~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Last week's custom order... Eeyore! I used purple on a whim for this bag, and I am so glad I did... It really turned out well. I always do Navy for Eeyore - but I think I like this so much better.

D~

We have decided to do DTD this day - and I am a bit nervous about it, after just discovering a few days ago about the construction making travel difficult and annoying.

We were going to take a bus directly from the Poly to DTD... but after giving it more thought - I am wondering if it will be better to take the boat back to MK - take the bus to FQ - then take the boat to DTD? What do you think? By the time we do all that - it might be better just to take the bus from the Poly to DTD?
Stick with the DTD bus. I don't hang around the Poly threads, so I don't know the exact route of the DTD bus, but it will still be faster than going back to the FQ to catch the boat. We took the DTD bus to and from the BC last trip and the bus ride itself ran around 1/2 hour. But the wait time for the bus to show up also was about 1/2 hour, making the total travel time about an hour each way.

So, then the next issue... This is the first time we are using a "participating airline"... So what does that mean? Do we not have to worry about our checked baggage at all one we check out of the resort? Do they take it from us there and we don't see it again until we are at our home airport - like ME, but the opposite direction? Or is there something else I need to know about this? I don't like doing new things - especially new things under stress... So, the more I know ahead of time, the better off I am.
D~

A participating airline means that you can take your check in luggage directly down to the airline check in counter at your resort, and they will transport it to the airport for you. You will not have to check in your luggage at the airport. It is a great feature. You will still have to check your carry ons with bell services, though. The airline counter at the resort closes at 1pm and they require any luggage be checked in at least three hours before flight time, something to remember if you take an early flight. :)

LOVE the Eeyore bag!!! Purple is the best!!!!!
if you are stressing this much then it is time to switch your plans around. Your in Disney, supposed to enjoy your last day there especially when you say this will be the last for a long time. get something more comfortable for you..

as for the bags? I trust Disney more then some of my family.. all our luggage was FINE when we left it with baggage at the resort. :thumbsup2

The Eeyore bag looks great.

Personally I wouldn't go to DTD on departure day. It sounds too stressful. I would try to go to DTD on one of the nights when one of the parks you are in closes early.

The Eeyore bag is really cute. You're right about the purple. One of my friends would really love that bag. He's her favorite.
The last time we took the bus to DTD from the Poly it stopped at the Grand Floridian and Contemporary on the way. It took a while but not as long as going back to FQ and then taking the boat. I will admit that the boat is a nicer ride, though.
We're getting your weather today. It's supposed to be near 90. It's my short day at work so I don't go in til 3:30. Hopefully the store is cool.
The zoo was fun on Sunday. We did get to see the baby giraffe. They also have a baby Meerkat. It was so cute.
I hope your day a Target goes well.
Liz

Oh, the last day plans and unknowns stress me out, too! What do you like to do at DTD? Is 2 hours there enough for you? I'd be afraid of staying any longer than that (depending on what time you arrived, that is). 2 hours was enough for us last time, but we don't browse any shops other than WoD.

Cute bag!

First of all, if your flight leaves at 6:30, your ME time should be 3:30. It's supposed to always be 3 hours before your flight. So, I would definitely avoid DTD on your last day. Just too many variables! We went to DTD our last day in February and we allowed an hour to get back to FQ and we made it with only 5 minutes to spare. There was NO construction, just no buses coming! And the boats weren't running due to winds. Go back to MK and have an enjoyable time. You'll be able to squeeze DTD in somewhere else I'll bet. I hope so anyway.

Second of all, that Eyeore bag is adorable!!! I also love the purple! Just a fun, beautiful bag!!

I wrote something else, but decided to PM it to you. :rolleyes1 I hope you have a good day at Target and don't get any crazies in your face!!

(And don't sweat not getting over to my ptr. I know you're sooo busy!)

We did the airline check in counter at the resort last year. I went to website and paid the luggage fees the night before. Then the next morning, we took them down and checked them in. I remember that the counter is only open for a few hours and some people came too late and they wouldn't take them. So, check on those hours. I think Beach Club's closed at 2pm. Our suitcases did make it back, mine had a leg broken off, but Portland seems to be really rough on suitcases, so I don't believe it was Disney that broke it.

I understand about the shorts issue. Spending half your time at Disney pulling shorts back down is no fun.

I love the Eeyore bag. You always do such good work. Our hospital is having a leather bag sale. I was looking at them and the retail price was $179 and I thought to myself, "who would pay that for a purse?" Then I had to correct myself and say a non-Disney purse. A Disney purse is totally acceptable in my book...leather...who needs it?!?

Is DTD a must do for you? I've found with the crowds there, I don't really enjoy it all that much. Plus, I can spend forever in World of Disney and no one in my family is up for that - or waiting forever while I shop. We pretty much just go to DTD to eat at Raglan Road, and I may run into WOD for a few minutes on my own. Maybe you could skip DTD all together? Or go another day. I'd either tour the monorail resorts the last day, since you will already be over there for breakfast, or go into MK for a few hours to soak up a little more magic!

Love the Eeyore bag! And every other bag you make :)

I am still in the early phases of scheming an August trip to coincide with your dates. DH opened the door when he said we could go ahead and get our APs early :) If we are able to swing it, we will work with your plans - maybe meet up and ride a couple rides together or have a snack or CS meal with you guys - we will fit into your plans, so don't worry about needing to make a change to accomodate us. I'll let you know as soon as I get it figured out.

I could have taken the money it cost DH and I to get new glasses last night, and more than covered a down payment on our APs :sad1::scared1: I skipped the mac and cheese last night since we ended up getting home too late. I may give it a shot tonight.

Hope Target goes well today.

We will take our time exiting the park - browsing the shops and maybe finding a bench just to sit and enjoy our final minutes in MK. I know there will be tears going down my face this time, as it will be my very last time viewing the castle with my girls together - until they are much, much older with children of their own. It will be a very bitter-sweet trip for me. Cry.

I teared up reading this. I get the very same way leaving MK. I hope there will be more trips in my future but I know it will be a few years before we come back and every year that passes, the boys get older and I don't know if the "magic" will be as strong for them as they age. The magic doesn't fade for me, though, and leaving MK always makes me sad. It just means I am closer to coming back to reality and I don't like that feeling! It's so hard to explain to people what it feels like in Disney. It's an experience that I am so honored to have been able to have multiple times in my life.

Cry all you want on that bench--cry tears of joy, though, for the wonderful memories you have created there and for the memories you will create in the future. And it's okay to cry some tears of sadness, too. It's never fun leaving "your happy place" (as I like to call it). And know that in a few weeks, I will be there crying too!!

I believe you have been answered on the luggage questions! It's fantastic, I loved that service!

I agree with others, if the DTD plan is already stressing you I would just do something else that will be relaxing to you, I was just reading on Dugettes TR that she hired Disney to go to the Poly and do a photoshoot for her family! That'd be fun on your last day, to commemorate your last trip with your girls together! The pics were beautiful, it turned out really well, though there was a price tag involved.

Otherwise just doing a few things in MK, or do a monorail tour and check out GF, or just go back and hang at FQ! :-)

Whatever you decide, try not to stress! It'll all work out!

Leaving is always stressful enough. I would forego DTD and take a much more relaxed, soak it all in one last morning before the dreaded ME pickup. Just my 2 cents and especially with all the construction going on down there. Sounds stressful just thinking about it. Enjoy that last day with the girls at a relaxed pace.

Oh while a bonus day in Disney before your flight is nice I would also super stress for all the same reasons.

Elaborate on the cordless cell phone chargers. My battery doesn't last as long these days and with using MDE and taking pics/video it might not last to mid day break recharging.

Hi D, :wave2:

I am new to your trip/ptr reports. I found Mo's PTR from Kathy's and your's from Mo's... lol I am also on the Sept FB group and found out about your bags, which I purchased the Halloween Vampire Mickey one. :cool1: It is absolutely awesome!! Love it... Thank you so much!! I love Halloween, it's my son's birthday (Oct 31) and we love going to WDW in the fall.

I have read through your whole ptr in the last few days :coffee: Glad your dad is doing well in his new home! Sorry about your uncle. Your family is soooo cute! MM is adorable! Sounds like your trip plans are coming along great, looks busy but will be lots of fun!

I absolutely love your donald outfit. I am going to be donald for MNSSHP this year when we go. I am so not a sewer but I am making our costumes, they will be supper easy (almost like dis bounding, instead of a real costume :rotfl2:) I really wish I could sew, you do some fun and amazing stuff. :donald:

I am looking forward to reading more of your adventures and Disney plans.
Jen

D-I love Eeyore! Love the purple!

Love your DD outfit. Those shoes are awesome. Can't wait to see the rest of your outfits.

I have to agree with others on skipping DTD on your last day. If you do yo I would allow 2 hours to get back to your resort. Have you considered just shopping at GF & CR instead? They have some great shops.

My trip is fast approaching. I really need this break from work. It's such a nightmare with the new analyst that legal says we can't fire yet. So I'm the one who has to work late and scramble to pick up the pieces when she's out. Of course she's always out when there is a major project due so there is no proof she can even do the job. UGH! I just pray she quits on her own soon! It was so much easier to just do it all myself.

I ADORE the Eeyore bag! I think purple was a great choice.

I think, since you are stressed already, it might be a good idea for you to skip DTD on the last day. I would try to fit DTD in somewhere during the rest of the time in the evening if possible. Would you enjoy yourself in DTD on the last day wondering if you are going to get back in time?

I am sure that whatever you do, it will work out, I just hope you don't stress too much over it.

I was thinking it would probably be best to stick to the DTD bus from the Poly... but I thought I would ask the other option - just in case it's really bad. LOL

participating airline means that you can take your check in luggage directly down to the airline check in counter at your resort, and they will transport it to the airport for you. You will not have to check in your luggage at the airport. It is a great feature. You will still have to check your carry ons with bell services, though. The airline counter at the resort closes at 1pm and they require any luggage be checked in at least three hours before flight time, something to remember if you take an early flight.

This is good to know! We should be well with in the tme limits of the counter being open... Since we have to be checked out of our room and on a bus to the Poly by 9:45. Do you think that going down to do our luggage at about 9am would give us ample time if there is a line to do this? Just trying to figure out our time schedule for that morning.

LOVE the Eeyore bag!!! Purple is the best!!!!!

as for the bags? I trust Disney more then some of my family.. all our luggage was FINE when we left it with baggage at the resort.

Thanks Mo! You are right - I need to talk to BFFabout it today... I sometimes think she thinks I am too anal about this - but I feel it's a legitimate concern.

I don't worry about them losing our bags - LOL (not much anyways), but I was just wondering how the process worked, we've never flown a participating airline before.

The Eeyore bag looks great.

Personally I wouldn't go to DTD on departure day. It sounds too stressful. I would try to go to DTD on one of the nights when one of the parks you are in closes early.

Thank you Lillian... I am still trying to figure this out, and I am not sure what to do. I plan to talk to BFF about it today, maybe we can come up with a better solution?

The Eeyore bag is really cute. You're right about the purple. One of my friends would really love that bag. He's her favorite.

Thanks Liz! Glad you had fun at the zoo - I hope you had a good day at work and stayed cool.

Cute bag!

Thanks - actually, the only reason I really want to go there is to see the new Co-Op store... if it wasn't for that store, we could skip DTD all together, but I really want to see it and make some purchases there. So, I think I am going to have to go through our schedule and find another time to make DTD work for us. It's close enough to our resort, and open late enough - we could make it work almost any night we are back early... Maybe even our AK night might work?

First of all, if your flight leaves at 6:30, your ME time should be 3:30. It's supposed to always be 3 hours before your flight. So, I would definitely avoid DTD on your last day. You are right - I think it is 3 hours... Hmmm... So that does leave very little time... That darn 'Ohana ADR is throwing a wrench in everything. Oh well. I think we will need to find another time to do DTD.

Thank you... I did receive your PM yesterday and read it while I was on my break... I will respond as soon as I am caught up here.

I plan to get over there today.

This is good to know... We have to be on a bus to 'Ohana by 9:45, so I think we should be OK with getting there before it closes.

I understand about the shorts issue. Spending half your time at Disney pulling shorts back down is no fun.

Exactly... LOL Who knows, they might fit by then? But I just don't want to take the chance of them not. The new ones should be here today - hopefully they are a little less wedgie-like. LOL

love the Eeyore bag. You always do such good work. Our hospital is having a leather bag sale. Not necessarily DTD, but WoD and for sure the new Co-Op store is a must-do for us... THere are a few things I'd like to buy there... So we will need to find a way to make it work at some point.

the Eeyore bag! And every other bag you make

Thank you!

I am still in the early phases of scheming an August trip to coincide with your dates. DH opened the door when he said we could go ahead and get our APs early If we are able to swing it, we will work with your plans - maybe meet up and ride a couple rides together or have a snack or CS meal with you guys - we will fit into your plans, so don't worry about needing to make a change to accomodate us. I'll let you know as soon as I get it figured out.

Sounds good, just keep me updated on your plans. We will make something work out.

LOL - well I hope you were able to make it last night. Target was good, thank you.

I teared up reading this. I get the very same way leaving MK. Whatever you decide, try not to stress! It'll all work out!

Yes, I am going to try to talk to BFF today about the DTD issue again - I know she thinks I am a nut, but she does not realize how long it takes to travel from place to place... And in the case of the construction at DTD - well, it's a huge concern.

I am thinking we will tour the monorail resorts - or possibly even add another day on to our passes and go to MK for a few hours? But most likely, just tour the resorts and gift shops.

For that matter, we could always plan to go back to FQ and swim for a bit - even though we wouldn't have a room to change into our travel stuff in, it would be OK to just sit there and enjoy our last moments. I think we will just play it by ear this day.

Exactly Mike! LOL - I am a bit stressed about it... I am going to talk to bff about it today and hopefully we can mutually decide on something else to do - and find another time for DTD.

Leaving is always stressful for me, especially when it's later in the say - some people love that day, but for me, there are just too many variables.

They are awesome - and almost necessary in WDW with how much Disney is making us rely on our devices. Josh surprised us with 3 more yesterday... Here's the link to one at Amazon - but they seriously sell them everywhere now... Our Target has a huge end cap of them! Last year, after our trip - they were almost impossible to find locally, but now they are everywhere. http://www.amazon.com/Astro-Ultra-C...8&sr=8-3&keywords=cell+phone+charger+portable

Welcome Jen!!! So happy to have you here! How fun about your son's birthday being on halloween - that bag is absolutely perfection for you! Glad you like it!

I have read through your whole ptr in the last few days Glad your dad is doing well in his new home! Sorry about your uncle. Your family is soooo cute! MM is adorable! Sounds like your trip plans are coming along great, looks busy but will be lots of fun!

Oooh - I am sure you will make it wonderful! I cannot wait to see how it turns out... I hope you will send me pictures, because I would love to see!

Thanks so much for stopping by - it's great to have you here!

D-I love Eeyore! Love the purple!

Hahaha Bernadette... I was acutally thinking of you when I was making that bag... I knew you loved the Pooh characters and the color purple. ::yes::

I am thinking we will just tour/shop the MK resorts instead of DTD that day... It will be relaxing and it will give us a chance to see more of them.

I am sorry that work is not going well for you - you really need a break. This has been a really tough year + for you there, because I remember talking about it at great length when we were at Blizzard Beach last summer. For your sake, I hope she quits sooner rather than later.

I know I still need to text you - I have not forgotten. I told the girls that we may be seeing you and your family again this trip and they were SOOOO excited!!! :woohoo: So, if there is any way we can make it work - I would love to try. And if TL works for you, that would be a great option - I would love to sit under a shade tree and just chat again, it's one of my favorite memories from last year. Annnnd... No losing anyone in the lazy river... :crazy2:

I ADORE the Eeyore bag! I think purple was a great choice.

I think, since you are stressed already, it might be a good idea for you to skip DTD on the last day. I would try to fit DTD in somewhere during the rest of the time in the evening if possible. Would you enjoy yourself in DTD on the last day wondering if you are going to get back in time?

Thank you! Yes, I think we are going to try to do DTD a different night... It's just feeling too stressfull to try to do it on our last day.

I am sure it will work out too.

**********************************************************

So, yesterday was just crazy... I don't even know where to start? LOL

First off... So, Alli and I were both scheduled yesterday at Target/Starbucks. My shift was 9:30-3 and her's was 12-4. We live 20 miles from the store, and Alli doesn't have a drivers licence. See the problem yet?

Soooo... Alli (and V - but not to work - just to hang out with friends) had to go to town with me 2.5 hours before her shift and sit there. :crazy2:

I left at my normal time... We got alllllll thhhhhhhe waaaaaay to town, and Alli realized she forgot her work clothes at home. Seriously. :scared:  So, I had to whip a U-ie and drive all the way back home, so she could get her clothes, then drive all the way back. Needless to say - I was late for work! I was not a happy girl... I've worked there for 8+ years, and I've never been late for a shift.

Anyways, my day went good and fast - which is just how I like it.

Then, after work - this is where it gets crazy...

Alli got off of work at 4pm... V had a Dr. appt at 4pm... Then Alli had an appointment at 5pm...

Soooo... I got off of work - did a little shopping. At 3:45, I brought V to her appt. Josh picked up Alli at 4... Took her to the bank to open her first checking account... I went over there after dropping V off, because both Josh and I had to sign for Alli's account... Then Josh brought Alli to her appt, and I picked V up from her's. Crazy right?

While I was waiting at work for Alli - she made me a drink... It was delicious! And a RARE treat for me. Isn't she cute? Everyone at work just loves her! Not only are my drinks made with love, but she puts hearts on my cup. :cheer2:

20140722_153639.jpg

After all this running was done... We all came home and had leftovers for dinner. Gus came over and hung out wiht the girls for a while. Josh and I went to bed early, we were both exhausted.

Dad update: My Dad made it safely to Vancouver - they arrived at approx 12:30 yesterday morning. What a relief! I know he will have a wonderful time with his brother - they are very close.

Josh's back update: What is happening now is exactly what the Dr. said would happen... Now that the nerve pain is gone, Josh is able to feel the acutal pain from the disks. So, he has to get into his neurologist to start a plan of action for that part of it. I feel so badly for him. Thankfully - the pain he is in now is a lot different than the pain he was in before, so he seems to be able to move better than he was.

Well, I better get going on my day - I have a lot to get done today...

I plan to quilt my custom order this morning. Then this afternoon - I hope to finish up Auction Bag #10. I would like to get it out in the mail by tomorrow, as the person who won it leaves next week for WDW, and I'd like her to be able to use it for this trip.

I will be posting my first custom outfit shortly... I am very anxious for you all to see it!

Have a great day everyone! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you~! :grouphug:

I need to preface this post... I was going to do these in chronological order of how I am wearing them... But due to the "not-a-bag" issue... I will be adding an outbound "travel outfit" to my ensemble - which I don't have yet. But when I do - I will post it.

So, this is the outfit I plan to wear on our first MK day. When we returned home from our trip last year, Princess Pie was having an auction - I saw this head bling and knew it was mine.

Before Jenny had even mailed them, I had drawn up a sketch for the bag - which I never do... but I knew it would be months before I would make it and I didn't want to forget.

I wanted this outfit to be a little like Disney Bounding...

I remembered seeing a light yellow tank top, in my favorite style, at Target a few weeks prior... So I rushed into Target, and there is was - just my luck, on clearance . Glad I got it when I did, or I would have missed out. Although - sadly - now it's too big on me. LOL Oh well, I had no idea last summer that I would be this much smaller by now, but I will deal with it

I ordered the shorts about a month ago online...

And the belt, I had previously.

Then, of course, my trusty Orthaheel/Vionic flip-flops. ::yes:: Never leave home with out 'em.

So, here you go... My first custom outfit for this trip...

Now, I fully believe on giving credit where credit is due... So, my head bling is done by Jennifer of Princess Pie Bowtique - I do not think she is taking orders anymore (but I could be wrong), however, I know she still participates in auctions and occasionally sells her stuff on her fanapage. She also made the pin - which I am not sure where I am attaching that on myself yet. LOL

And, of course the bag is made by me... but due to the nature of my business and the rules here on The Dis - I cannot tell you any informtation about my business. Which is A-OK... :thumbsup2

I think that's all I have for custom stuff on this outfit...

However - I did make one final addition to my outfits last night... I found something I've been wanting FOREVER... It's always bothered me that I don't have a Disney phone case - by the time I got my Galaxy s2, there were none available... but I found this one last night - and it goes perfectly with ALL of my Disney trip outfits! :woohoo: It's not exactly "Disney", but it's perfect for me!

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I am LOVING ALL YOUR STUFF!!!! This is fantastic!!!! You can even wear your red/yellow beads right??? This is WAY TOO CUTE AND I LOVE IT!

Hey im guess you can probably take that shirt in? I hear you can sew.... :lmao:

can't wait to hear how the Conversation with BFF goes for changing plans around.

The outfit is amazing...but I am so in love with that bag! That is totally the style I love, all about the character without actually using the character.

I cannot wait to see the head bling on! It's a little much for me (DH would probably die) but I know you will totally rock it! And it will be great with the rest of the outfit.

Love the new phone case too - it's perfect for you. I need a new Disney phone case, my current one is a little beat up. I started looking on Etsy about a month ago and I got paralyzed because I didn't know exactly what I wanted and there are just too many choices.

I hope you and BFF can come up with a new plan for your last day and a new time for DTD.

Your day yesterday sounds nuts! Hope you are able to accomplish a lot in your sewing room today.
