the price difference would be $400....it will be me, my husband and 5 yr old son and our first visit. im not going to be doing the dining plan cause i know we can spend less out of pocket i have priced all our meals.

i like the WL basically for the boat to MK and the fact that it is a 'disney' resort also the movies on the beach in the evening would be fun. but both rooms have the same amenities.

would you pay the extra $400 for WL or go to SOG?? :confused3

I would stay on property. There is something special about staying at a Disney Resort and I believe it is worth every penny!

Shades of Green is on property. Its next to the magnolia golf course and behind the Poly. Its a disney resort only for miltary and their family.

Stay at shades, the rooms are bigger then WL, and its tax free! Plus you have the PX and the ticket office on site. We have stayed all over disney and will continue to stay at Shades because its such a good value.

I meant in one of the Disney Resort with the extra benefits like Magical Express. (a resort that is Disney owned/operated)

I have not stayed at SOG, but love staying at a Disney owned resort. I do have friends that swear by SOG so I am sure no matter where you stay you will have a wonderful time!

You can walk from SOG to the Poly and go from there by boat or monorail, just like being at a monorail resort only costs a lot less. Rooms are huge and nice.

Don't forget Shades of Green has their own buses which go to the parks, so they don't use the Disney Transport buses like the resorts owned/operated by WDW.

We would stay at Shades of Green every visit if there was a decent place to eat. We have stayed there 3 times and loved the rooms but couldn't stand the food. If you are not planning on eating a lot of meals at the resort then I'd stay at Shades of Green. Otherwise, stay at Wilderness.

well shades of green is definatly popular...if they end up extending the military discount for r&r past sept 30th then i cant pass that up at SOG...so i guess we will wait and see. i am kinda leaning more towards SOG just to have more shopping money! lol

thanks for the help!!!!

I love Shades! We just came back from a week there and my kids want to know when we can go back. The rooms a big and the beds are comfy. Are driving or renting a car? If so, SOG guests now have to pay to park at the parks, so that does effect your savings.

I would stay at SOG over WL. Not even a 2nd thought about it. We have stayed at SOG since 1998. Last year we stayed a WL. We really missed SOG. The only things I can say bad about SOG is that they don't offer DDP, you have to make your reservations day by day now. You don't get the 180+10. And I am not to fond of their transportation. I can't really say much about their food, because we haven't ate there much. A few breakfast buffets and a couple pizzas and they were both good. Not fantasic. But the pizza is better then any offered on property. The rooms are huge. The property and resort are beautiful. And there is a Starbucks kiosk right beside the affes store!

My family who all love Disney went together a few years ago. Since DH is Army and StepBro is Navy, we all stayed at SOG. My mom and my Stepsis and her DH all who only stayed at Deluxes (CR, Poly, BC) all loved SOG and said they would stay there again. My mom actually stayed at SOG back when it was the Disney Inn. She said it is much better now then back then.
