I'm wondering if anyone has any advise...........
I made reservations at Shades of Green for Dec 12-20. Since it's closed we will be staying in the Contmeporary and when I reserved SoG said reservation would go through the Disney system and I would receive a confirmation letter in the mail. It has been about a month and I still haven't received anything. Also, my credit card hasn't been charged. Should I be worried?

We are in Australia which means I can't begin to reach SoG until midnight my time and I usually can't speak to a real person for at least 1-2 hours after they first open for the day. I really don't want to call unless you all suspect there might be a problem.

So what do you all think? Does it take 4 or more weeks to get a confirmation or should I look into it?

Thanks,
Tammi

Yes, I'd be worried. If I were you, I would call SoG, starting about a minute before 8am EST (you never know whose clock is right). Doing it this way, you shouldn't have to hold but a few minutes, if at all.

Ask for your confirmation number. If they are doing things the way they were when I left, someone is putting the Disney confirmation #s on the SoG reservations in the SoG system (something the agents can see, but you the guest, don't get....you're supposed to get your letter from Disney). IF you have a confirmation #, that does not mean you have a guaranteed reservation. I would ask the agent to put you on hold and call Disney to confirm they have your deposit.

Don't be surprised if they don't (from what you've written, it sounds like they don't) and don't be surprised if they're all ready sold out for that time frame. You may have to speak with a manager.

Helpful hint for the rest: don't wait a month after you've made a reservation to decide it's important you haven't received any thing in writing, even if you're on the other side of the world. Two weeks. If you have not received any thing in the mail confirming your stay two weeks after you did it over the phone or via email, then contact SoG (or whatever hotel/travel agent you're dealing with). This is YOUR vacation and you need to have your info in writing (I did it while stationed in both Korea and Saudi so, yes, I've been there and know what it's like to have a major time difference and no way to contact SoG via email). More than likely, things will go perfect and you won't need to refer to that info. However, for the times when things go wrong (speaking from experience), having that confirmation letter can make or break your vacation. Always, always, always get the name(s) of the person you're dealing with when you call. Write down the date, the time you spoke and what was said. If you're not sure what you're being told, ask again until you're clear. It's YOUR vacation. :)

I had a similiar situation recently. I was on the wait list for the middle of July. They called and had a room available. I booked the room but did not receive a confirmation letter. I booked the room the second week of May. However, they did charge the deposit to my credit card. I called two weeks ago and requested a confirmation letter. I still have not received it so I called again on Monday and they said they would send over to Disney. I believe the CR/Sog room confirmations come from Disney but SOG has to initiate the paperwork. I would be a bit concerned if they have charged your credit card. I would call, I know its inconvient, and I would also e-mail. Good luck. I hope it's just a slow response time on the confirmation letter and not a problem with the reservation.

I meant to say I'd be concerned if they has NOT charged your credit card yet. I hope everything works out.

I decided, after reading the post from First No, to call last night. I waited until right before 8.30 (10.30 at night my time) and got through straight away. I was on hold for 25 minutes, considering my past experience, that was short. However, that gave me ample time to clean the ink that leaked from a pen in my pocket from off of my hands, credit cards, coins, and everything else in my pocket! All in all, a productive use of my time.

I spoke with the rep from SoG and apparently Disney is way behind with the confirmation letters. I asked her to call while I was on the line and she did call Disney and they told her to fax the credit card info over and they would process it (apparently htey are backed up here, too). So, now I have a confirmation number and I should have a deposit record soon. So, given that, I would be prepared to raise Cain if I get there and they've screwed up. However, since we are going off season I'm sure they will have a room for us.

So, here's hoping.
