute intermission -- I guess it depends on the theater.

Sounds like a perfect afternoon. And Connor's shirt is cute.

Thank you! It was a lovely afternoon -- I am putting the Toy Story shirt back up until this summer when he can wear it to Toy Story 3.

See now I'm going to have to figure out how I can go see Toy Story LOL!!! What a great day you guys had I'm glad you were able to go and enjoy the movie!!

Love the army men and little green aliens taking over the movie theater candy...too funny!!!

I'm really looking forward to Toy Story 3!!!

Thank you! Yes, Jen, you should go see it! It was super cute and will make you even more excited about the third one.

I had a lot of fun with the LGM and army men.

Very cute post Jackie! Now I want to go too! Connor looked pretty good for feeling a little puny.
Just went back and read page 11, so I now know that Connor isn't feeling better today. I hope tomorrow is a better day for him.

Thank you! Now that Connor is on antibiotics for his sinus infection, he does feel a little better, but he is still coughing. I have to confess I am pretty tired of illness around here.

I love Toy Story/and Toy Story 2...:lovestruc...they definitely make my top 10 Dis films list...

Mine, too!

I love the little green men and the army men with the candy...and I noticed that they are the "official" Toy Story army men...Smart mom...:thumbsup2

Yes, they are a recent addition to Connor's toys. ;)

Now my dilemma is do I let my inlaws take David to see Toy Story in 3D or Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs this weekend while Eric and I are aways...hmmm....

I think I'll let them do Cloudy-I can rent it-but how often can you see Toy Story in 3D?:woohoo:

Now that you have to stay home this weekend, your consolation "present" should be going to the movies. ::yes::

Poor Connor-Sinus Infections can be miserable:sad2:-a couple days of the antibiotics should have him feeling much better...:goodvibes

He is feeling better now, but still coughing -- I will be glad when everyone is healthy again.

Yes...they have an intermission.

With lots of cute little trivia bits and outtakes. :thumbsup2

Thanks :goodvibes
Maybe we will do that this weekend.

You should -- it will be a nice escape from the cold weather.

Wow! I can't believe how much more grown up Connor looks. Tell him to stop growing! ;)

I do tell him to stop growing a lot -- he is getting so big! :goodvibes

Like I said on Facebook, Marc & I are going on Thursday night. I really want to go and see them, especially Toy Story 2 as I don't' own that one. Marc has NEVER seen Toy Story 2! Eeek!

Did you have fun? What did Marc think of the second one? I love it with the Barbies and all the nods to collectors!

Rob took A. to see it and they stayed for both movies. He said the same thing you did. I want to see it now!!

It was super cute! It's so nice to know you are at WDW right now! :thumbsup2

I thought the same thing! And I didn't realize Chelsea has her braces now!! Love what you did with the candy and toys!

Chelsea got her braces at the end of August -- somehow writing that check is not near as much fun as paying for a Disney vacation. LOL!

I had fun playing with everything last Saturday night. ;)

We also went to see the movies and enjoyed them. My DD was a little dissapointed though b/c she was expecting 3D like Mickey's Phillharmagic kind of 3D. The preview for A Christmas Carol had the 3D snowflakes that came out at you and made you think you could touch them. That is what she was expecting from the movies. She just kept saying, "I don't see any 3D! Where is it?". I couldn't get her to understand it. But we had a good time anyway. I agree that the color was awesome.

Poor DD! Wouldn't it be cool if they could make the Toy Story movies like the 3D experiences at Disney?

Awww! I wanted to see it! It didn't come to any of the theaters near us!! :sad2:

Oh, what a shame! It was very neat to see the movies on the big screen again.

What a great advertisement for going to see the movies!

You know me, Jordan, I love going to the movies! :lovestruc

Oh! I might have to do that this weekend!!!!!!!!

Maybe just Eric and I, Evan has a 24 hour long bday party...could be fun to do with just Eric. I love Toy Story and (for shame) never saw Toy Story 2.

Toy Story 2 is great -- a little more poignant than the first one, but still wonderful!

Those little green men crack me up. Who knew there was such a thing as cookie dough bites? I only look at the swedish fish.

I didn't know there was such a thing either until I had to find something to replace Chelsea's usual Sour Patch Kids (she can't have those anymore with braces). She said the cookie dough bites were good, but refused to let the rest of us try them! LOL!

Are Chelsea's braces new?? I don't recall them in the pictures on your last TR. Kendall has added hardware since our trip as well.

Yes, she got them in August. As soon as she is done with hers, it will be Connor's turn.

Awesome update!! As you know, we went and saw the double feature today!! I would agree with you--I fell in love all over again with the characters! I balled my eyes out during the 2nd movie when Jessie was telling the story about her former owner, Emily. Uggh! It made me think of how fast my girls are growing! :sad1:

I teared up a couple of times as well -- couldn't help myself.

I love the little green men around the junior mints!:rotfl2:

Yes, the LGM recognized the power of the Junior Mints! LOL!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I want to come live at your house! You make everything such fun! Love the little green men, army men and candy shots. And the Halloween decor looks great on the table- I still need to dig mine out. :rolleyes1

Sounds like a fun day at the movies. Hope everyone is feeling better by this weekend! :)

Hi, Christine! Thank you! You know I can't resist arranging inanimate objects on the kitchen table! :rotfl:

I had to get out all the Halloween stuff as soon as we got home from the Disney trip! I love Halloween!

Hopefully everyone can stay healthy for awhile now.

CP ! I'm so far behind I just found your TR !
Going to start reading now :cool1:

Lynn

Hi, Lynn! Don't worry! I have only updated twice so far! Another one coming this morning though! :thumbsup2

Lovely story. I still need to take Danielle. We stock up on candy before we hit the movies too. Who brings in the contraband?

Thank you! I refuse to pay $4.00 for a box of candy at the movies if I can buy it for $1.00 at Walmart. I had Chelsea carry it all in since her purse is so much bigger. LOL!

Wow....I really want to see the 3D Toy Story. I will have to take all my nephews. Too bad they live so far away. I loved those movies. I probably watched Toy Story I more than any other movie in my entire life time. I remember being so impressed with the digital animation. I can't imagine the 3D effects.

I am pretty sure I could quote the first one word for word since Chelsea went through a phase when that is all she wanted to watch. Such a great storyline and great lines!

Yay for ToyStory! We are looking at going too, Friday night! Great photos, looks like a fun way to pass the afternoon! Junior Mints and Popcorn :goodvibes

It was a lot of fun to just enjoy the movies all afternoon while eating away.

Two words: Junior Mints!

My favorite movie theater candy! :lovestruc

I popped popcorn, put it in a ZIPLOC and tucked it away in my lovely giraffe print baggalini! Then we stopped at the store on the way to the theater and bought drinks and I tucked those into the baggalini too. As much as I love theater popcorn that stuff is just too expensive right now!

You aren't kidding -- we bought two drinks and a large popcorn, and it was $15.00!

:thumbsup2 Great update! Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

I LOVE the pictures with the army men :rotfl: Classic! What great pictures!

Toy Story has one of my all-time favorite movie lines - "I've found my moving buddy." :lmao:

Thank you! Yes, I love that line -- and who could blame Bo Peep? :rotfl:

great update! I just have to comment on one thing - Chelsea's bag is SO CUTE!!! I was just shopping with someone who bought the same one with red trim and now I WANT ONE!!!
Gonna have to go see those movies soon too!

Thank you! She loves that purse -- on the June trip we had a bit of a knock-down when she wanted to carry it into the parks -- hello, that thing would have weighed a ton by the end of the day!

What a cute update! :) Love the little green men and the army guys on your table! :rotfl::rotfl:
Chelsea's braces look great! Love the colors! :thumbsup2 Wish there were fun things back when I had mine...I told my niece mine were wooden and she believed me!! :scared1:
Hope everyone is feeling better! :goodvibes

Tracy

Hi, Tracy! Yes, Chelsea spends as much thought on what color rubber bands she is going to get each time as she does on choosing clothes in the morning.

Did you see the trailer for the new one? I am looking so forward to June 2010!!!

I think I might have been the only 52 year old woman looking at the three new Toy Story posters in Walmart yesterday, too.

For the granddaughters, of course.

Yeah, that's it. ;)

Hi, MeMom! Right now you are somewhere at our favorite place! :lovestruc We were surprised not to see a trailer for the new one at the theater, but then they released the new one a few days later on the computer, so then we all had to watch it and do a little happy dance.

I will have to check out those posters at Walmart today -- for the kids, of course!

Oops, I must have missed that sign at our theater. ;)

I think we're taking the two older kids to see the double feature this weekend. It'll be a ton of fun. I wish I could buy one adult ticket and "adult swap" my husband and I at intermission, though. Someone has to stay at home with the little guy! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

We did have a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy seeing it this weekend!

Did they show the trailer for Toy Story 3? We saw it online yesterday - it looks AWESOME! :thumbsup2 I can't wait. The story writers at Pixar are some of the most creative people I've ever seen!

Surprisingly, they did not show the new trailer at the movie theater! We kept expecting to see it -- you are right, though, it does look like it is going to be just wonderful!

I LOVE the little green men and the junior mints!! That is too funny!

They recognized the true awesomeness of them!

I took my son (who is only 2) to see the movie on Tuesday. I knew we wouldn't make it through the whole thing, but he lasted about an hour! Not too bad! He loves Buzz and "Tata Head" so it was fun for him. I agree, I fell in love with the movie again. It was so cool to see it in 3D.

I hope your family is all feeling better soon!

An hour is good for a two-year-old -- Connor really likes Mr. Potato Head, too -- he told me he wants to get one at Disney next summer. I think it is the allure of the compartment he has in his back. LOL!

:rotfl: I hear ya! I think I have more Disney stuff than my little cousins. Oh well, what can you do?

Yes, that new trailer looks so great - I cannot wait!!

I can't wait, either! It will be a nice way to deal with the Disney Blues when we get back from vacation.

Nice sign, shocker!

I don't know if it's this way where you live Jackie - but around here, I guess they can't tell people not to bring things into the theatres. There was a theatre chain that got sued (cannot remember the name of it but I think it's national) because someone had food allergies and so brought their own snacks; I guess they weren't allowed in, raised a stink and they won.

On another thread a while ago, people were talking about what kind of food they bring to the movies. This one person said he/she has brought Chinese food before! :scared1: I guess no one said a peep to them!

Wow! I didn't know all that! We just sneak it in. LOL!

Ok, only two installments so not too, too late. :) How fun that you and Charles were able to take some time away to WDW. I'm glad he bahaved himself better on this trip. LOL! Can't wait to read more Jackie.

Hi!!! Yes, it was nice to just be two adults doing whatever we wanted on this trip!

:yay:

That's too bad that it's not showing in your town, Brook :(. Like you said, though, when Toy Story 3 comes out, Henry will be plenty old enough to sit through it. Chelsea's first movie in a theater was Tarzan, and Connor's was Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.

CP, do you know if your elves are coming back to visit this year? I look forward to reading about their adventures in your home....:goodvibes

Oh, I have no doubt those "darling" elves will be back this year. ;)

Jackie, I LOVE Chelsea's braces. Cute color combination.:goodvibes Is the TS 3D double feature still showing or was it a 1 weekend deal? I always bring Junior Mints to the theater with me. It just doesn't feel right if I don't.

Hi, Christine! Thanks for the compliments on Chelsea's braces -- she spends a lot of time trying to decide what color rubber bands to get each time.

I think the double feature was supposed to be a two-week engagement, but from what I have read, they have extended it since it has done so well.

Our theater doesn't carry Junior Mints so I have to bring them in from outside sources.

Just sayin'.......:rolleyes1
Shocker always carries in his own snacks!

We do these days -- that's for sure!

:thumbsup2

I bet that was so much fun to experience the movie with someone seeing it for the first time! :goodvibes

Oh yeah, he totally didn't keep the glasses on! I kept checking to see what he was seeing, and the 3D parts were a little blurry without the glasses. I just hope it didn't hurt his little eyes! :guilty:

I am sure it was fine! :goodvibes

TOO WEIRD! I hope I do get to meet you someday! But I think I'd rather do it at Disney!!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: That's too funny! I hope we get to meet some day at Disney as well -- I don't know as if I will ever make it up to Minnesota. ;)

Does he take a 'man purse' to hide it in?

CP - hope your family is feeling better. Facebook Trent for pictures from WDW. Have a great weekend!

I hope you are having a GREAT time at Disney right now!

It was a funny dream, wasn't it?

MeMom, he says it's a "murse" but he really doesn't have one.....:lmao:

:lmao: I remember that Seinfeld episode!

It is not a 'man purse', it is a murse!

murse.png

Very manly, Shocker! ;)

Love the TS pics - so cute! Now I can't wait for some CBR pics! popcorn::

Hopefully I will be getting an update up today! :thumbsup2

We headed right over to check out our room in lovely Barbados. It was room 1418 and right outside our door was a little courtyard. We dragged our bags inside, did what minimal unpacking we were going to do, and headed to a relaxing chair in the courtyard to review our options for the night.

005.jpg

007.jpg

We (I) had narrowed it down to the following:

Plan A: Go to Downtown Disney to get Connor’s Army Men, eat at the CBR food court, hang out at the pool bar and pool, and watch Grey’s Anatomy at 9:00. Charles nixed this idea almost as soon as it was out of my mouth. He informed that he didn’t come on vacation to sit in the hotel room and watch TV. Oh, the supreme irony of that statement!!!

Plan B: Go to Downtown Disney, eat at the CBR food court, check out the pool bar, and go explore the Boardwalk.

Plan C: Head to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I really wanted to do this, and Charles was willing, but would he be able to stay awake until after midnight? I was afraid of shelling out $120, and then having Charles get tired and wanting to head back early.

As most of you have probably guessed, we went with Plan B. I was okay with it since I knew we wanted to get an early start the next morning at Epcot.

We took a quick detour to see where the beach was located and how far Old Port Royale was from our room.

008.jpg

It wasn’t too far -- later on in the trip I would make the walk and it wasn’t long at all around the lake.

One of the many things Charles and I liked about CBR was its central location. We took the car to Downtown Disney and were there in a flash. We saw the character balloon up high and both agreed we would be on our knees praying for it to land if either of us was foolish enough to ever think of trying it. We explored Tren-D and World of Disney, found Connor’s army men and a pair of rhinestone Mickey head earrings for me and headed back to the resort for dinner.

The food court had a lot of options (and a lovely fixings bar), but Charles and I both decided on the Buffalo Chicken sandwiches. Holy hotness!!! Those babies were slathered in spicy wings sauce! I even asked Charles if I still had lips because I was sure they had been seared away.

010.jpg

After our super spicy dinner we needed something to cool off our burning insides. Off to a relaxing table at the pool bar to enjoy pina coladas and watch the sunset. Charles made me laugh after I was carded, and he wasn’t, when he remarked, “So I look way old enough to drink, but I am with a woman who is potentially under 21? What does that say exactly???” While we were enjoying the island ambiance, Chelsea started texting me -- this would be a continuing theme (along with multiple phone calls) throughout the trip.

With the sun down and the evening cool descending we made our way to the Boardwalk (after a quick stop at our room to change and discover the lovely anniversary card that had been left for us).

017.jpg

Neither of us had been to the Boardwalk to explore so it was neat to stroll around Crescent Lake watching the magic acts and browsing through the shops.

Our original plan was to hang out at Jellyrolls, but it was completely dead, so instead we went to the ESPN Zone where Matt (a wonderful bartender!) fixed us cranberry juice and Grey Goose. Delish! After awhile, we found a spot to watch Illuminations and then it was back to the resort for an early night. We needed to be prepared and rested for our first day of the Food and Wine Festival!

UP NEXT: My Favorite Way to Start an Epcot Day…

Sounds like you had a relaxing first afternoon/evening!
CBR looks beautiful and tropical.
The anniversary card is so cute!

Is Matt the same bartender that Jordan spoke about in his tr?

Hmmm wondering now about how often you were getting texts and calls from Chelsea.

I think plan "B" sounded like a very safe choice.:goodvibes I wish Jellyrolls had been hopping, I hear it's lots of fun. Were there any performers out on the Boardwalk?
The color scheme at CBR just takes you to the islands! Disney certainly attends to every detail in resort themes.
I can't wait to hear all about Chelsea and the phone calls/texts.....

CBR was very tropical -- it is so cold and windy here this morning that I wish I was back there!

I thought the anniversary card was just darling -- I love Disney's attention to things like that!

Yes, Matt is the same bartender that Jordan likes so much! I made sure to point that out to Charles! LOL!

We got A LOT of phone calls/texts from Chelsea -- thank goodness she had to go to school for two days of our trip! ;)

Plan B was perfect for us! We have/had (I don't know if it is still there) a Jellyrolls in Atlanta, and it was always great fun! Maybe another time, we will be able to go at Disney.

On that Thursday alone, we must have gotten about a dozen texts from Chelsea and about three phone calls. Charles said at one point it was almost like we had brought her with us.

What lovely pics of the resort! I had never thought about that resort as an option. It sounds like it would be a great place when you are driving.
