Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

OMG :worship: I have never seen the movie either but I just love that bag. Nice find on the fabric... I know it is hard to find.

 MM is getting so big but still so adorable.

Nini.... Hugs and prayers

Oh my gosh that zipper pull of Zero is so cool!! I have never seen the movie either, but I learned his name when we had pet costumes of him for Halloween one year at the store! The appliques on the bag are wonderful too!

Great blanket V! It takes patience to do those!

And Max...so us he chewing on the table he used to sleep on? He is so HANDSOME!

Lynn

Oh my gosh. This thread moves so fast I can't keep up! Love the newest bag. You truly are a genius with fabric!

This was a fun bag to make too... I love that this person chose to do something very unique...

I will be the first to admit that this bag kind of scared me. I've never seen the movie (although it's one of the girls' favs - so I asked their opinions constantly), in the end, I am very pleased with how this bag turned out.

And the zipper pull... I was so sure that I wouldn't be able to pull this one off, so we even had a back-up plan, just in case... I am so happy that it turned out!

Thanks for looking... Now, on to my next bag...

D~

This bag is absolutely fabulous. Just totally love it.

And Chiara - your post made me spit out my water (notice, I said water...)

D~

Love you too and glad you are drinking your water.

lol... Sorry, I didn't mean to cause tears.

I also wanted to give a major shout out to all you ladies. I went to the Everything Applique Conference this past weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed going and meeting some super sweet, talented people. The girls I sat beside the majority of the time owned a 16!!!! needle machine. I have to admit tho, as far as the Applique/Embroidery part went, I learned absolutely nothing new in our breakout groups. Everything that they covered I had already learned from ya'll. I think that says a tremendous amount about what an amazing group of women we have here! :worship:

They were good tears so it is all good.

Beth..

I had originally planned on attending that in B'ham.... but with the drama with the Grand Princess I changed my mind. I'm glad to know you didn't learn anything new...maybe next year!

Nini

PS...Threadjacking here...PLEASE keep my Grand Princess in your prayers. Today's procedure did NOT go well. We are going to have to make some hard decisions in the next few days...(and I don't think I have ever come this close to murder in my heart in my LIFE!)

Prayers still going up for GrandPrincess. When people we love don't receive the care we know they deserve it's so frustrating but when it's a child who doesn't have their own voice it's even worse. :(

They did give us a little insight on next year's conference. It's probably going to be a TWO day event. But on the downside that probably means it will be more expensive. They have a lot of adjustments to make but I have to say for the short amount of time they had to put together, it was a pretty amazing conference. There were over 700 people there. They had A LOT of prizes and give- a-ways which was nice. But the vendors were scarce and hard to get to since there were so many people there. Sewingmachine.com has a store here in ATL so I wasn't too worried about them. I was hoping to buy some software at a reasonable price but no luck. All the digitizers there (Applique Corner/Cafe/Momma/Market/Junkie/Itch2Stitch and EmbBoutique were really nice and I think a little surprised at their "star" status.

I would go again for the fellowship and to see if anything changes(if the price isn't jacked up). I think they had us in groups by experience and maybe I shouldn't have went as a beginner but I still feel like I have a lot to learn. The other girls who had way more experience than I did and were in different groups seemed to feel the same way... they didn't really learn technically anything new.

I took 12 pages of notes in 4-45minute classes. I learned a lot about Embird... they used this in the software class and really turned me onto buying it. I did learn a good bit about marketing/photography. And some little tips like: a lot of women like polyester thread because you can burn your jump threads off quickly with a lighter (no clipping with scissors), using a paper bag with glue dots, hang the bag off the side of your sewing table and just scrape the clipped thread into the bag quickly. I learned that Schmetz needles are best because the eye of the needle is actually hand polished and it causes less shredding of your thread and to clean your needle when it's gunky with an alcohol pad. Dawn power desolver will take all the gunky off your hoops without scrubbing, just soak 20 minutes then wipe clean. And then they had a session about backing up files/cloud- but my husband is a cloud guy so I was pretty bored with that part. hehe.

Maybe if we start saving now we can do a dismeet there next year!

Sorry to add to the thread hijacking. :rolleyes1

Wow! Three pages in one day... I can't keep up with you all!

Fabulous Belle bag and great that Marianne could help you out. I suppose you couldn't really ask Beth for help on her own bag Once you photobucket is bag up I'd love it if you would post a collage of all the bags you've done so far.

And Beth is a sweetie -- she is making a bow to coordinate with a BG dress I just made (BTW Beth, I posted a pic of the finished dress on the BG site, though I think you got the jest of the colors from the unassembled pic I posted).

Thanks! Yes, Marianne was a lifesaver. I will try to do a collage... There is a lot there... If only I had Kim's photography skills.

Beth is awesome! Her bows are magnificant... If anyone needs any bows or anything to coordinate with outfits, you can contact Blyssfull on The Dis... I know she has a website, but I can't seem to locate my link...

Your work is just beautiful. You are so talented.

Awww... Thanks so much!

Sorry work was a bummer.

I can't wait to see your next creation.

I cut 2 skirts out yesterday one was for a big give and the other is for the sneak peek I posted the other day.

I also have a couple other ideas I want to work on but have some orders that I must work on.

I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve C!

Love the new bag! I am so excited to get my Pluto one!

Thanks! I am excited for you to get your pluto one!

Even though they frowned on your leaving, it's a good thing you were able to! Retail is such a different ball game than other jobs.

When I had a miscarriage dh wasn't able to leave his job until someone was able to come in and replace him. Thank goodness I go to a church where people are more than willing to help out. I made one phone call and within minutes someone was there to take Grumpy to school and someone else to take me to the doc. Others actually brought us meals. Wonderful people!

Too bad the jeans didn't fit well. Are you able to take them in where they are too big?

Yes, retail is a very un-understanding job... and it's so frustrating. I can't believe that his employers wouldn't let him go until someone got there - I get so irritated by that... If I was ever in that situation - I dunno what I would do - but I would probably walk out. I know that most people don't have that luxury.

I don't think I can take them in?? They are too big in the waist/crotch area, and she won't touch them if they are too big there? :faint: I will look at them though, to see if I can, because it's such a waste if she won't wear them!

The set is fabulous! You both did outstanding work as usual.
anxious to see your next bag too

Thank you!

Puppies grow fast LOL.

I love that blanket that V made. What a fabulous fabric choice.

Thank you! I will tell V... She'll be so happy that everyone loves her blanket, she is very good at making them.

I know, I can't believe how fast MM is growing!

bummer about the pants not fitting...

max is getting so big!

love the blanket...the fabric looks so soft and pretty!

know your review will be great and hope you get a decent raise this year!!

Thanks LIsa... I will tell V that you loved her blanket too!

Wow, Max is getting so big. Do both girls sew? V made a great present!!

I know, I can't believe how big he is getting!

No, only V sews... and she is pretty good at it. If she can get into the sewing room to ever to work on anything. The space is too small for both of us to be in there at the same time - and when I am in there - stuff is flying everywhere. LOL

Max is getting big fast.

too funny that V said you had to buy your own fabric

Yah - she's a character. Max is getting so big... we are starting to let him have a little more freedom these days, as in, now that he is good about telling us when he has to go potty - we don't lock him in his kennel too often, only at night or if we are gone for the day. We still have him confined to the kitchen - only because the rest of the house isn't puppy proofed. We do let him into the other areas if we are in there watching him though.

Hi! I had to pop over. I just posted the pics I took (one of the inside of the bag too) on the Disboutiquers board!

Just a little 411.. I grew up with 2 older brothers and always hung out with boys. I'm not a "girly girl" nor do I much care for the "cattiness" of women so my girlfriends are in limited numbers. As in- my mom, and 2 females I stay in touch with on a regular basis and even one of those being a cousin. I CRIED when I opened this!! I am not the typical female thinker/emotion but I was so touched. I bet the people in car rider line thought I was crazy! :)

I am still just so humbled at all the amazing goodies that you sent me! I love each and every thing. I thought "man, this package is a little big for a wallet". ;)

Thank you so incredibly much for everything: your time, your thoughtfulness, your willingness to see beyond the obvious. A special thank you to Marianne too, I love my Belle. You did a fantastic job on the applique. D~ I think you hit it just right with the Ms. Potts and Chip. Pictures really don't show the amazing quality!

I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends in my life from the Dis and I feel even more blessed that I've found women who have such amazing hearts and really want the best for each other. It is absolutely a treasure in life to find people who are so supportive and giving.

I just wanted to thank you again Beth - for such a nice thank you note. It really means a lot to me!

Love love love the fabric V used on that blanket! Love flowers :)

She picked it herself, and she did an awesome job on it! I've never even showed her how to make those blankets, she just taught herself.

WOW another awesome bag D~ your creative mind is WOW, can't think of another word, just WOW!

Thanks Lisa!

D~,

Your bags are amazing! I loved the Beauty and Beast set - what a wonderful gift for someone special! While Cinderella is my all time favorite movie, Beauty and the Beast is a close second. I love Belle because she is a brown eyed brunette with brains and the story was great too!

Your Sally bag was incredible - words do not do it justice. You are a very talented designer!

I also loved the photos of MM. He is adorable. They really grow so fast, don't they!

Your daughter's blanket was very nice. My dd, who is 8, is wanting to learn to sew, so I have been starting with teaching her basic hand stitches and she is 'creating' outfits for her AG pets. Before I know it, she'll want to start on my machine, so maybe I'll have her do some pillowcases (after I take my machine to the spa). They would be a good first project, right?

Thank you so much for all the compliments.

Your dd is probably at a very good age to learn to sew... and doll outfits are the perfect way to learn - usually they are pretty simple, done quickly - so it's simple gratification. Pillow cases are a great start though, and then from there, I would start with a really easy doll outfit... maybe a skirt? There's quite a few easy patterns at Liberty Jane for doll outfits, and even if you were to buy them from her - they are really inexpensive.

I'm excited to meet y'all as well! It'll be here before we know it!

lol... Sorry, I didn't mean to cause tears.

This is great! I've never seen the movie either. Stitching out A's Jack Skellington clippie was giving me the heebeejeebee's too.

It was a good cry! I did open the Pixie Dust first before the card. I'm really glad you kept it a surprise! I looked on the package... I think the issue with the delivery is that it was addressed to 2137 and I'm 2132. :) Kudos to the PO man!

I also wanted to give a major shout out to all you ladies. I went to the Everything Applique Conference this past weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed going and meeting some super sweet, talented people. ACK!!! I could have sworn I put 2132... Shoot - I am very glad the carrier was able to figure it out.

The tears were good - no worries.

I agree - we do have a very talented group of ladies here on The Dis!

WOW that bag with A nightmare before Christmas is great I would love to have a bag like that

Thanks! It was a fun bag to make! :)

Beth..

I had originally planned on attending that in B'ham.... but with the drama with the Grand Princess I changed my mind. I'm glad to know you didn't learn anything new...maybe next year!

PS...Threadjacking here...PLEASE keep my Grand Princess in your prayers. Today's procedure did NOT go well. We are going to have to make some hard decisions in the next few days...(and I don't think I have ever come this close to murder in my heart in my LIFE!)

Please know that your Grandprincess has been in my thoughts and prayers a lot these last few weeks... She doesn't deserve this, I hope you are able to find a Dr that can fix what the other Dr did wrong and an attorney that can get justice for her and her family.

LOVE that Nightmare bag!!! Love Sally, love Sally's lips, love her dress, LOVE Zero!!!!

Max is getting so big! He still so cute!

Love that fabric! V did such a great job! How did she cut the ties all so even? I'm sure the bday girl will LOVE it!

Thanks!

I am not sure how V did it... All I know is that she used my good Gingher scissors and now it's dull... :faint: I will ask her for ya. :thumbsup2

D, that was very sweet of you to PD the "Belle" set. It was an amazing set for an amazing person!

Also, totally loved the NBC Sally bag! It's one of my favorite movies, and you did an amazing job!

And I had 4 or 5 pages to read, so I already forgot half of what I read. So sorry for not commenting on other things!

Thanks Liddy - and thanks for stopping by - I kn ow you are busy right now.

Love the Nightmare Befoe Christmas bag. That looks great!!! It actaully become one of my kids favorite movies all because when we go to Disneyland during our Christmas trips the Haunted Mansion is changed over to the Nightmare Before Christmas. I think they prefer that version over the normal version!!

Love that V made a personal gift for her friend's birthday. Those are some of the gifts I treasured most!!

Ahhhh love the pics of Max. Makes me miss out golden retriever that we had growing up. One day we'll get another puppy just waiting for the time to be right.

Thanks Sandra! I do love the music from NBC - that's for sure!

V likes to make things for people... I wish I could hire her. LOL Can't afford it though. LOL

Max is a character, that's for sure. He got to see his first thunderstorm last night, poor guy - I felt so bad for him. Ruf didn't like thunderstorms either. I hope you can get a puppy soon - they are so much work, but such good companions.

The NBC bag is great too!! My niece is a huge NBC fan. She would approve of that bag too!!

You should watch the movie sometime. It's not a scary movie. The music is very catchy too.

Thanks Tink! Yes, I do love the music on NBC!

Ok, I had to quote myself because I should have said once your photobucket is BACK up -- not bag up! I've had a rough day today -- I made two appliques for Amy and sewed one to the other (caught it on the tack down so was able to rescue it!) and then I did an applique right after that for my dd and yes, the fabric AGAIN ended up under the hoop and while the applique looks great it ruined the skirt panel! I'm going to blame it on hormones and the heat.

MM was looking so big that I really thought he'd weigh more! So you know how you do pics of the girls in the same spots at Dis from visit to visit? Well, I'd really like to see you cram Max into that table for a comparison shot

ACK!!! That really is a bummer about the skirt panel!

ROFL about shoving Max into the table - I don't think he'd appreciate it.

V's blanket is great! So I just need to let her know when my birthday is?

Probably...

WOW!!! I have never seen NBC either but I am most impressed with your Sallly!!!!! And love the interior fabric! I hope this bag is going to the Dismeet -- I want to see this one in person! And I have no clue who or what is on the zipper pull (looks ghostish -- again, haven't seen NBC) but the pull is superb! Very well done

Thanks! As far as I know, it will not be at the Dismeet.

Totally awesome bag! And how cool is it that you stumbled across that fabric.

Thanks - yah it was an awesome find... very expensive - but I just had to have it on this bag! :)

Andrea....bummer about your shirts today...

the zipper pull is the ghost dog, can't remember his name though

His name is Zero. :thumbsup2

OMG : I have never seen the movie either but I just love that bag. Nice find on the fabric... I know it is hard to find.
MM is getting so big but still so adorable.

Thanks Michelle!

Yah - it won't be long now and he'll be bigger than Ruf. His paws are already bigger than Ruf's were!

Lynn

THanks Lynn... What I love most about the Zero zipper pull, is that the swirls curl up - very ghostly like. :)

Nope, he isn't chewing on the table - yet.... He chews on almost everything else though...

Oh my gosh. This thread moves so fast I can't keep up! Love the newest bag. You truly are a genius with fabric!

Sorry... I can barely keep up either! LOL And thanks! You're a genius with your photography too - so I guess we all have our talents. :lovestruc

This bag is absolutely fabulous. Just totally love it.

Love you too and glad you are drinking your water.

They were good tears so it is all good.

Sorry to add to the thread hijacking. :rolleyes1

You can hijack any time Beth! :thumbsup2

I had a busy day yesterday... I finished up the NBC bag in the morning. Then I cut out my next bag... Then I realized that I am OUT of orange fabric - like totally and completely out! I cannot do this bag with out orange fabric... So, I have to take 2 hours out of my day to drive to the nearest Hancock's, so I can purchase the orange fabric. I am so irritated by this, because I just don't have the time to fool around. It was even on my list - I don't know what I was thinking - actually, I do... I think I accidentally got school bus yellow instead. I am just so frustrated with myself over this.

So, I am headed to the fabric store right away this morning, so hopefully I can be back here early and have a semi-productive day today.

I was hoping to do an update this morning, but I am not sure if that is going to happen now?

D~

I hate when you run out of a fabric you need and use a lot.

I am having a semi good morning so far. I just wish this nagging cough I have would go away LOL.

/
Josh reminded me that I can go to the local boutique fabric store... I will pay a small fortune for it, and they don't carry the same brand of solids I always use - but they do carry something comparible... but it will save me about 1 1/2 hours... So, I am just going to do that.

Josh saved the day - again. ;)

D~

And some little tips like: a lot of women like polyester thread because you can burn your jump threads off quickly with a lighter (no clipping with scissors)

:scared1: That is just scary.... how do they do that without burning the shirt?

Glad to know about Schmetz needles. That is what I always use.:thumbsup2

MM is getting SO big. I love the picture of him wrapped like a baby in the blanket!
V is so right ,the material for those blankets is expensive but they are so warm. She did a beautiful job. Love the new bag. I never watched the move but love your choices.

I only use Shmetz needles :) and my machine hates polyester thread and I would be :scared1: to burn the thread :confused3

Yes but sometimes convenience is worth the price :) which reminds me I have to go to the local sewing shop to get the checkered flag fabric I need.

:scared1: That is just scary.... how do they do that without burning the shirt?

I agree very scary :)

good luck on your shopping trip.....hmm orange, what are you creating now? maybe a goofy bag?

I only use Shmetz needles :) and my machine hates polyester thread and I would be :scared1: to burn the thread :confused3

I just had to add my .02¢

I used to only use Schmetz needles... Then when I got the Singer Siblings - in all my research, it said I must use Singer needles on the vintage machines... So, I picked up a pack - and sure enough... The Singer needles are about half a mm longer than the Schmetz needles. You wouldn't think that it would make that much difference - but on a vintage machine - it's huge! So, now I only use Singer needles.

And, as for the poly thread... You all know about my continuous war between Mr. R and anything but Gutermann poly thread... :headache:

We won't even talk about my fabric snobbery... :faint:

D~

OK, so some of you have been following my IRL updates...

We are having a progressive dinner on Friday night, which includes Josh and I, and then 3 other couples who live near us.

The other ladies and I couldn't think of a "theme"... So we went with "crock pot" and "appetizers" + plus you had to drink whatever is served at each house. :rolleyes1

I do not know what everyone else is serving (well, I sort of do)... But I have finally decided what I am doing - sort of.

Appetizers will be:
Reuben dip
Sausage and cream cheese wontons
Build your own chicken nachos (thanks to Marianne)

The reason I added the "build your own chicken nachos" is because I was looking for something a bit more healthy to serve (those pics from Disney are frightening).

I was thinking that I would serve some really awesome beverages... but then I looked in our liquor cabinet (ahem - basement) and realized I have umteen million half full (or more) bottles of alcohol... So, I think it's going to be a "left over" night for beverages... Shhhhh.... Don't tell. I do have some good stuff down there, so I don't think anyone will care. I even have a bottle of TGIFridays Mudslide in my fridge. :smokin:

Ok - so that was my IRL update. :rolleyes1

D~

DMGeurts Do you have a webpage where you sell bags that you have made?

I've been thinking about things lately, and I cannot get your bags off of my mind!
I have one question, can you do (moreorless..)any image? Say if I had my own drawing of.. lets use Ariel for this example, would that be able to put on a bag?

I love your trip report, and your bags. And your dog, and seeing your two beautiful daughters that it brings such a smile to my face when I check here :)
