"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

I may have missed it somewhere, but is there a Disboards meet aside from the Palo brunch when we get onboard? :rolleyes1

Hi, I think it is just the Palo meet, but I did notice that there was a wait list for that. I saw another one being suggested for the night before departure in Barcelona. We arrive from London early on the day of departure. Plan to stay in Barcelona for 2 days after the cruise.

I have seen others mention excursions for Barcelona. We have been there in the last two years. It is not a big city and almost everyone we met spoke english. I don't think you need an excursion to see the city. There are easy cabs to catch and an easy subway. I even used the subway, so it must be easy. We also walked everywhere too.

La Sagrada is amazing. It will take about an hour to see walk through it and back out the front. The Gaudi buildings are everywhere, however very plentiful on Passig de Garcia (which is where the chic shopping is). Las Ramblas and Barri Gotic must be done on foot.

For the a few days the center of most exploration is the area around the Plaça Catalunya which makes up the city's historical center. This includes Passeig de Gràcia, the Rambla de Catalunya, the Barri Gòtic and the upper half of the Avinguda Diagonal, which is the main commercial area of the city.

There was a two story bus with the top open that my family took, I am sure while I was shopping, but they reported that is was a great way to get an overview. It was red and there were ads for it in the hotels.

Getting the opportunity to return to Barcelona was actually one of the reasons we are taking the trip.

Yes... I posted this question a few pages back but nobody responded. The person who was going to host the DisMeet in her Category 3 room rescheduled her cruise to a later date. So I was wondering if we were still doing a meet?

I signed up for the Palo group brunch and honestly the person who is organizing it hasn't posted on this board in a long time. Something must of happened to him. In fact, I posted an APB on him a couple pages back and he didn't respond. I might try the website he designed. But as of now I'm not counting on that group brunch. Which is kinda sad. Hopefully, he'll come back. Maybe he is just having computer problems???

Perhaps we can have a group get together just before heading over to the port to check in? Some tapas and wine to get us going????? I can check the library of a million guide books at my house for a spot that fits the bill.

Best, Carol

I've booked Transfers from my hotel, so I'm not sure what time I would be available? What hotel is everyone staying at? Maybe breakfast?

This is my first cruise so I'm not sure of the lay of the ship yet, so I can't suggest anything. I know one prior suggestions was a mignight pizza party on the last night.

Another idea might be to meet just before the Sail-Away-Party. If we are all wearing our shirts this might be a good time for a group photo and a chance to meet at the beginning of the cruise. :grouphug:

On deck 10 somewhere near the Goofy Pool overlook -- it is close to a bar and is usually less crowded. Although they Disney staff will be walking around with drink trays so we won't get thirsty!!:thumbsup2 party:

Sounds like a plan ... Shall we just say this will be our first DIS meet and plan on seeing everyone there. I look forward to meeting everyone! What colour shirt did everyone get? I haven't quite decided on colour yet. I'm thinking about the light blue? What are others getting? I also managed to pick up some green Mickey's from Home Depot :). I'll probably have them somewhere on me!!

Gee, I wonder if we're on the same flight? We're stopping in London from the 4th until Saturday morning. We leave just after 7 AM for Barcelona on British Airways.

We are staying one day in Barcelona when we return. We have a room at a hotel right on Las Ramblas. I understand the jump on jump off bus is just a short distance away. Way too much to see in a short time, but a great vacation is one that leaves you wanting more. Then you can plan for a return trip some day. :cloud9:

We arrive in London on July 5th and are staying at the Intercontinental London Park. Planning on sight seeing and Old Globe for at least 2 plays. I KNOW that we will go to an Indian Restuarant, Amaya, one night.

Our flight to BCN is British Air at 9:25am arriving at 12:30. Does anyone know what time we are supposed to board the ship?

I am guessing that our luggage will get picked up at the airport, that we may take the bus/shuttle to the Port. But I want to walk around from there. The Port is very close to some interesting parts of town.

The Outlook is a deck area behind the Spa. Studio Sea is indoors and is a family night club/ activity place on deck 5, I think.

I wonder when Disney will do the sailaway party, I'm assuming at 9 pm. So all those with late seating would miss it??:confused3 It says on the Disney site that we leave port at 9 pm.

We have early seating... Maybe we should do a new roll call and everyone can list who's in their party and whether they have early or late seating for dinner.

I called Disney about what time to board and they said the usual time between noon & 1 pm. We were planning on going to port early then, eat lunch at the buffet. After lunch if we aren't too tired we were gonna walk around the port area there. Otherwise, we weren't planning on touring Barcelona until the last day as our flight doesn't leave until the following day.

In addition to that I'm just not sure how we'll be feeling jetlag wise. So we might play it by ear for the 1st day. I'm coming from the West Coast. We fly out on July 5th at 4 pm arriving in Barcelona on July 6th at 4 pm. Would we be over jetlag by Saturday?

You probably wont be too jet lagged going there. I didn't know we could check in and then also leave the ship. That sounds like a great plan!!!!

Hi,
I was reading your post and noticed you lived in CA, we live in CA too and will also be on the 7-7-07 cruise. Where at in CA do you live? We are south O.C. We have a boy 8 and girl 4. We are all so excited for this vacation, it is coming soon. This is our first Disney Cruise so we have not booked anything yet. 1 more week to book.

Thanks for posting some specific details. Since this is our first trip to Europe and we are visiting London and Paris post-cruise, I'm taking notes on things to do and places to go (eat). There are so many choices - knowing some good places to eat will help with the some decisions.

Anyone else have any "must go to"s?
