"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

Dear Denise,

Welcome Aboard!!

I too had trouble getting on the DCL website ( to book Spa ressies ) and a kind DIS’er suggested I go through Internet Explorer, instead of AOL. For some reason (beyond my computer understanding!:confused3 ) after hours of trying though AOL – I was able to get right on and book! I don’t know if this will help you – but thought it might be worth a try!

As far as links to Excursion info – here is the thread on DIS for Med Excursions – there is some info on here about doing them on your own:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1314699

Also – here is a link to the Cruise Critic message boards for Eastern and Western Med ports that has LOTS of info from experienced Med cruisers:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=234

And, we (my DH and 2 sons ( 18 & 12 ) and I ) have booked a private driver for our stop in Naples – we will go to Pompeii ( have also reserved a private guide) and drive along the Amalfi coast. There is room for 4 more people to share this tour – so let me know if you are interested in sharing the cost/tour with us – you can email me at shercara@aol.com.

GOOD LUCK!
Sherri

This might be a really dumb question... but, does anybody know if we're going to be on the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder? Thanks!

Hey John ... I noticed the Lime Green one is gone from the website???? Is that colour sold out, or have they dropped that choice? I'm thinking about it and wondering what colour everyone is thinking about getting? Thanks.

BTW ... They look great!

Sorry about that. I was making some changes the other night and that one got dropped. It should be available now.

I like the t-shirt idea. I know Disney is very protective of trademarks. But isn't it a fairly common occurrence for families and groups to make their own t-shirts when visiting WDW? Do the guards do anything if a group walks in with "contraban" trademark infringing t-shirts? pirate:

Just curious...

there are three of us, dh, dd (17) and me. Do we book the excursions on dcl or try own our own? I got a email from a company I wrote to in Villefranche re a tour. Sounds great but for 2-8 people it is the same price 600 euro!! I don't want to be hunting for extra people to join us....the same tour, if available thru dcl is $149 US each or $447 for 3 instead of $600 for 3 of us. Just don't know what to do.
We want to climb Pisa but all the talk is that is sold out.
What is everyone doing for their excursions?
Also does everyone think more Palos will open up on the 23rd? Was only able to get dinner on the say we are in Palermo. Would like to get high tea and brunch too.

Hi Denise, and welcome!

From my own experience on our 2nd and 3rd DCL cruise, Palo reservations went quick. We decided the 1st DCL cruise we took, a 4 day, to just stick with the main dining rooms. When I tried to book at 7 AM for our 5/13/06Eastern cruise, only dinners were available. I tried consntantly to book high tea and brunch before boarding and could not. I also tried to book dinner for 3/4 people, but only 1/2 were available. My parents and FIL were on the cruise with us and they never could book any online. Once we boarded and ate, we went straight to the area to make changes and got exactly what we wanted and when we wanted it. There seemed to be lots of dinner slots available. We did get brunch the day/time we wanted too. High tea was booked and we got on a wait list but never got a call. We figured we would try it on a later DCL trip. I'm sure with our trip being 11 days, there will be an abundance of dinner reservations and at least several available on the 3 days of brunch reservations. Last December we did a 3 day DCL trip and also stuck to the main dining rooms. People on our cruise meets thread said the dinners went quick. I know that there were available slots when we boarded because we met a family that didn't know if they wanted to do Palo and didn't prebook. We later saw them and they had gotten in.

last cruise we booked Palo's on line then changed on board. Figure we can add brunch or high tea on board.
Just don't know about the side trips. we always just wing it and really do our own thing. But this time may be different. My dh has been to Italy many times but it is the first for me and dd. He says it will not be the last so not to worry!!:cool1:
are you doing side trips?

I actually ran into issues with with Cafe Press (CP). My first design I was working on was rejected by them. I didn't even publish it, I just had the graphics (no wording) I was working on uploaded just to see how it looked, and I received a "no no" email from CP saying it was too close to copy righted materials.

This is the graphics I was working on and hoping to use. As you can see, there are some subtle changes, but I think the darn torches gave it away. Maybe I can try doing it again with the words and see if it will fly.

Now, I could go ahead and finish it, then post it. I can't stop anyone from down loading and printing an iron-on transfer :teeth:

Ciao, :wave2:

Hi All ... Just found out there is a cool Travel Expo coming to Toronto next weekend (19-22) that I'm going to check out. I'll let you all know if I get any cool supplies or tips!

If you want to use that official POTC picture without worrying about them not printing it, I saw that Disneyshopping.com has a custom area to create shirts and had that design along with quite a few Mickey and character designs. There was a cute one of the main gang in surfing attire/Hawaiian grass skirts and one of Minnie and "Hola" written on it. I didn't go into the creative area, but it said you can add certain phrases and the prices looked decent. The link was http://www.zazzle.com/collections/disneyinkshop/default.asp?from=d

I have seen quite a few people wearing iron -ons with Disboards/Disney characters printed on them on board past cruises, but we haven't personally done them. I was a bit intimidated with the whole iron part and melting them.

We went to Disney on Ice tonight at Hershey Arena and it REALLY made us want to be at WDW or on the cruise!

I just checked to make sure the link worked and the name on the tshirt in the advertisement says Brennan...ds6's name!! The only other Brennan we've run across was on our 1st DCL cruise and it was a girl.

Wow, when I first glanced at the skull, I thought it was the POTC one too. :)
I guess I can understand their reluctance. Wouldn't want Disney coming after me! :rotfl:

I wonder if Disney has considered a custom print service using their logos and characters. They could profit from the sales, and make any decision on what is an appropriate use or not, while safeguarding their image. :rolleyes1

I have yet to see the VIP Pisa tour become available, as the DCL agent said it would on either Monday or Tuesday. I called them back a few minutes ago to see if it had become available and I missed it, if it was sold out or if they booked us. The agent said, "It's a VIP tour so it won't be available to all guests, just VIPs." What??? That was a first. I told her (very nicely) how I was told it would become available, etc. and she did find a note in our file we were to be called if we could book...but to be told only VIP's can book some of the tours? She said it has very limited avaialbility and not for all guests which I understand and I understand concierge gets first pick but how is DCL going to decide who else gets "chosen?" Something tells me she's full of it and I really should call back to see if I can speak with someone else and get another story. Has anyone else called to check about any other VIP tours? I thought I saw some got VIP tours of the Vatican?

That is just wrong. If it was true then, why did I get the VIP Vatican tour but I can't get VIP Pisa. She must have been having a bad day. I've given up on the VIP Pisa idea. I decided I want to see Florence and PISA. So that's what we are doing. Have you looked into a private tour?

That would be cool. I'm looking for day pack but I'm fining most of them too small for my SLR digital camera and a len. So curious to see if they have something bigger out there.

Have you tried Best Buy.com or one of their stores? I found a basic mid size black backpack for about $75 a couple of years ago there and they have always had a decent stock. It easily holds my Nikon D70 or Nikon D80, a longer lense, large flash and small kodak digital. The compartments can be resized with the velcro pads (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick). It also has a smaller outside zippered pocket that holds my cleaner clothes and brush. I can also fit a wallet in there (won't be doing that in Europe though!), a pack of hand wipes, miscellaneous stuff and 2 autograph books. It is not that heavy with everything loaded. The back pack is about 1/2 the size of my 9 year old's Nike back pack for school.
