After staying at HHI and having problems with a balcony that had NO shade for most of the day (it faced the morning sun), I'm wondering about our balcony at Kidani for our upcoming October trip. I LIKE a shaded balcony!!! I have requested the Sunset Savanna on the 2nd floor near the lobby. If I am thinking correctly, the Sunset Savanna will not face the sunset; it does if you are in Jambo though, right? Will we be getting a full blast of morning sun on our balcony each morning if we get our request?

Kidani is shaped as cursive E. The top is north. So the rooms on right side of the E are facing east. The kicker is that because the beads of the necklace loop some rooms could get morning shade where others would not. If you google Animal Kingdom lodge and scroll over to left to Kidani you will see that satellite photo shows many of the Sunset rooms at Kidani are in the shade, but we don't know the time of day.

I would think only confirmations from people on individual room numbers can give you the answer you want. Good Luck.

Just curious, as a HHI lover, could you share with us the villa you had there? I agree, staring into the sun most of the day is NOT fun.

We were in #1136 (a studio). It is in the lodge on the side that faces away from the rest of the resort. Many people have said they love the view from this side, but I did NOT like it. We faced the condos across the water (and the morning sun!). We could see more of what I consider the true marsh if we craned our heads around the privacy divider. Last year, we were in a 1 BR with a marsh view, but it was more of a tree view, but I LOVED it because it was shaded and secluded. From now on, we will be reserving 2 BRs so I won't have to worry about being in the lodge buildings again. This experience was enough to make me worry about our trip to AKV because being on the balcony there is something we are really looking forward to.

The rooms near the lobby are going to be facing East, more than the rooms at the end of the building due to the curvature of the building, so yes you are going to get some morning sun.
