Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

what's the deal with the lime green mickey heads? I had not heard of that before your ptr!

The LGMHs are something that Disers came up with years ago for fellow Disers to carry in the park, to signify to Disers everywhere that they are a Diser. :thumbsup2 Whatcha do, is go to your local Home Depot, to the paint section and grab a Lime Green Mickey Head paint sample card from the Disney paint section and attach it to your stroller/bag/shirt - whatever. Then, randomly through out your day, you'll have crazy Disers (like me) come up to you and introduce themselves. :thumbsup2

I think you should make two "bulletin board like" frames with it. One an inspiration board where you put idea pictures, scraps of fabric, little notes about projects, my photograph, etc.

On the other board put photos of completed projects, 'thank yous', first try appliques, my photograph, etc.

Like this -- which I did NOT make, I just borrowed from google in case my word picture didn't quite get it across.

didea.jpg

This is an excellent idea! I need to find a frame... You all know I've been meaning to do something like this for my sewing room for ages! :thumbsup2

Very nice! I second this suggestion.

Love the fabric too! What a very nice thing for Judy to do. Judy, you are such a sweetheart!

I know, I :lovestruc her!

Mmmm, steak. :) That makes sense if it was a new CM. My first name is Dave. :)

Hi Dave - nice to meetcha!

Love your updates. Your RNRC reminds me how mad DD was at me for not telling her it went upside down twice:confused3 I told her I didn't remember.

I honestly don't think I even knew it went upside down the first time we rode it???

Glad you were PD with FB for TSM.... like all my acronyms:lmao: We did that to a family walking in the parking lot last year. We just weren't going to make the return time so we handed them 4.

LOL I was trying to figure out how I got Pixie Dusted on Face Book for Toy Stoy Mania... Then I realized it was Fast Pass... ROFL

I know - we ended up giving away some of our FPs later in the week... But I'll get to that story later. :thumbsup2

Too bad about your server....you should have put her in the corner:mad:

I kind of wished I would have.

:scared1: Uh-Oh.... I was going to suggest framing the fabric. Does this mean I am starting to think like Cheryl and will soon have little Gingers running around:rotfl2:

Yes, this is exactly what it means - if I were you - I'd invest some serious stock in barbed wire... They're gonna use a lot of it for you. :thumbsup2

Adorable! I have that fabric! Sunny has a collar cover/scarf from it..

I know - I love this fabric too... I was gonna use it for Ruf's ashes originally - but I got so much of it (it was the end of the bolt - so it was 50% off) that I think I've decided to keep searching for fabric for Ruf, and use this to make some stuff for Max. I want to make him a new bed (or two)... Then I'd like to make him a small tote bag for all his toys... Who knows what else?

Cheryl I like your idea -- D can just grab your photo from that awesome tr you did!

I like her idea too... Still need the link for that Cheryl. :surfweb:

I guess two little Gingers would be better than pole dancing Ginger and Rod the biker.

I am not sure about that... Sounds like mass chaos to me?

Max had a wonderful day yesterday! :lovestruc He spent a lot of time outside with Josh.

I have to work today... So, no sewing for me.

Does anyone have any big plans for Easter this sunday??? What's on the menu? Where are you going - or are you hosting?

My dad and brother are coming down... We are making a ham with home made scalloped potatoes - not sure what other sides... I am doing the potatoes, Josh is doing the ham. Oh and I ordered Easter Bread from a local lady that makes it every year - all of her proceeds go to her MS walk. :lovestruc

Nothing else exciting is going on??? :rolleyes1

D~

It's OK Nini... Did you get my reply?

D~

Nope...must have went to la la land...I just wish I had realized I had that stupid thing set to save all sent messages...couldn't figure out how in the world I had a full inbox....

I am hosting. My brother, his wife, daughter, two sons and grandson will be coming over. I am cooking the ham, making deviled eggs, and banana pudding. He is bringing homemade baked mac and cheese, southern style green beans and cressant rolls. We are going to have an egg hunt for the little ones (my three and his grandson) in the back yard. We have our own family tradition too for Easter breakfast. We make resurrection rolls and talk about why we celebrate Easter. Of course the kids will wake up to Easter baskets filled with unnecessary sugar sitting on the dining room table too. :rolleyes1

Can we talk about 50's? The SAME THING happened to us. I requested a "fun" server to which the hostess said she would make a note of it. We got a regular old server who did NOTHING out of the ordinary. I had purposefully NOT told the kids about this restaurant because I wanted them to sort of "fall into" the fun. They just sat there confused when others were put in the corner, etc. After a while I just had to explain to them what was going on...so disappointing as we watched all the other tables around us having all the fun. :headache:

Nini... I honestly can't even remember what I wrote back to you now... :rolleyes1 That's it - old age is setting in...

This sounds like an amazing Easter to me!

Hmmm... I have a recipe for an amazing home-made Mac n' Cheese (per my MIL)... Maybe I should splurge and make that? Hmmm... I know it calls for a certain cheese that's hard to find locally (so I'm told)... I'll have to dig it out and see if it's something I want to tackle or not?

This totally sucks... I wonder if her name was Elaine too... Or I just wonder if all the servers at 50's have this same attitude? I've heard this story once or twice over the years... Unless everyone just gets lucky and has Elaine? I think it's a horrible attitude to have - especially when you pay buco bucks for the vacation/meal - and you can get the same service at Perkins...

Maybe next time, we'll just go to SciFi... especially since the only reason we go to 50s is for their PB&J Malts - and we found out later in the trip, you can just order them to go at the bar... Wonder if you can do the same thing with the Brownie Sundae? :rolleyes1

We had a male server, so it wasn't Elaine...maybe her evil twin brother? :confused3 I agree that it is a terrible attitude to have! :headache: I just do not know WHERE in DHS to have a table service meal now. We had a bad experience at Sci-Fi when went went in 2011...I just want something fun for my family. Is that too much to ask? :sad2: I am thinking about Hollywood & Vine for the character lunch, just so the kids can get autographs. Any comments or suggestions regarding H&V for lunch? We are not breakfast people.

No comments or suggestions... What about an Epcot/Boardwalk resort? I know you actually would have to leave the park - but you could take a friendship boat there and back?

We haven't given up on SciFi yet... We've never actually eaten there.

Yah - I dunno what to tell you??? Hopefully someone else will have some other suggestions?

We had a rough meal here last March (2011). We waited about 30 minutes for our ADR which wasn't all that bad but the food was awful. Most of it was cool/cold and it seemed like Disney tried to be upscale with some of the buffet offerings without the quality. One particular thing I remember was some type of lobster fettucini (or similar noodle dish) that was tasteless. I'm not picky but it was BAD!!!! Our whole little family ate off the "kids' buffet" because it had baked chicken (that was actually hot) and mashed potatoes!!!

The character interaction was great though and my kids loved dancing around the restaurant with them. I would definitely give Sci Fi or 50s another try over H&V!!

I say go for it at H&V...I'm sure the kids will enjoy the characters, I've head good things from most people about it, we did the breakfast in 07 and I wasn't impressed, but Billie and LG liked it. I will give my report on Sci-Fi when we ate there this year, it's a mixed report to say the least.

I actually like that idea of leaving for the table service. I think there are some really good choices in that Epcot resorts area.

We left off waiting for Woody & Buzz...

It felt like we waited in line forever, because it was so hot outside. We were towards the front of the line - maybe the 7th group? All I know, is the line was very long behind us.

I had to work quick once we were let into the indoor que - I had a bunch of Now n' then photos to take of Victoria from the last trip - which I am not showing you all just yet.

IMG_3514.jpg

I was going as fast as I could, but when we got to the velcro rocket - we were having issues getting the velcro to stay put, so 2 families passed us up. :confused3 I was kind of irritated, because they had no intention of letting me have my spot back... No big deal - but I was annoyed. It's not as if we stood there forever taking pictures, it was a quick click and we were done (after we got the velcro fastened).

IMG_3518.jpg

So, once we were passed by those families, I was able to take more time with pictures, because we were at the end of the line now - everyone behind us was still back there taking pictures.

IMG_3519.jpg

Once I'd snapped this picture, the family that was initially right behind us got my attention, and told the girls and I to come back to our rightful spot. I told them it was OK - I'd lost my spot in line - but then the Mom of the family piped up and said that I was in line before them, and I should really take my spot back - she insisted. So, I shrugged my shoulders, thanked them profusely, and went back to my original spot. The other family barely let us through the line, and were very rude about the whole ordeal... Which is fine - I totally understand - maybe they didn't actually notice us up there the entire 20 minutes we were sitting outside in the sun?

So, we all got to meet Woody & Buzz...
IMG_3526.jpg

Once we were done, we walked out the door - our FP return window had just started, so we went in. The line for FP was very long - the end of it was directly inside the door... If I was to guess, we had to wait in the FP line for about 30 minutes before we actually boarded our ride vehicle. Kind of annoying too - but whatever.

I can say that this FP enforcement really sucks, and until Disney gets it figured out, it's going to continue to be really annoying.

IMG_3528.jpg

I always take a lot of pictures in the TSM que, because I just love it.

IMG_3532.jpg

IMG_3534.jpg

I sat next to Alli - V was right behind us in the same vehicle.

I was trying to get my camera out to take a picture of our scores, but I was too slow, and all I got was this:
IMG_3535.jpg

I do know that Alli beat my score. I do not know what V's score was.

Once we came off of TSM, we made our way back to ToT to use our FP from earlier.

The FP return line was just as long as it was earlier. And what made it even longer is that there was a cheer team in the standby que right next to us - under the overhang right in front of us - you can kind of see it here...
IMG_3537.jpg

THey were super loud and super obnoxious... Lots of high pitched screaming - you know... Added to the echoing feature of that overhang... Even the girls were super irritated - and it was giving V a headache.

I was very glad that we passed them up rather quickly.

IMG_3538.jpg

After about 10 minutes in line, we were into the building.
IMG_3539.jpg

I took a lot of pictures, because the theme of the que of this line is pretty awesome. At this point, I am still planning to take the chicken exit.

IMG_3540.jpg

IMG_3541.jpg

We had made it through to the basement, and once we were down there, it didn't take us long to get to the elevators. The whole way, the girls were trying to keep me in line for the ride - I was ready to leave.

Once we got to the elevator - the girls had pretty much talked me into doing the ride. But the CM tried to put me in the front row and I protested - LOL - I told her that I was barely getting on the ride in the first place - put me in the back please. LOL

I buckled myself in as tight as I could - and triple checked all of our belts.

This was it - the end of my life.

IMG_3544.jpg

See - I actually rode ToT... That's me - in the back - hanging on for dear life! And you know what - I kind of rather enjoyed it. :rolleyes1

When we came off of the ride - I fully intended to purchase a photo of this momentous occasion, but *cough* *cough* $19 *cough* for one photo - this tightwad couldn't justify paying that. I settled for a ToT pin to commemorate.

As I was checking out with my meesly pin - we looked outside and it was POURING RAIN... So, I splurged and purchased each of us a Disney poncho. Now, I know that some of you are thinking that this was a waste of $$, but considering the season, I knew I was going to buy a set of Disney ponchos at some point on this trip - so I kind of had it worked into the budget.

Since it was raining, and we had done everything we wanted to do that day in the park, we decided to call it a day, go back to the resort to relax and rest.

However, on the way towards the exit - I saw Starring Rolls - and I just HAD to have a goody from there. I went to open the door, and it was locked! Huh??? I guess they close early? Bummer! I guess that's something for our next trip?

IMG_3545.jpg

IMG_3546.jpg

We hopped on the bus to POFQ.

We relaxed in our room for about an hour, then we decided to head down to SFW for dinner. No pictures again, but we had...

A: Fried Chicken and M&M cookie
V: Meatball sub and CC Cookie
D: Fried Chicken and Mickey Rice Krispy treat (which I brought back to the room for later)

I made a note in my journal that there is soooo much food on the dining plan.

After dinner, we went back to our room, watched some TV and relaxed. I will make a note here, that our remote never worked for our TV. V brought it down to the concierge at one point, and they gave her a different one, but that one never worked either. :confused3

What a fun day! I'm with you on the knowing we'll be buying a set of ponchos while we're there...

I'm usually really picky (especially when it comes to buffets) but I can generally find enough food at H&V to fill up. . . We've done both Breakfast and Lunch there (and lunch I was preggers and uber uber picky and still liked it). . .I can't beat the character interaction (and it's Jake, Oso, Manny & June these days, so my kids were in HEAVEN . . .you can look at my TR for pics). . .especially with characters that are only in that park, kwim?
I do agree that some of the dishes are a little ??? but I think it's a case of Disney wanting to make it special but there not being a THEME to the food of that restaurant. . .

D~ LOVE the latest post!!! Sorry for a quick drive-by post, gotta go get dressed for work!

I love your ToT picture! You look TERRIFIED!!! It's great! Now you know how I feel. :lmao: Next time, we'll all have to ride together. Your girls and my DD can toss their hands up in the air, and we'll hold on to each other for dear life. Deal? :rotfl2:

I'm glad that the family who passed you up let you back in line. I have no issues with people passing others up if the queue is say ... empty or so and they're stopping for pictures. But when you aren't going anywhere? Jeebus, take a chill pill and WAIT. Those lines move so slow anyway. Let people snap their pictures. :sad2:

I've always had issues with the TV and/or remote. Every year. Every year I have to call maintenance. Every year they have to fix the TV (it was always the TV, not the remote when it was a remote problem).

And yes, Starring Rolls does close early. I think it's 4pm?

You are much braver than me! Even before my surgery I would not have been caught dead on ToT! I wouldn't have even gone into the queue!

(dark, tight places and heights do not equal a fun ride for me!)

I've ridden RnR once, way before surgery, and will never have to ride it again!

I have even rode EE once...again, now that I have ridden I will never be expected to again! LOL!

(oddly enough I used to be a thrill junkie! I rode every roller coaster I could find...maybe I finally wised up when I got older...who knows!)

My kids are trying to figure out how they can con Dad into riding ToT with them this trip...since we are going by our self...and Mom will not let them ride by their selves.

Some one asked about a lunch spot in DHS...I have never eaten a TS at DHS...but we have been to H&V every rip for the past 5 years. With the exception of this past trip we have loved it. Great food and even greater service. Of course, we have only gone for dinner, so no characters.

Our last trip there was an early dinner...around 3 and the service was terrible and the food was lukewarm... we are going to try Mama Melrose this trip, even though my daughter and her husband said it was terrible last year...

See...no help here what so ever! LOL!

Nini

Sounds like a great day at DHS. Loved the Toy Story Pictures.

great update! I don't do tower of terror either...maybe one day my kids will make me, but for now, dh is the only one who likes it!

Yay for conquering ToT!!!! DD12 LOVES this ride. When I went on it last year, I had not been on it in so long that my heart was pounding from the not knowing. This year was a cinch. I just "ignore" the story and all the mind games they play and just grabbed the handles and took the ride...just as a ride. Up and down, up and down. It didn't bother me at all.
DD12 made me smile. She doesn't really get worked up about much. But I noticed this time that she lets the story get her scared and then with all the ups and downs, ins and outs she was breathless and her heart was pounding to beat the band by the time we came off it. And she had the BIGGEST smile on her face ever as she went on and on about how awesome and fun it was. It was a really neat moment for me...oh to be young again when everything is so adventurous and exciting. :cloud9:

So mixed reviews about H&V...I have put the Cape May buffet on my wish list for next year. It could be on Epcot day or DHS day...

Love the photos in line for Buzz and Woody. We didn't try to see them because the line was too long and we were headed to the stunt car show. I chuckled at your picture of TSM scores! We had the same score! :lmao: This was our first time on it and we loved it! I was so hoping you rode ToT! I rode it in 2008 and I was going to ride it again but my BIL wanted to ride it too, so I ended up taking the 3 kids with me to get FP for TSM. DH said it was worth it to take his brother as he screamed like a little girl the entire way down! He said it was even better than my reaction in 2008. (Nope, not gonna tell you what I did. Can't make me.) Can't wait to see your now and then pictures!
