Just wondering if anyone has advice on best rooms, time saving tips, check in tips, fun things to do, etc. on Shades of Green. We've never been there so I'm looking for some (ahem) veterans to offer suggestions. Thanks. :goodvibes

Don't forget to watch for gators! They have lots. I stayed there with my mom, and she really thought they were "Disney Gators" at first. I had a hard time convincing her they were real! :rotfl:

The rooms are really nice and have a coffeemaker and built in fridge. Be sure and know where the PICKUP bus stop is at each park. I don't know if it has changed, but when I stayed there the Animal Kingdom pickup was really funky and not in the same place we were dropped off.

I guess it depends on what your needs are? Will you be driving yourself to park, then the new section is closer to the parking garage, while if you are using the valet service than the old section is better (and closer to the pools), lobby, PX, etc. We valet, and prefer the older section it's just a shorter walk to the pool, Evergreens, etc.

It's a great resort, you will be happy with your choice. If you have any other questions, please ask :)

We stayed there for 10 days last April and are going back in November for a few days. Some thoughts:
1. We stayed in the older section, right off the walk-way and loved it - close to everything. I would ask for it again.
2. Pay attention to bus locations - if going to a place that you can get to by monorail walk over to the POLY and take it. The walk is only about 10 minutes and it is nice - they also have this little golf cart called the Shady Shuttle that will take you to the end of the property - we always tipped the guy a couple of bucks for taking us!!
3. We made the mistake of not trying the buffet to late in our stay - boy was it great - good food and great price!!
4. The shoppette has great snacks to take into the park with you at much less cost than what you would pay in the park - grab a few things.
5. Down stairs by the bus there is a little bakery type stand - they have great bagels.

Have fun- hope these little tidbits helped!!

We'll be staying at SOG at the end of the month and I'm really excited about it. We haven't stayed there since the whole remodel thing. I thought the resort was great before, so I'm sure it'll be a real treat for us.

We love SOG. We have stayed twice this year. I agree with everything above and wanted to add, Bring your own shampoo. Thiers leaves alot to be desired.

I prefer the older section near the pool. It was nice to be able to walk out the sliders or a side door and take a swim. Also, when the parking lot for the golf course looked uncrowded, I parked there.

My DH says it's the same soap and shampoo they provide at the BOQ's he stays in. He's a reservist and is in command of a unit that's 4 hours from home so he stays in a BOQ every month as well as sometimes on his two weeks Active Duty and he says it's the same everywhere. It's what the DOD buys. Low bid contract. :teeth:
