~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Finally I'm all caught up again. Great photos of your dad and his new place. Looks very cozy!

Love the new bag...of course! :)

As for advice on staying an EXTRA day at Disney...well it's an EXTRA day at Disney which I always think is a good thing. I like having an extra day built in just in case things don't go as planned and I have time to change it. That's just me though. We are leaving for our Disney cruise in just 9 days, even though the cruise isn't until day 11. My husband asked last night why we are leaving TWO days before the cruise? Well it's about a 14+ hour drive and while current plans have us driving straight through, you just never know and I like having that extra day of cushion just in case. This is actually kinda funny though, since I am a professional procrastinator and if we were leaving on a plane I would be the one NOT wanting to arrive earlier than an hour before our flight, which drives DH crazy as he likes to be there 2 hours early. And we live only 15 minutes from the airport...and there is NEVER traffic on those roads! :lmao:

Anyway good luck making the decision. As you said you have plenty of time but if it were me I think I'd probably spring for that extra day! :)

Morning! Thanks again for making the wonderful Mickey bag for my cousin! I can't wait to give it to her in a few weeks! She has been wanting one of your bags for a while but I told her unless she won an auction there would be no way she could get one for our trip. Hopefully it will be a really nice surprise for her!

I'm not sure if I missed something above but is there a reason you can't add a day at the beginning of the trip instead of at the end?

I am sure she will be very surprised. I hope she likes it.

Well, one reason is that we are booked for Free Dining - we cannot go any earlier because there is no availability, we can go later because I am already booked later and haven't adjusted it yet. :rolleyes1

Indeed, that bag is amazing! And the lining fabric is perfect. Great job during difficult circumstances. Your quality did not suffer in the least, but then I never thought it would. I'm sure Ariana's cousin is going to flip out over it!! I wish I was Ariana's cousin

Thank you Lois!

I have some pretty wonderful news. Jennifer does not have to have that surgery right now. Her physical therapist (who is also a dr) did another consult with her surgeon and they have decided that she will continue her PT and see how it goes. Jen has made huge progress this last week and a half and the surgeon is encouraged that the surgery can be held off. She will eventually need it, but hopefully when she doesn't have an infant and such young children to care for. I believe completely that this is God answering everyone's prayers. These things don't just happen, so I am claiming it as God intervening. I think He intervened in your Dad's case as well and got you through everything you had to do. And I think it's important to acknowledge answered prayer, so that's what I'm doing!

This is WONDERFUL news and totally made my day!!! What a relief! I hope that things continue to improve for her - she has just been through so much!

I agree about adknowledging answered prayer, and this is definately a case of that.

I know your life is still crazy and you still feel as though you're behind, but you'll catch up soon. And before long you'll be making your ADRs!!! Won't that be fun! Has Josh had any more to say about a possible trip? I sure wish I could be there at the same time and meet you and the girls. Someday!

You have a wonderful day, and thanks for all your caring and support. It means so much!!

No news on the OK from Josh. :headache: Wish he would just say yes, then we could quit bothering him about it. :rotfl2:

I hope we get to meet some day too - that would be so much fun!

I adore the Mickey bag!!!! Another Fantastic job!!!

Thanks Mo!

I just read your post. I don't think an additional day would hurt anything. I think your plan to rest up a bit and then meet for dinner would be a good one. Three weeks is still a lot of time to visit. And you WILL need a breather from the heat and pace you'll be going while at Disney. I saw Ariana asked about adding a day at the start of your trip. That had occurred to me as well. Any chance of that?

Yay for being just a day behind. I know it's a big deal, but at least it's better than being several days behind with a broken arm or something. lol

I know it's not that huge of a deal, but I feel awful that they are traveling around the world to see us - and we won't be here for the first day or two. And realistically, the girls only have that week with them, since once they go back to school, their time will be so limited - so I hate to cut into that more than necessary.

We are booked for Free Dining, and there is no availability before our dates - just after, because I am booked for that already - and I can just cut it back to the dates we need. :confused3 We could go down a day early with a room only reservation - but I am not quite sure how that works yet?

You are right - and I was able to make some great headway yesterday - so I've caught up even more. :woohoo:

I'm jealous of you and your cousin.

Another amazing bag, D.

Hello there! It's been a while since I have seen your smiling face around here - I hope you are doing well!

These are fantastic! I've been known to accost Goofy in the parks, on the ship.. well just about anywhere!

When you get your plans ironed out for the next trip I would love to set up a Dis meet with you!

Hahaha... Yah - we have the same problem with dd#2, so I know how it is. I will let you know when we get our dates figured out. :thumbsup2

Phew...all caught up.

So, have you talked to B/M/T about their plans when they come? Are they staying with you? Do they have other people they are seeing and might not be around that day anyway?? Maybe it would work out that they could go see others while you are taking an extra day in WDW.

And yeah....I'm with others, is it possible to add on to the beginning of your trip??

Oh yeah and....love the new Mickey bag. You know how I feel about the black and white simple plan

Nope, can't talk to B/M/T - since Josh doesn't know about the trip yet - can't talk to them. I will, as soon as we get our blessing from Josh though.

Can't add on to the beginning, unless we go with out FD, and that would break my heart. We could do a room only reservation that first night - just not sure how it works. I have a question into my TA, so I sould find out soon. She has a trip on the horizon though - so it might be a bit.

I am glad you had a fantastic day yesterday and that things are getting back to normal.

I agree with the others...add a day at the beginning of the trip?

I LOVE that Goofy bag...adorable.

Thanks Kathy!

Well, we are booked for Free DIning - and I can extend out our trip, but there is no availability for before our first day. I can do a R/o reservation for that first night - just trying to figure out how that all works, I've never done that before.

Whew - I am all caught up D! Thank you for the address - I have already put a short but sweet note in the mail to your Dad. D - forge on and do not look back. You are a beautiful person and daughter, and you know what needs to be done to take care of your Dad now. I have had so many things in my past I would have liked to change, but that is part of life. We have to just ask for God's guidance and move on. What matters now is you know what needs to be done to have your Dad taken good care of, and will ask for help when needed. I am so glad he is all moved in, I loved the pic of V and your Dad playing cards. That was really touching.

Thanks Carol! Everything you said here really means a lot to me. :wizard:

Carry on lady. You have accomplished a great deal since your Dad was sick and in the hospital, and it looks you are all in a good place, emotionally for you and physically for your Dad.

I sure hope so... THank you.

I love the pics of the Bags. Regarding your trip, I think a day extra at the end would be best. I have a feeling Josh will come around. It just might take a little more work than usual. V and Alli will have to throw in some "please Daddy" and other daughter tricks!

Take care, and as usual, prayers are sent your way.

I hope he comes around - it would make things much easier. LOL I hope you take care, as well.

Your dad's apartment looks nice! I would like his address too!

Is there any way to add a day to the front of your trip? I like your idea about having a rest day!

Love the new bag, but I'm partial to Mickey

Thank you! I am very happy with how it turned out in such a short time.

We are booked for Free DIning right now, because I had the foresight to book longer than what we needed, we can add days at the end of our trip, but there is no availability for prior to our trip, unless I book a Room only reservation. Which I have no idea how that works with our package, I do have the question into my TA right now. We'll see how it goes. Because, ideally - I would rather go a day earlier, that would make things so much easier.

I am so happy that your dad is doing so well.

Glad you are home and eating as you should. It is hard when life throws curve balls. You are such an inspiration and I know you will see results with your handwork.

No advice for you on traveling back but I think you would be fine flying in on Tuesday.

Thanks Chiara! It is very hard to stick with it when my routine is thrown off, but so far, so good. I just keep chuggin along.

**********************************************************

Yesterday was another FANTASTIC day in my sewing room. I was able to get up there extra early and I only took a 15 minute break for lunch. I was able to complete my entire applique before lunch, and I was also able to start some of the pre-assembly work on it! :woohoo: I have about an hours worth of work left to do on the bag - which is AWESOME! But the wallet has a detailed applique - so that will be several hours worth of work - with any luck, I will be able to finish it tomorrow. Which means... it is entirely possible I will be caught up before the weekend. :woohoo:

In between all of my sewing, I was able to call and get my Dad's phone scheduled to be hooked up. We weren't going to do it - but it's been impossible to get ahold of him because he only has spotty cell reception. So, they will hook it up on Tuesday next week. :wizard:

I was also able to get him extended cable for a decent price... He will be happy - since there were a few religious channels he wasn't getting and now he will. I feel so badly that we had to take so much away from him, so I feel a little bit better that he has a few comforts now.

We did nothing last night, I sat around reading blogs on my tablet and Josh took a nap on the couch. We all went to bed early.

I work at Target today... Sigh... We are in a winter weather advisory - so I am sure the roads will be bad for my trip home. :headache:

**********************************************************

I am sure you saw my replies above, but just in case you don't read them...

Right now, we are booked for Free Dining. I booked the longest trip I could get when I booked it, because I knew I could always take days away if needed. So, there is no availability for before our current trip for FD, but because of the way I booked it - we can stay longer and keep it. Does that make any sense? If we went down a day early, I would have to book a room only reservation - and I am not sure how that works with our package reservation? I do have the question into my TA, but she is leaving shortly on her own trip, so I may not have an answer for a few weeks (which is OK) - I can always book my dining for that day anyways, just in case - if I don't know before my ADR date approaches.

So, have any of you done a trip like that in the past? Booked a package deal, but arrived a day or two earlier and just had a room only reservation for those days? How did it work for you? Were you able to use your park tickets and such? I realize we won't be able to use our Dining credits, but I am most concerned about park tickets.

I hope you all have a wonderful day... Prayers for all who need them. :wizard:

D~

Hi D!

Love the new bag!:thumbsup2

To answer your question, I have done the room only before my trip several times. Usually the reason I do it is to be rested and hit the ground running the day my package starts the next day. All you have to do is book a one night R/O (usually with a discount) and link it to your package. I have never had to change rooms (unless I book the Room only at a different resort).

Yeah for being almost caught up with your sewing schedule!

I can't help you with the room only thing, I've never done that. I do know people do it all the time so it must be pretty easy. :confused3

Yay for being almost caught up!! You are one determined lady. Good for you! Can't wait to see this next bag.

Now I get the adding the day on at the end thought. Makes sense. But I also like what Suzi pointed out that they may have other plans to visit with other family/friends anyway. I know you can't inquire too much until Josh knows about your trip, but that would solve everything. Also, adding a room only at the beginning would be very doable.

Hope you have a good day at Target and that it goes very fast!! I know your heart will be in your sewing room!

Ya hey dar! :lmao:

you can call Disney with your Reservation number and ask away!!! or just call them anyhow and ask. if your going down a day early your going to need a extra day of tickets.. is that what your asking?!?! :confused3

have a great day at target!!!

my question is how are your going to get the OK from Josh....

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for being caught up! That's awesome, Dee.

I'm glad you got your Dad a phone and were able to get him cable with more of the shows he likes.

Now I understand why you can't add on before with the FD; I know many people get a room only deal. I'm sure there is someway you can do it with your tickets.

I don't think you'd have a problem with a room only reservation for a day before. As far as the dining plan - it would more than likely only be one meal that you would have to pay oop? If it meant losing time spent with your visiting family, I'd definitely go for the day before. It would be worth it to have a day of rest.

Why do I think you are going to push yourself to be caught up ASAP?

So glad you were able to get your Dad a phone and cable with the channels he likes.

Can't wait to see your newest bag.

Once again, a fly by.

Loved the Mickey Bag - simple Disney elegance.

Wonderful to hear your dad is doing so well. We had something similar with my Mom when she recently decided to give up driving. She was so stressed about her car insurance (and trying to drive after her knee surgery) that when it went away she was like a new person.

Don't Push yourself too hard to catch up. Remember you have had a stressful time the past month as well.

Thank you Sandra! Yes, it feels great to truly be back to work again. I am so much less stressed now.

Sounds like you've had some pretty productive days!! Good for you for being almost caught up!!!

SHHH don't tell (especially on FB because I haven't posted anything there) but I have a feeling that baby #4 may be making an appearance within the next 24 - 48 hours!! Last night I had contractions for about 3 hours coming every 5 mins. They weren't coming hard enough to make me want to go in to the hospital. Then this morning I got up around 5:45 am with Jeff and started having contractions again!! (Plus found something else had happened that I won't go into detail here, if you're a parent you can probably figure out what I'm talking about and no it wasn't my water breaking.)

Finally I'm all caught up again. Great photos of your dad and his new place. Looks very cozy!

Hi D!

Hi Tasha! Thanks! Yah - I am not sure what we are going to do? :confused3 I will write about it below...

Yeah for being almost caught up with your sewing schedule!

I can't help you with the room only thing, I've never done that. I do know people do it all the time so it must be pretty easy.

Thanks Ariana! Yah - I know people do it all the time too, but I will write about it below... There are a few things that are annoying. LOL

Yay for being almost caught up!! You are one determined lady. Good for you! Can't wait to see this next bag.

I am super happy about it too - I cannot wait to show you all this bag... I have never done these characters before, and I LOVE how it's turning out!

I know - I need to talk to Josh... I am just trying to get all this stuff with my dad ironed out first - then the girls and I will bombard him. ::yes:: I will write about my thoughts below adding days before vs/ days after.

Ya hey dar!

you can call Disney with your Reservation number and ask away!!! or just call them anyhow and ask. if your going down a day early your going to need a extra day of tickets.. is that what your asking?!?!

have a great day at target!!!

my question is how are your going to get the OK from Josh....

Unfortunately - it's not as easy as that. :( Well, calling Disney is, but just adding tickets is not... I will write about it below.

No clue how we are going to get the OK? :confused3 I hope to have it paid off before I have to tell him. :rotfl2:

for being caught up! That's awesome, Dee.

I'm glad you got your Dad a phone and were able to get him cable with more of the shows he likes.

Now I understand why you can't add on before with the FD; I know many people get a room only deal. I'm sure there is someway you can do it with your tickets.

I know - I am very relieved to almost be caught up.

I will write about my options below, since I was able to chat with my TA. :thumbsup2

I don't think you'd have a problem with a room only reservation for a day before. As far as the dining plan - it would more than likely only be one meal that you would have to pay oop? If it meant losing time spent with your visiting family, I'd definitely go for the day before. It would be worth it to have a day of rest.

Yes... It's something like this. I will explain below. :thumbsup2

Why do I think you are going to push yourself to be caught up ASAP?

So glad you were able to get your Dad a phone and cable with the channels he likes.

Can't wait to see your newest bag.

Hahaha... Yah - I cannot handle being behind. I love this newest bag - it's characters I've never done before and they are quite fun to work with.

Once again, a fly by.

Loved the Mickey Bag - simple Disney elegance.

Don't Push yourself too hard to catch up. Remember you have had a stressful time the past month as well.

Hi Ruth! It's great to see you. Is everything going OK?

I know - I shouldn't be pushing myself, but I know I will feel much better once I am caught up. It's more stress for me being behind on my schedule, than working like a crazy woman to catch up. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you've had some pretty productive days!! Good for you for being almost caught up!!!

SHHH don't tell (especially on FB because I haven't posted anything there) but I have a feeling that baby #4 may be making an appearance within the next 24 - 48 hours!! Yay!!! I happened to hop on last night and read this... So, I jumped on here rigth away this morning to see if there were any updates... If you went in last night - I pray all is well. (((hugs))) Let us know when you can. :lovestruc

**********************************************************

Target went by quickly yesterday - couldn't have asked for anything better at this time of year.

Roads were awful, but we all arrived home safely.

Pretty boring day yesterday.

I will be working in my sewing room this morning... Then Alli has an appointment this afternoon... So, maybe I won't get caught up today. But we are going to my Dad's on Sunday rather than Saturday, so I can work up there tomorrow a bit too.

**********************************************************

OK - so here's the deal on the trip.

Currently - we are booked August A throught August J. :thumbsup2 For those dates, we have Free Dining booked. :woohoo: As you can see - that is 9 nights.

We were actually planning to back it up to August G or H... So we make it home in time for B/M/T. Are you confused yet?

So, if we go a day earlier than August A - this is the deal. We can book a r/o reservation for that night. :thumbsup2 BUT - we cannot use any of our tickets or dining credits until the next day. :scared: So, if we want to use that day as a resort/DTD day - it would be OK... but if we wanted to try to kill a day at MK - then it wouldn't be OK, because we would have to buy a 1 day pass for each person, which would make it very expensive. So, I need to chat with BFF about it today, and work out some logistics to see if it's even an option. Personally - I wouldn't mind having that day as a DTD day and a pool day (since, we'd likely not get to DTD at all any other time), then like Tasha said, we could hit the ground running the next day. ::yes:: We will see... So, there are benefits. Also, all of our meals that day would be OOP. :scratchin

OK everyone - have a fantastic day! Prayers and good thoughts to all! :lovestruc

D~

I am confused and feeling foolish lol. Here is my question- I didn't do bounce back last August because the offer started on like the last two or three days that we could travel.......would they have extended the offer to my start date? If so I will be so mad at myself- even though last year we had no intention to return since we were supposed to cruise this summer- I may have booked it anyway just in case.

No, they would not have. So you didn't miss out on anything. :thumbsup2 And, I think you need to book 4 nights to qualify for FD anyways? So, it really wouldn't have worked for you, unless you could stay at least that long - and even then, it may not have been to your benefit, because I think you need 4 days of park passes too? NOt sure on that. :confused3

D~

You're right D about the tickets and food being OOP. You used to be able to pick up your park tickets up to 3 days before your package started at guest relations but I'm not sure if that still applies with the new magic bands. There is a sticky on the discount and code thread about tickets that may have an answer for you.

I wish you the best with your decision friend.

Hi D,

Just my two cents but I think a DD day is a great idea. We fit one in every trip. You can just relax, walk around and get ready for your first day in the parks. You'll be refreshed from traveling the day before and be well rested for the next day! Of course hanging out at the pool or checking out other resorts would be fun too! Just a thought!! My kiddos make t-shirts at the Hanes store every time! I hope they're not too old when we go this Spring. Have a great day!

I like the idea of pool and DTD by coming a day earlier; this is what Mark and I do on most of our trips. It will help you relax after traveling.

We are working a wrestling tournament at high school tomorrow so may not get on here, so have a good weekend.

DD is always my down day.. so this might work for you... traveling is always stressful then to hit the park by the end of the day your exhausted! maybe a different plan might be good! and more relaxing!!! this way you will be FRESH and ready to take Disney by the genies!!! ::yes::

SHOW YOUR DISNEY SIDE D!!! Get em!!! :thumbsup2

I don't know, but since the point of adding a day was to have a "down" day, wouldn't it be more beneficial to make your down day in the middle of your trip when you may really need a respite from the heat? I know you don't want to miss time with your family, but to me, a rest day before you even start seems like a waste. On the day we arrive, I'm so excited, it doesn't matter how tired I am, I'm getting to a park!!! But, that's me. I'm sorry this is causing you so much trouble. Planning should be fun, right? Good luck and I know whatever you decide you'll have a fantastic time! Oh, and glad Target day was a good one!

Could Sandra be at the hospital??? Hope so!

ETA: I get what everyone is saying, and it does have merit to rest up then hit the ground running the next day. I just CANNOT arrive and NOT go to a park. Just me.

I kind of agree with Lois on this one - if the point of another day is to have a down day, it doesn't make much sense to have it at the beginning of your trip. Here's another idea - if you were planning to get water park tickets, why not make the first day a water park day - you could get your tickets separate from the park tickets, rather than adding that cost to the park tickets - it would come out about the same cost?
