This may be a silly question but if you are staying in another Disney World hotel are you aloud to go into Shades of Green to dine??? If anyone has i'd love to hear what you think of the restaurants there. Thanks!

Food at SoG is just dreadful. Not worth a special trip. Breakfast isn't too bad though. As for the dinner buffet I think I'd rather eat burgers than go back to the SoG restaurant (Garden Galley) for a meal. Never again.

Evergreen's Sports Bar isn't bad--pizza and sandwiches. Again, I would not make a special trip here.

I have to agree. SoG food is not what I would call spectacular, although Mangianos does get good reviews. The Garden Biffets are most definitely not worth a special trip.

Non SoG guests do come into Evergreens frequently. I think it's considered the 19th hole....But it's a Bar, with typical bar food. Although I do admit, I got addcited to the teriyaki wings and the key lime pie.....

We actually ate Brekkie and Lunch over at the Poly when we stayed at SoG last month.

I would totally agree with the other posters....Loved the SOG....BUT......Food was terrible.

But , you can eat at the restuarants, if staying at another resort. (unless they got really strict)

I'll have to agree with everyone else -- there are no food options @ SOG worth the time it takes to get there. I really don't know why the dining isn't better @ the resort. We've been to other Armed Forces Recreation Centers and the restaurants have been top-notch!

Have to agree, Hale Koa and New Sanno are magnitidues better in terns of food options.

Another who agrees that SOG does not have food I would go out of my way to eat. Pretty right on the money to say the breakfast buffet is decent, but the dinner buffet needs alot of improvement. Never ate mangino's, so have no idea. I like Evergreens for the sandwiches, etc. My son likes the pizza, but I think there is too much garlic in it. The onion rings are excellent.

The only time we eat at SOG is due to wanting something in the evening. We enjoy the pizza! Sweetie and oldest enjoy the wings.

We ate at Mangino's the last evening for our Honeymoon. It was nice.....

Just to add, the food (other than bfast) is fairly pricey, especially the Dinner Buffet at Garden Grill. Its definitely not worth the price! I would go off property before making a trip here for the food.

My family loved Mangino's. The prices are great, especially when you compare them to other Disney Italian restaurants, and the food is terrific. Evergreen's is o.k. for pizza, sandwiches, onion rings, and drinks. We never tried the buffet. You'll need military i.d. to enter the property if you want to dine at SOG, except for lunch at Evergreen's if you're golfing on the adjoining course.

I am staying at SOG for the first time ever in Jan 08. I posed this question on the restaurants board and got quite a lot of responses.

I will probably try the breakfast buffet there, because it is inexpensive and I can't see myself driving into SOG from another resort just for the restaurants. I may even try Manginos. I mean...how bad could it be?

(famous last words, LOL)

I just called SOG. You cannot access the property without military ID, or visiting someone who is staying there. So now, I probaby will eat at some of these restaurants because it may be my only chance!

We have stayed at SOG upwards of 25 times over the years.

Garden Grill: It provides a no frills, cheap (compared to disney) breakfast buffet, fresh made waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, bagels, fruit (not such a great selection), yogurts, etc. It is reasonably priced (about 10) for adults and easy. They also offer plated breakfasts if you want fried eggs, etc. for even less $.

Have not had dinner there.

Evergreens: A sports bar atmosphere, the food is average, but again, cheap. Onion rings, burgers, pizza, etc. game room, bar, etc. MUCH cheaper than disney properties if you want a quick sandwich. Average.

Manginos is an Italian place only open for dinner. The food is okay, not great, not bad, in my opinion. Service is good. Price is a bit high but the menu is creative.

There is also a starbucks coffee stand and an ice cream shop. If you have military ID you can purchase donuts, iced coffee, sodas, etc in the military exchange and there are nice sized refrigerators in the rooms.

My favorite place for a quick and super cheap breakfast is the coffee shop down by the bus depot. You literally walk through it to get to the busses. They have excellent coffee, teas, etc. and the most delicious egg croissants (you can get them with meat too), fruits and sandwiches at lunch. A coffee and huge egg and bacon croissant will set you back about 4.00. CHEAP and so good! The women who runs it is really nice.

That's true if you are driving on your own, but IDs were never requested either on the buses( at either end, SoG or any of the destinations) nor were we stopped when walking back and forth to Poly. they never asked for ID when we had breakfast the one morning at the buffet either. In fact, I found that rather odd, as I am used to having to show my ID everywhere.

Our Routine was to grab a Bagel and a banana as we sat outside waiting for the bus. just enough to tide us over until we got to the parks. Their dessert display looked tempting too....
