I've always flown into MCO Orlando. This year my in-laws made the plans and we're flying into SFB Sanford/Orlando. Does anyone have any info to share on this airport? I'm hoping for less lines, less delays and unfortunately less choice in rental cars. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

We flew from Allentown , Pa. into Sanford last summer. It was a real positive experience. I believe we rented from Dollar and didn't have any problems. Good luck with your planning.::MickeyMo

That's exactly what we're doing...Allentown to Sanford/Orlando. we got a rate from Southeast of $69 going down & $129 coming back (T-Giving week). I'm hoping for less hassle than flying out of Philly. I'll check on the car rental with Dollar. Thanks again.

Just an FYI - even though the airport site doesn't list it - National IS on site at Sanford - the counter isn't inside the airport - it's outside in a kiosk in the parking lot with the cars.

We used them last November with great success - minivan for dirt cheap!

Thanks for the National tip. I'll check into it. I was able to reserve a compacy (Neon) through dollar at $119/wk with the vfget code. I'm pleased with that rate. Thanks again. :wave2:

Our last three trips were into SFB (two from ABE and the last one from AVP). We LOVE it. It's about the size of ABE. Security is a BREEZE, no long line. Checkin is the same.

We rented Dollar twice (best rates) and Alamo once (Disney VISA rate). I prefer Dollar, they usually have the best rates and very little hassle.

I would have to get a very good fare into MCO to switch.

Also, unless you leave from PHL you probably wouldn't get a direct flight into MCO from the smaller airports.

The drive to Disney is about 45 minutes and is VERY easy.

Our next trip (December 17th) will also be into SFB (from ABE). We flew out of ABE last year. We stayed the night before at the Hilton, they take you to the airport and you leave your car at the hotel - then they pick you up when you return. It was actually CHEAPER for us than parking at the airport - and with the weather we didn't have to worry about the drive to Allentown. I used to work in Allentown and drove every day - I know the NE extension of the Turnpike can be a little nasty in a snowstorm.

Have fun!

We've done Sanford several times out of Chicago/Gary.

A bit longer drive to WDW from Sanford but well worth the difference in $$.

Gary is so much easier than O'Hare or Midway with free parking, short walk to the terminal, small or no crowds.

Southeast is having a September special, so for $39 each way we'll be making an unscheduled weekend get-away!
