~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
AWESOME Pics!! What a WONDERFUL DH!!!! Such a sweetie!
Andrea, I couldn't see your scrapes in the pics, that was some GREAT makeup! Are you healed now?
Thanks Judy... It's great to see you. :lovestruc
D~ doesn't matter what size one might be, if we all take on one day's outfit, we can all be a wandering group of very cute coordinated Disboutiquers Just think of the possibilities! Especially if Cheryl is bringing Ginger!
I get it now. :thumbsup2
OOOOOH!!! I know! We can all bring our AGs too! They'll need coordinating outfits though . . . but if we stick with mostly SisBoom patterns that shouldn't be a problem! SisBoom and embellished ready-to-wear clothing . . .
Oooh, I think this is a fabulous idea! :lovestruc You all are just the best! :worship:
Your girls wouldn't have a problem with that, right? I mean, it wouldn't be embarrassing to do WDW with a group of middle-aged women toting their AG dolls dressed in matching outfits around, would it?
Not at all... As a matter of fact, I think we better make some coordinated outfits for them, and bring their AGs with - just in case. popcorn::
We'd better get a move on, ladies! There are only HOW many days left until our trip???
Crackin' the whip!!!! :darth:
Applique is done - except for the gray portion... Now I have to run to town and get gray thread. Ahead of schedule, as of now. IF I could just get off The Dis... :rolleyes1
D~
Just stopping by to say hello. I'm all caught up on your PTR and I love the zip wallet. Can't wait to see your finished bag.
Your DH is great but I'm thinking that he is going to enjoy your trip to WDW too. I'm sure he will like having a female-free house but after a few days I'm sure he will be missing you guys.
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your brother and your mom. :hug:
D~ I'm so sorry about your mom, I know she is watching over you and is proud and knows you had to do what was best for you during those years!
how wonderful you brother has such a great family watching out for him! and that you got to visit your mom and all your family!
Unfortunately if you want to see Donald's boat you can't in WDW - toon town is gone...you will have to go to DLR!
Cheryl ~ we didn't go the sunwheel this trip - but we love the swinging cars!
Sunday we had breakfast with Minnie, did some shopping and spent the morning in DCA - rode TSM, saw santa, rode new Ariel ride, monster's inc ride, turtle talk, animator's academy - we drew DONALD!! and Soarin' before heading back to MK....rode a few rides, had lunch and wanderd around before staking out our place for the fireworks! SO BEAUTIFUL!
will post photos on my OCT TR hopefully next week!
Well, this one didn't turn out exactly like my mind had envisioned... If the interior fabric I'd ordered came, and had been the right color my monitor had said it would be... The bag would have been much better - IMO.
First of all, I wanted to show you all what Blyssfull did for me... She is such a sweetie!!! :lovestruc I can do a lot of things with my machines, but until I get an embroidery machine, it is difficult for me to write. So, a few weeks ago, I came up with adding some writing to Allison's bag, I contacted Beth, and she was willing to tackle my project - and get it back to me in time to finish for Christmas. I just want to take an extra moment to THANK HER - because, I know how busy I am at this time of year, and it was just really awesome of her to take time out of her busy schedule to help me out. :wizard: Not only, help me out, but Pixie Dust my girls, as well. SOOOOO AWESOME!!!!
Anyways, here is a photo of what Beth did for me:
Isn't that awesome??? She really did an amazing job! She was able to digitize the font I'd wanted to use, and really tweek it to fit the bag perfectly. I seriously couldn't have done this with out her... :woohoo: So, again...
Thank you Beth!!
OK, for the rest of the bag...
I just want to add something...
I realize that this bag could be scary to some smaller children - and I just want everyone to know that this is something that I am conscious of, and if we appear to be freightening anyone, we will definately turn the bag around. :lovestruc We want WDW to be a happy place for everyone. :lovestruc
The bag turned out great! I am sure your dd will just love it. I really like the skeleton fabric inside the bag. It really adds to the whole bag. You'll have to get some good pictures of the girls opening the presents on Christmas!
:worship: Hooray for Blyssful and the bag looks great!
Whoops. I didn't mean to cut off all of the pictures, but you probably remember what it looks like. :thumbsup2
Thanks for the compliments on the bag... I know that Allison's bag is a bit "out there" - but she is more into creepy than anyone I know - she definately doesn't get it from me, because I am the biggest scaredy cat ever. I am sooo excited for the girls to open them though, and I hope they won't be too embarassed to carry them around the parks, I also really hope they use them as carry-ons too, since I kind of made them with that in mind.
Josh was kind enough to help me wrap gifts yesterday. I was feeling quite overwhelmed. We've always done a "same amount of gifts, but not necessarily the same amount spent" on the girls, because when they were little, that's how they saw equality. This year, we are doing "not the same amount of gifts, but the same amount was spent" - because I think they will finally get that, thankfully, because I was about to go batty counting to make everything even. :rolleyes1
We have decided to do Take-n-Bake pizzas for Christmas Eve dinner, and then I am making my Trifle - that I haven't made in a few years. The minute I mentioned it, the family went wild. The cream sauce takes FOREVER to make though - like an hour of standing at the stove stirring constantly. But it's delicious when it's done. I was just looking through my past holiday pictures, and discovered that the last time I made my Trifle was Christmas of 2008 - WOW - no wonder the family was excited when I mentioned it.
aCIMG4169.jpg
Then Josh got a prime-rib roast for Christmas Day dinner - which is something really extravagant for us. We decided that since we were staying home this year, and had no plans with family, that we'd spend the gas $$ that we normally use, on a really nice dinner. Josh is also making home made au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms and home made bread pudding. I was really pleased with this menu, besides the prime-rib roast (that Josh already purchased), I only have about 10 things on my grocery list to buy... The most expensive thing is the take-n-bakes. LOL
I work today and tomorrow... Booooooo.... LOL Oh well, gotta rake in the dough. :woohoo:
I also starting designing an accessory last night. It's something that I've been looking for FOREVER - I wanted one badly for our trip to The Netherlands last spring, and I have been able find a pattern for it, but ithere are very few out there and they are all missing details that I feel are important. So, I made a mock-up last night, and for a first try, I feel pretty good about it. Hopefully, I will be able to work on it intermittantly over the next few weeks - in between projects - and have something fun to show you all. :wizard:
I was laying in bed this morning, and thinking to myself... I have so many projects that I would like to make for our trip, and we leave in a little over 2 months. I don't know how I am going to finish them all??? I've been thinking about closing my Etsy store on Feb 1, so I can work exclusively on our trip stuff for the last month before we go. Which only leaves me a little more than a month to earn the last bit of $$ for our trip. :eek: :eek: :eek:
Sorry for all the rambling this morning... :rolleyes1
You know how sometimes you just get a song stuck in your head, and throughout the day you keep humming it to yourself? As much as you try to get rid of it it keeps reappearing? Going around and around in your head.
:rockband:
"She wore an itsy bisty teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini . . . ."
Since it's Disney, should we make then red polka dots?
How 'bout Lilo mumus instead? Too many sit ups would be involved into getting me to look decent in a bikini. If D thinks her bag would scare kids wait til the kiddos see my flabby belly!
You are going to have some happy girls this Christmas!!! The bag is great.
We always do the spend the same amount thing -- always have and just always tell the kids every year that one may have more gifts than the other. This year my son is getting a $500 aquarium so you can imagine that dd has about 4x as many gifts to open on Christmas Eve and then her birthday is the next day! I have all my presents wrapped except for one thing from Amazon that didn't come yet (and no big deal if it doesn't come though I ordered it well over a week ago and got part of the shipment already).
I am thinking of doing a beef tenderloin for Xmas but only three of us eat beef -- my dh and kids don't do red meat. I was trying to find a small one since they are so pricey -- not sure I can justify $25+ per person and then have to make turkey for the rest of the family. I am going shopping tomorrow so will have to decide by then.
I am super excited... I just did a count of my Disney Gift cards, and then I figured out how much I have to spend this week on more Disney Gift cards... I am only $30 short on paying off my trip in full!!!! :cool1:
Still gotta save up enough to add 8 days to all of our park tickets though... :worship: So, I am not totally done.
I just have to say, even though I didn't exactly earn the $$ the way I'd intended (less doll outfits, more bags) - I am very proud of myself for reaching my goal thus far. And, of course, DH purchasing our airfare for Christmas helped out a lot! :thumbsup2
I also want to thank all of you for cheering me on and keeping me motivated... All of these projects were finished because I have always been so excited to come on The Dis and show you all! :grouphug:
But wait... This PTR isn't nearly done... Lotsa sewin' left to do! :thumbsup2 Park tickets, extra food, souveniers... I'll be creating until I have to hop on the plane. :surfweb:
FANTASTIC! Maybe I need to set up some sort of goal like that to get mine paid for......
Oh Cheryl!!!:lmao:
Although Andrea's idea of Lilo mumus got me thinking . . . I bet the Portrait Peasant or the SisBoom Meagan could be modified to a very cute mumu that hides any unpleasant rolls one might have yet still look fantastic!
:cool1:for almost reaching your goal!!!:cool1:
And what do you mean "until you hop on the plane" ??? C'mon D~ . . . wasn't it you that suggested I take a hand-crank machine with me and sew on my trip down to Disney? I'm thinking Patience would appreciate going with you even if she can't take her electric hook up and would gladly work on the plane on the way down if you needed her to :)
It was helpful - especially in the beginning - like, when you only have $100 saved up for your trip and you still have $2400 to go... LOL It's really hard, at that point to not give up and use the $$ elsewhere because it just seems so daunting. :lovestruc
ROFL... For sure... I prefer the Oliver & S Icecream Dress myself - although, it may give the illusion of pregnancy if you are not careful... :confused3
Yes, that was me suggesting that... but you, m' dear, were DRIVING - I'll be flying... I fear Patience's weight problem might be an issue for those fold down tables. Besides.... I'll be DONE with my sewing in pleanty of time, I won't need to worry about bringing Patience with me. :rotfl2:
M U S T W O R K T O D A Y..... Yesterday just dragged. I am sure that today will be worse. One good thing, is that we are pretty busy, so it does make the day go faster.
I am trying to break in a pair of Merrells - so my pinky toes are having issues - but for once, the bottom of my feet feel wonderful. Tit for tat. I really want to wear them again today - but I am not sure my little toes can handle another full day - might have to break out the roll of moleskin.
I was also looking online about getting a pair of Keens for our trip. I was just going to wear my trusty flip flops (which I'll still do) - but then I was reading somewhere about strollers and people running over your feet... Didn't really sound appealing for me. Of course - if I get a pair, the girls must have a pair too... Endless vicious circle... :rolleyes1 They look like they have really good arch support though - so I really want to try a pair on to see if my feet will love them or hate them...
No sewing updates today... Sorry everyone. :surfweb: All of my holiday projects are done, so I don't aniticpate being back in my sewing room doing anything productive until after Christmas.
Sorry you have to work today. I work three days next week and I fear it will be busy with all the college students home on break wanting their contacts updated (you know, the ones they've abused for over a year and must have before school starts up again). And if not college students it will be lots of kids getting exams over break. I normally like kids, but there have been some nasty bugs going on this winter and parents bring sick kids in all the time which irks me.
We had no issues as Dis with rude people or being run over with strollers and the like. I think it depends how crowded it is though. I think your tootsies would be ok in flip flops. DH got elbowed hard, right in the face though from a large person getting on the boat on Small World (which may be shut down anyway when you are there due to apparent issues from large people). I think I just wore different shoes everyday to give my feet breaks. Remember, we drive down so plenty of space for lots of shoes, even in our small car.
One of friends LOVES her Keens. She wears them all summer pretty much non-stop. I've ordered them for my kids from 6pm before. This is the perfect time to check for them on there since they are out of season right now. I love my Merrells but I do find that they need a couple of days to break in. I was shopping for new sneakers today but I didn't find anything I liked. Maybe I will look again after Christmas. The stores are too crowded now.
I'm impressed that you have so much saving done. I think the Disney gift cards were a great idea - can't spend them on a new pair of shoes or fabric.
I love the Haunted Mansion bag. I'm a little scared of that face :rotfl2: but it seems that kids are not afraid of anything. All those kids walking around in Pirate Makeup from the Pirate Leauge don't seem to bother the little ones so I think you'll be good with that bag. I hope the girls use them as their carry-on bags.
I know you were discussing park ticket prices a few pages ago and I know NOTHING about how the military tickets work but I know that if you are doing the Disney Dining (free or not) you have to buy at least a 2 day ticket for each person in your party from Disney as part of your package. Just want to make sure you know that so you don't buy your tickets from another source if you are planing on using the Dining plan.
:santa: Merry Christmas :santa:
I must have missed this one. What happened?? :confused3
Yes, I am interested in this too... What's going on Andrea???? :surfweb:
I am still debating on whether I should buy them, or not... All the colors are available in the right sizes currently - but I'd really like to go somewhere and double check sizing before I take the big leap. But I dont' want to miss out on the right colors either... :confused3
I'm impressed that you have so much saving done. I think the Disney gift cards were a great idea - can't spend them on a new pair of shoes or fabric.
Thank you... :thumbsup2 I like to think I have some great ideas occasionally. I actually didn't start buying the GCs until a few weeks ago - I wanted to be inside my 90 day window, just in case something happened and I needed to return them... Not likely - but I just wanted to be safe. Once I call them into Disney, I won't be able to do that anyways, and I plan to call them in with in the next few days.
I am scared of the face too... It's definately not perfect, but I just hope dd likes it. :lovestruc
Thanks for the reminder, yes I did know that... and that's the reason it doesn't make sense for me to go elsewhere to get tickets, because the more you buy the cheaper they get.... Disney knows this, so they have my $$ in their pocket already. :rolleyes1
Merry Christmas to you too... I hope you have a wonderful one. :lovestruc
I know what you mean... Everyone comes to Target with their sick kids (after their eye exams) to get medicine for them, then they cough (sneeze, breathe, touch) on me and I get sick too. :hug: Oh well... Lots of hand sanitizer.
That's good... I had a really bad issue with a stroller on our last trip - which I will tell you all the story later... Gotta go eat dinner - dd was kind enough to clean my kitchen and make dinner tonight :lovestruc (wonder what she wants????)
Actually...you CAN get the dining plan (but not free) when you use the military salute tickets. There is a special code they enter in...you either have to use a TA or call Disney direct to have it added. That is how we do it all the time....except for last time, we took advantage of the free dining since we were there for 9 days.
