~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I'm going to try to post a picture, I've been having computer problems lately so I'm not sure if it will work. Here goes...
Isn't that the cutest????
This is so very cute.
Surprise!!! I finished it early... I got some good Gutermann thread for Mr. Rocket - and this turned out to be one of my best appliques ever - and NO swearing. :cool1:
This bag turned out really awesome - even by my standards. :wizard:
I do have to say - I had to take the pictures tonight - and I had no natural light - so the photos really don't do this bag justice.
I amtotally in love with this bag. It is just so happy looking.
Sorry V has Saturday School. I think I would contact her counseler with your concerns. You don't want V beating herself up over it. Kids are funny with what bothers them.
Everytime I come over to your PTR it is 2-3 pages longer. compared to your mine is crawling. :lmao::rotfl2:
I love both bags so much and the zip walletis just precious. I need to stop coming over here because every time I leave I have new ideas of what I want to make.:worship:
Having trouble typing with one hand since the baby i sleeping in the other. Talk to you soon.:cheer2:
Since I am printing off my Mini-Planner today, I figured I better get a move on posting my last few pages...
Day 9... I actually have 2 versions of this one, I think I like the first one better though. Opinions???
On #1 you can see your text better, but on #2 I like the picture better. Glas I could be of service in helping you decide ;)
5) I have NOT updating my TR in a couple of days and I feel horrible about it! I haven't had a minute to sit and make some more pages!!! Maybe today?
Yes, I've noticed!
OK,since this is MY ptr I will post my AG clothes here (for my other things you will have to look at Disbout). First up is my SS with a white t under:
AGZebra.jpg
And this is a long sleeved t with butterfly embroidery (requested by dd). I made the leggings by slimming down Easy Fits and the skirt is from an on line tut that required the 44". Even with the drop waist you can see the t bunches on it, otherwise it's really cute:
CHERYL: Your quote disappeared, but all the clothes I've made fit perfect. It's the AG label clothes that are snug!
Oooooooooo very nice. I don't have the simply sweet pattern, but it's similar to some of the other patterns. I guess it's the straps that set it apart??
Those easy fits certainly have some leeway for slimming down don't they (sort of like me). I like the skirt -- rick rack and all!
Whoops. I guess I'll have to get some AG labels to sew in my clothes. :thumbsup2
There are three strap options for the SS. Ones like I did with elastic, ties with no elastic, and the ones that are frillier with elastic (what I did on dd's Xmas dress on Disbout). I think the SS is the same as the strip work jumper which is why I never bought that pattern. I can make strips all by myself :)
I think I should have slimmed the easy fits even more -- I wanted tight leggings, but this will do for now.
lovin the new bags!!! you sure are cranking them out!
Thanks for the opinions everyone... I went with option #1, but I still printed #2, just in case I change my mind later. :thumbsup2
I really love this skirt - I just love the fabrics you chose! :thumbsup2
Actually, AG is quite nororious for having too small doll clothes, as a "cost saving " measure... The average person pays a fortune for the outfits, only to get them home to find out they don't fit a doll that never grows. That's why a lot of people covet the older items - they actually fit (and they are made with better quality fabric). As time goes on and AG gets bigger, they've become quite greedy, and don't offer the same quality that they used to. :rolleyes1 It's very unfortunate.
When you are buying outfits - the reviews on AGPT are immensely helpful - I always read there before I buy, then you know if an outfit is made properly, or if there are flaws you can live with, or not.
Ok, I SO WANT/NEED BOTH OF THOSE BAGS!!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc
Lynn
Thanks!!! :)
lovin the new bags!!! you sure are cranking them out!
Thanks, actually the Mickey one isn't newly made... I had made that one quite a while ago, but the zip wallet with it is new. :thumbsup2 Nowellsl just wanted a wallet to match her bag. :lovestruc
I plan to work on my next bag today - I have it all cut out and ready to go - I hope to have it finished on Thurs or Fri. :) Hopefully Thurs. :thumbsup2
I also want to start working on some of our customs, in between orders... So, I might devote an hour today to finishing Allison's skirt. :wizard:
Then, I want to make a list of items that I still need to make for us, for our trip. My head has just been kind of swimming around - jumping from project to project - and I really need to make a list, so I can stay on track. :thumbsup2 I also need to prioritize what I need to get done, vs. what I'd like to do. :lovestruc
Before I post my last day, I just have to say, I printed the MP pages yesterday, and they turned out amazing! It was a brilliant idea to print them at the photolab, because now they are durable vs. just on paper. Total cost of my MP (including the photo book) was $6 - not including my discount. And I just love it!
Anyways... Day 10... :sad2:
I will try to take pictures of the actual MP later. :thumbsup2
Okay I think this is my favorite.
I love Woody and buzz
I have both patterns and I'd have to say that I would not buy both of them again. There are a few very small differences between them but not enough to have made it worth it. Also the bodice on the stripwork jumper is tiny and much too small to do an applique on. I usually end up making it longer so that it will work for my needs.
Did you see the tutorial on how to make AG leggings/tights with knee socks?
The planner turned out great! Glad that it was very cost effective too ;)
How did Saturday school go? We don't have that here. We do have access to all the kids' assignments and grades on-line. It is easy to check up on them that way but I try not to interfere too much. I know some parents that are so involved in their kids assignments that it is just crazy! My dd has her algebra final this week. I hope she does well because the grade for this will be on her high school transcripts, which is crazy since she's a 7th grader.
My older son had Saturday School once. He was steamed, and apparently being senior class president didn't get him special treatment.
The previous week during an evening school talent show one of his films was going to be shown, but there was no projector available. Once of his friends either had keys (it's been a while so details are foggy) or the two of them "broke into" a room that had a projector. Result: one very mad kid and Saturday School as punishment.
Actually - Saturday school went well...
I just wish she wasn't so crabby when I have to wake her up early. :( There are mornings that I would really love to not have to deal with that.
Anyways, the teacher that signed her up for Saturday school was there, so Victoria was able to get some (nearly) one on one time with her. Just doing that one day of Saturday school brought her grade from failing to a C. Granted, we are very unhappy about the failing grade, but are not thrilled with a C either - however, we do understand that she has always struggled in this class, so a C is acceptable - considering the alternative. Which is really frustrating to us, since, if it wasn't for her Language Arts grade - she would be an honor student... She consistantly gets A's in Algebra and science. :confused3
Andrea, I know you asked me about her Language Arts and how the rest of the class goes for her... I will have to go back and read your post - because, some how I missed that part in my quotes. I apologize. :lovestruc
It's so hard when they struggle.:hug: My DD met with the reading teacher once a week until 2nd grade and now is being tutored every other week by last years 2nd grade teacher.
Glad you are finally posting on your PTR:lmao: The outfits came out great. I posted my AG pjs on the other thread. Maybe I should have posted them here instead and we can really take over D's report.:rotfl:
I love this one too. So colorful but it is so sad :sad: seeing the last day.
I think I have been channeling your work while I sleep/daydream....ever since you started making the bags I have been trying to get fabric together to make my self a Figment bag. I have spent a few hours in stores and online looking for Figment fabric, I have seen some, but don't remember where....
But you did such a great job on Figment, (ok, on ALL of them!!!), that I think I'm gonna give it a pass.
I have a Baby quilt to make, since the baby is 17 months old now! It's going to be a texture quilt with her intials made of different texture and type of fabric...and I think each seam of the different inital will have her name machine sewn along the line. Maybe not each seam, I have some great trim I want to use. As long as I get it to her before she is 2, thats still a "baby", right?
Can't wait to see the next thing you come up with! I'm waiting for your AG line to be picked us by AG and/or Disney...then all your trips to WDW could be a business write off!
Hello! I'm trying to catch up! I haven't been on the DIS in a few weeks :scared1:!
Phew It's going to take me a while!!!
I know, it is hard. At least your dd is getting the help she needs. :lovestruc
Tell me about it - I didn't even want to make it. LOL :sad2:
Athene... You need to stop by more often! :lovestruc You should make a Figment bag - I would love to see it!
The baby quilt sounds amazing. My neighbor wants me to make 2 baby quilts after I return from our trip... I told her that I've never made a quilt in my life - so no guarantees. LOL
It's great to see you Karen - I've been wondering where you went... Glad to see you found your way back. :)
So I wanted to ask you a question about AG's. I know this is a PTR but it seems as if more than me go off course here.:lmao:
My DD is 6 1/2 years old (as of yesterday). I have gotten many of the AG catalogues but have yet to buy my DD a doll because I wanted to make sure she is ready to take care of a doll that is almost $100. I have bought her the similar doll at Walmart by Madame Alexander.
How old were your DD's when you got them there first doll? Any advice? I do have a couple of simplicily patterns for cloths, so should I make a couple of outfits first?:confused3
I'm trying to get over to check on you more often...life keeps getting in the way! But our Tree is down, and allmost all the boxes are put away...
Quilts are very easy...just make sure the pieces lay flat, if you have any trouble use a foundation to sew your pieces on, like a crazy patch kind of thing...I use old fabric/muslin or light weight paper. I've seen old quilts with pieces of newspaper as the foundation. Depression quilts and older...
If you can make the bags, which are 3D,and the AG dresses which are very much more involved then some quilt blocks you can do a few baby quilts!
