Hi! Sorry I haven't been keeping up; school has been keeping me incredibly busy.

I'm so sorry about Rufus  Losing pets is so, so hard. We had to put one of our cats to sleep a few years ago. She was 19 years old and she was my mom's baby; she'd had her since before I was born. It was so weird waking up the next day knowing that it was the first time in my entire life that our kitty wasn't there.

I'm glad you have trip preparations to keep you busy right now! We're doing our pre-trip shopping today. My mom is taking a vacation day on Thursday to take care of last minute stuff but I'll be in class so we're trying to get most of the stuff done today! I can't believe we'll be in WDW on Friday!!!

If I don't check in again before you leave, I hope you have an amazing, magical trip :wizard:

My poor dog is probably wondering what in the heck is going on.... every time I read one of your posts it makes me want to go find her and hug her :) I think it's a good thing that Rufus's last days were spent with you all loving on him and spoiling him! What great memories you have!

If I don't get back before you leave, I hope you girls have a GREAT trip. Be sure to take lots of pictures of all the bags in action!! You'll be getting lots of compliments! I even had a cast member chase (well not chase, we weren't running) me down and ask me where I got my Mickey UPB:laughing: Can't wait to read your trip report when you get back!

Ugh. I thought I posted something yesterday afternoon from our tablet (my PC thought it should stop working and DH spent the afternoon fixing it) but it appears that it didn't work. Or rather, that I didn't make it work :rolleyes1. Anyways, what I tried to post was a thank you for posting the pictures of Rufus. You can really tell how much he meant to all of you and each of you to him from those pictures. The one of you carrying him had tears streaming down my face and took me back nearly 10 years to when we made the same trip. It is never an easy decision but rest assured Rufus is now running along a chain link fence free of the pain and tumour. And I am glad that you are coming to terms with the decision. I think that is one of the hardest things to do afterwards. I'm sure that having last minute trip shopping to do yesterday made it easier on you and the girls.

I :rotfl2: at the first item on your list for today. I am currently checking DIS to pass the time until I rinse. I got my hair cut on Friday and when my hairdresser heard we were going on vacation soon, one of the first things she said was "You are going to colour it to cover up the grey before you go, right?" :rotfl: :thumbsup2 After I'm done, I am going to start packing and then work on my last project before we go - my bag. Time sure has flown by! Good luck on getting your list done!

D~ I don't know if you will log back on before you leave BUT it is time to say:

I hope you and the girls have the most relaxing ten days of your life! Enjoy yourself, you deserve it!!! There is only ONE thing left to say...

a little donald to get you in the Disney mood....safe travels, have a wonderful, happy, magical trip!!!!

check in if you can!!!

You are doing great! I know the pain is still so raw, but how awesome to be able to reflect back on the day and realize you'd made it! Here's to a new mercies each morning!

Christy

Thank you Christy! :lovestruc

Yes, your poor dog... I am sure she relishes in all the attention .

Rofl about your UPB... that is a good story. :lovestruc

I know, I was surprised to find that picture on the camera when we got home - I had forgotten that the girls had taken it. In all of our pictures of Ruf - there are very few with him and I - most of them are him with the girls. So, it's kind of sad that it's him and I at the end.

I did get my hair dyed yesterday - it's a bit more red than I like it - but it's fun, so I'll go with it.

Thank you Judy!!! :)

I am not sure how my ticker got "off" - but we don't actually leave until tomorrow morning. I hope you don't mind if I leave the decorations up until then though? :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time. . .we'll miss you while you're away!

Thanks Christy.

Have a magical trip!

Thanks! I hope we will! :lovestruc

a little donald to get you in the Disney mood....safe travels, have a wonderful, happy, magical trip!!!!

I totally love that Donald - he's so cute! Thanks for the safe travel wishes.

I know I said it above, I am not sure how it happened, but my ticker is off and I didn't realize it... We actually don't leave until tomorrow morning.

Today will be spend doing a whole gammit of things.

I am trying to whip up a simple laptop case... I got it all quilted yesterday, so I just have to put it together. It's very simple - no appliques - but I don't want to bring Josh's bulky one.

I need to shave my legs really good. TMI - I am sure.

I plan to do my toe nails and finger nails while the girls are at school today.

Both girls are staying after school today to do some of their make-up tests before we leave.

I plan to go to the bank when I go to town to pick them up - because I have yet to do that.

Josh also gave the girls some spending $$ for Disney - so I have to swing into Target and get, yet, more GCs. :rolleyes1

I have to do all our last minute packing, and organize everything we will still need in the morning, that can't get packed until then.

I need to haul all our luggage down from upstairs.

I need to post pictures of Alli's Dug wallet - that I was supposed to do yesterday.

I didn't go to Best Buy yesterday for an extra camera battery - I might try to do that sometime today... :confused3

Then I need to do the girls' mani/pedicures tonight.

I have frozen pizzas for dinner - so I don't have to worry about making dinner tonight...

I think that's it. :worship:

Okay, so I haven't TOTALLY lost my mind (well, at least NOT over that)! I THOUGHT you weren't leaving until Tuesday, then I saw the Ticker last evening and panicked I had missed my opportunity to decorate and send you off with a proper good-bye! :faint:

For some reason THIS cracked me up! I can't imagine whipping ANYTHING together, much less with your mile long to do list!

First on your list...remember to BREATHE!!!!!!

Keeping you in my prayers!
:grouphug::hug::grouphug:

Have a great trip! I have to tell you that you inspired me to drag out my sewing machine that my family bought for me a few years ago. I signed up for a beginner quilting class. I am almost done with my first quilt. Thanks so much for being an inspiration. Would you mind telling me where the video is that taught you how to appliqué? We are leaving for WDW on the 21 st and would love to attempt to make a t-shirt for my 10y.o. . We were signed up for a class to try the Disney Brother embroidery machine. The store called me and canceled because it was only my daughter and I. Their reason for canceling was that they weren't going to sell two machines to one family so it wasn't worth their time to have the class! I couldn't believe that one!

Again, have a great trip and thanks for inspiring me to attempt to sew!

You are going to have a great time.

I can't believe you decided to whip up a laptop bag.

Have a great trip...can't wait to hear how fantastic a time you had!

Nini

Thank you Nini! :lovestruc

I know, Josh told me I was nuts. LOL I've had this in the back of my head for a few weeks - but I didn't want to attempt a project while Ruf was sick.

I am so glad that I've inspired you to start sewing! Such a bummer about your class being cancelled - and how horrible that they are doing it just to try and sell machines. If you lived close enough - I'd teach you - and I'd never try to sell you a machine... However, I'd probably try and talk you into restoring a vintage machine. :rotfl2:

I learned how to applique from Heather Sue's most awesome applique tutorial

Please keep me updated on how your sewing is going! :lovestruc

You are going to have a great time.

I can't believe you decided to whip up a laptop bag.

I know... I am such a nut case sometimes... And slightly OCD. :rotfl2:

So... I've decided to add another checked bag to our entourage... Our 2 existing suitcases are busting at the seams because they are so full. I still need to pack a few bulky things in there (flat iron... Hair supplies... Make-up), so I've decided to just bite the bullet and add another checked bag at the beginning, so I don't have to worry about coming home with souveniers.

I've finished my laptop bag...

Off to haul all our luggage downstairs and disburse our busting suitcases into another one. No worries - I'll make it through today - it's still early.

On a somewhat sad note... Josh packed up Ruf's stuff today. He couldn't stand it anymore - he said he's had to stop himself from calling to him every morning to go outside. :( His bowls are empty and stacked by the sink to be washed. His toys are next to his picture and collar on the China cabinet. The flag blanket is in the pile to be washed. And his bed is in it's own pile - I think Josh is going to throw it... I begged him not to - but he said it just smells - and it's been smelly for a couple of months - he was due for a new one anyways.

I know Josh is looking at puppies - and I wouldn't be surprised at all to find a puppy here when we get home. I have mixed feelings about it... On one hand, we miss Ruf so much and there is just a huge void in our house and family. And on the other hand, he's only been gone for 3 days. I understand that Josh will be so lonely here with out Ruf - I've been left home on many occasions while Josh took the girls and Ruf to the lake - it's no picnic and it's VERY lonely - so I totally understand his need. But we are all hurting so badly, and we miss our Ruf. :sad1:

It took me two years to allow my family to get another big dog...and we still had two small ones when our German Shepherd died. I now wish I hadn't waited so long...

At least that decision as to 'when' will be taken out of your hands.... I really think that will make it easier. With a puppy it will not seem like you are replacing Rufus...just adding a little brother or sister .... if you were to get a full grown dog I think it would be harder...puppies are so cute and impossible to resist.

However, if he doesn't surprise you with a little one.... you will know when the time is right. (I had to be bribed ...but I was the one doing the potty training!!)

I know that this one has been a loooong time coming... I am not really blown away by it, but I do believe I captured his personality - so that is always a big win for me. :wizard:

love the wallet, very cute!

looks like you have a busy day ahead....I kept thinking you were leaving on Tuesday too...happy I'm not losing it :lmao:

hope Josh will wait for you and the girls to get home before getting a new puppy, I agree with you that the girls need to be a part of bringing a new family member home....when it feels right for you ALL!

good luck getting through your list and guess what.....TOMORROW YOU WILL BE IN DISNEY WORLD :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana::woohoo:

stopping by to tell you and the girls to have safe travels and a GREAT vacation. We will see you Thursday night!

Oh the joy of the day before Disney Dash! You'll get it all done. . .somehow, someway it always comes together:)

I LOVE the wallet. . it is so cute! Do you only/mostly use Disney GCs for the kids and avoid cash? Sounds like a good idea. . .it would help avoid over spending!:thumbsup2 How do you keep track of the balance?

I hate to say this, but I'm glad DH was able to pick up Ruf's things before you left. Now it won't be hanging over your head while you're away. I think it is a huge part of the healing process. We'll all be waiting to hear if there is a new baby when you arrive home. . .every person is different on when they're ready. I'm sure Ruf would be thrilled to know there is someone there to keep you company (NOT take his place)!

Safe travels, friend! I hope it is the Best. Trip. EVER!
