Staying at Shades in 2 weeks. Do they still allow those guests to park for free at the theme parks, they used to. Thanks

Unfortunately, staying at shades of green will not get you free parking for the theme parks. We asked about it last time that we stayed there and were told it was a change in Disney's policy and there was nothing that Shades could do about it.

More likely a change in the contract between Disney and SOG. That is definitely something that is spelled out in the contract.

All non Disney owned hotels on property have contracts with Disney stating what perks their guests are eligible for. But each perk is going to cost the hotel money. That's why only the Hilton at DTD offers EMH to it's guests the other hotels did not want to pay fir that perk.

The Swan and the Dolphin offer EMH to their guests. And they participate in the Disney Bus System. The Swan and Dolphin also offer free parking at the theme park lots. But they charge for parking in their own lots so that perk is a washout. I don't think Hilton at DTD has theme park free parking. Swan and Dolphin had the resort package delivery, but I didn't see it listed lately on their website.

SOG has the EMH for its guests. It has its own shuttle service but I'm not sure if it just goes to the TTC and you take Disney Buses from there, or if the SOG shuttle stops at each park. Someone else may know the answer.

You can get free parking at MK if you are departing from SOG and driving to MK. This is because SOG and MK are "behind" the same tollbooths. When you leave SOG there is a legitimate paved u-turn lane you can use on the left lane of the exit road just after you pass the Hess station. You are performing the u-turn "behind" the toll booths instead of continuing down the road and off to the other parks. You can see it via satellite from any source you choose.

Next tip, we have arrived at DHS about an hour before official opening and the parking booth has been unmanned on many, many occasions. We just drove right in and other cast members directed us where to park.

We have APs so parking has never been an issue for us, but knowing how things work may help you decide whether to us busses, your car, or the monorail from Poly.

AK and EP will always charge you the parking fee unless the CM sprinkles a little pixie dust.

Yeah I do know about sog buses. For epcot and mk itll take you to ttc and you take monorail from there. Good to know about the parking. Last time maybe 2 yrs ago we went to ds ans they charged my fil and he inquired at sog front desk and without prompt refunded for parking. So wasnt sure this year, i did see it on thier site too...oh well

I don't know if mentioned, we walk or take the shady golf cart down and walk to the poly and get on monorail, or the boat to mk, then can switch to monorail to transit or Epcot. Just for anyone who ever wanted to know, one day, we had an exhausted papa who just could not walk another step, and a sleeping 5 year old who was very heavy. We got of the monorail and asked for a taxi, it cost $5 to bring us to SoG and I think that was with the tip.

Anyone starting from Shades of Green and heading to the Polynesian, with the intention of heading to a park other than Magic Kingdom, should continue through the Polynesian grounds to the TTC, or take the monorail around to it.

Going from the Polynesian to the MK simply adds extra travel time - since all transportation between it and the other parks is at the TTC.
