Will there be anyway if you purchase the Stars and Stripes ticket from Shades of Green to have it linked to your Magic Band/Resort Key? It will save us about 250 dollars to purchase them there but I want the convince of having everything linked to the new bands or room keys whatever they are using at the time.

If they can do it now with the mag stripe tickets--I don't know--then they should be able to do it with whatever RFID device is in use when you go.

All tickets will eventually be RFID.

Whether it can be linked to a MagicBand will depend on policy. We know they have said that MYW ticket holders will be able to purchase a MagicBand for a fee and use that. They haven't said much about other classes of tickets.

At the current time military tickets cannot be placed on a KTTW (Resort Room Key). There is no reason to believe that they will be able to be added to the Magic Bands.

What are MYW tickets?

We know that eventually the military tickets (if still being issued) will HAVE to be at least on an RFID ticket of some sort.

(If for no other reason than the FP distribution and return entry in the parks will be RFID.)

Once that happens, who knows if or why the "special" tickets could not
be "put onto" an RFID wristband.

Magic Your Way. It's just what Disney calls their base ticket. You can add things (like the hopper) or extra days, making it "your way"

That is what I thought but why would you have to purchase the magic band with those tickets? I was under the impression that all Disney tickets would come in the form of a bracelet once Magic band was put into place or is Magic band going to just be for resort guest? While I am on board with the Magic band concept I really wish that the info on how it works were clearer and hopefully once it is being used it will be.

Only resort guests and AP holders are to get MagicBands at no additional cost, currently.

All other tickets will be RFID cards.

From what has been published, both will do the same things (when fully implemented) with the exception of some customized experiences that will only work with the MagicBand, but what those are are currently unknown.

This is where things get super confusing. We are going to be resort guests (ON TUESDAY!!!!!) But we will be getting the Stars and Stripes tickets.
So, will those be attached to magic bands (at some point not this trip)? There are alot of unknowns still... and I think there will be for some time!

If you are SoG, probably not.

If you are Disney resort guest, you will likely get a MagicBand, but it is likely the S&S ticket cannot be associated with it, just like now where they cannot be associated with a Key To The World card. However, how the whole MyMagic+ thing will work in those cases is uncertain right now.

But as you say, it won't be this trip. Have fun though!

The MagicBands aren't in use yet. You may be able to convert your military ticket to an RFID ticket (so you can use the RFID turnstiles) but I don't believe we've heard a definitive answer on whether the military tickets can convert right now.

We are staying at AKL, so we will be Disney resort guests. Like I said, it's still alot of unknowns!! Hey Cheshire, do you know if we can convert the S&S tickets to RFDI?

:cool1: So close!!!!

At this time my answer would be maybe. It would not hurt to try at a ticket window and ask the person to use the "convert" function.

I know this is an old thread, but others may have the same question and this is a popular Google result! We just got back from traveling over Thanksgiving, and we were able to link our Shades of Green "Stars and Stripes" tickets with our magic bands. The SoG tickets had ID numbers on the back (had to scratch off part of it) that we were able to enter into the My Disney Experience app, and they linked no problem, and never had an issue getting into the parks with just our bands.

Were you also staying at SoG or were you staying at one of the "Disney" resorts?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting! I am going soon and SoG told me they didn't participate, as far as using it for the key, etc.
so my questions are:
1. Did you purchase the stars and stripes tickets at MWR prior to?
2. Where and when did you buy they magic bands?
3. Did the bands then work as your ticket?

Thanks!

I changed my reservation from SOG to POFQ with the military discount for our March trip precisely because we couldn't get magic bands at SOG. It was less than $200. more for an 8 day trip. And we have always stayed at SOG prior!

I purchased my stars and stripes tickets at our local base. They are the paper tickets. They have a number and bar code on the back. I couldn't get the number to be accepted so I used my smart phone to scan the bar code into MDE. Was able to link my tickets this way to my MB. I will be making my FP+ selections in the next few weeks.
