"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

:dance3: Post 300 :dance3:

Do I get a name change??? or is that post 500 ???

Just thought I would celebrate it here ... Hope everyone is doing great!

Hi Sherri-

Unfortunately, our collective schedules are not going allow us to add days on either end. We are arriving the morning of the sailing and heading back to the beautiful garden state the same day we arrive back. When I look at the cost of excursions, the sooner I get back to the office seeing patients, the better :)

Joe

DrJoe - I am sure we will meet up sometime during the cruise.

I know - the cost of the excursions are quite pricey - but we are looking at this as our "Trip of a Lifetime." I will research to see if it will be less costly to do any excursions on our own. (I'll keep you posted if I come up with any info.)
We are leaving on a Continental Flt back to Newark on the 18th after the cruise - I wonder if we will be on the same flight?

Take care,
Sherri

Hi Deb - did you book your air on your own? I am concerned that the flight departs fairly early - and hope we are able to get off the ship in time!
Are you staying in Barcelona pre-cruise?

Have a great day!

Hi Sherri -
We originally booked our air through DCL. However, I was starting to have nightmares about arriving the day of embarkation, how many cities we could be routed through, how long those layovers could be, etc, etc, etc. So, about a week ago, I finally decided to go ahead and do our own air. We're arriving at 9:15 a.m. one day early and have two rooms reserved at the Renaissance Barcelona Airport Hotel for around US$112.00 each. I waited too long to get the really good airfares, but still came in under what DCL was charging. Even with hotel, food, and taxi fares, I think we will still save enough to pay for an excursion. :)

The worrywart in me is trying not to be too concerned about getting to the airport on time after the cruise. I've talked to DCL twice, and both cm's told me they were recommending no flights before 10:30 a.m. Even though it could be rush hour, it's only a 9 mile trip to the airport from the port. When we get to Barcelona, I'm going to ask about reserving a taxi or limo service.

Did you do your own air?

Hi everyone ... Things have been pretty quiet, so I thought I would bump us closer to the top ... How is the new Year going for every one. Up here in the Great White North, it has been pretty green so far. Snowed some today, but we'll see how long it lasts.

How are all the plans coming along? Are we having fun narrowing down the excursions?

Take care all! Less than 6 months to go!!!! :dance3:

Hello Everyone!

I'm back after a long absence from the Boards. (I am working WAY too much- trying to pay for this trip! ;) )

Anyway, it's getting closer and it's time to get serious!!! We have to get planning on the excursions now. Which seem to be the most popular amongst "DISers"?

It looks like DS11 ( who will only be a few weeks away from 12 while we are on the trip) will be alone in the lab again as he is the only one in our sailing party his age. Are there a few other boys that age that love video games and sports that will be in the lab? Also, what about 6 year old boys in the club? - my friend was wondering. (She is going to be creating a profile and joining us on this thread soon. :thumbsup2 )

It's SOOOOO exciting!!! We can't wait!!!!:cool2:

Hi Everyone...

I've been looking over all the tours. I think I've narrowed it down. I'm still having trouble deciding which tour to take in Rome. Anyways, I posted my questions on the Med. Excursion thread. Anyways, no matter what we pick to do I'm sure we'll have a great time. Definitely will be the year of million dreams. Now, I need to work on working out so I can eat all that yummy food. So has any decided on what days you are going to do Palo (if you are planning on it)?

Tina...

Hi everyone. It is getting closer!
We're narrowing down our shore excursion choices. Our plans have changed a bit... We're now flying in the day before and staying at a hotel near the port. I think it's the Renaissance.

Let's start talking cruise meets... (see if we can keep our thread on page 1)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to get in touch with my TA and see if she can pull off the Palo group room again. If she can here's who I have listed for the Dis-Brunch in Palo...
Monstro
Ugarxdawg
OurDogCisco
APinCA
MaxsGM
MJGirl

I Have Been2marceline and Tom B on deck (no pun intended) in case of cancellations.

* Remember - there is a $10.00 per person charge for Palo.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Big *** Veranda" Party on been2marceline Veranda...
I have 15 people interested in this so far. Are we still good for this been2Marceline? No presure...:)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-cruise meet??? Anyone else spending the night anywhere in Barcelona?

I'd also like to get more pictures on my Fotki Journal if anyone is interested..... It's fun to put names to faces pre-cruise.

The cat has been out of the bag for my kids (S 10,D 10,D 5) but they have one burning question on their minds. Will we get to see the "Harry Potter" Premier on the cruise. On our last cruise they Premiered "Chicken Little" and they loved it because we got to see it way before the rest of the mainland and their friends in Colorado. One of the Old Timers (aka experienced Disney Cruisers) got the movie list before the cruise. Does anyone have the heads up on this, or is it simply to early?

Welcome aboard!! It's going to be fun!

It is my understanding that one can only get confirmed excursions when your cruise payment is made in full. However that said, this is what it says on the Disney Cruise line site: Please return 75 days prior to embarkation. If you are a Castaway Club member, you may return 90 days prior to embarkation. If you are a Concierge Guest, you may return 105 days prior to embarkation.

birkner - I just saw this post.....are you on our cruise?

Hi Monstro ... We will be in Barcelona at the Hilton del Mar .. I believe our flight gets in at 4 ... I have read somewhere that the Sagrada Familia is open later in the Summer, so we will probably go see that. If we get a group of 20 or more, the price goes down to 5 Euros each, otherwise it is 8 Euros each. Maybe we could all go as a group as a DIS meet. The other option for us is that there is a shopping mall next door to our Hotel. I think that after a week, my DD might need a mall fix. I'm also considering getting some laundry done that day as we will have been travelling for a week by then. I may end up doing that in Paris before our flight!

Those are my Barcelona plans, however, I'm all for a pre-cruise meet! That would sound great! Anyone else staying at the Hilton??

PS: I'm still in for the Palo's brunch... Do you need anything from me to reserve it??

Hey Monstro - we're staying at the Renaissance the night before, too! That will make it easy to meet! :thumbsup2 Our flight lands at 9:15 a.m. and then we're taking the free hotel shuttle. When do you get in?

I didn't see your post earlier but our kids are almost the same ages. We'll be traveling with D6 and D9.5... Maybe their paths will past in the clubs or on tours. Also, welcome aboard. HOpefully, somebody knows about the movie thing. I have no clue.

Do you know which day your TA would reserve the brunch if she can?

I think we're gonna stay at the Renaissance. I'll have to double check with dh. I really wanted to stay at the Ritz Carlton. The beach looked beautiful... Oh our flight does not arrive until around 4 pm or so....

I'm not sure yet. We're looking at two different flights from JFK. One arrives at 12:00 noonish the other arrives around 2:20ish. I'll probably make reservations the next week... I'm stalling to see if my oldest daughter gets excepted to an intership for the summer in Egypt.

I wish I could control the day. I'm pretty sure they only do brunch on sea days. We'll just hope for the best.... :)

That would be cool if three of us were at the Renaissance. We could have our own little pre-cruise meet :) .

A sea day would be perfect for me actually. I totally forgot that they didn't do brunch on non-sea days. I think we are gonna do Palo dinner on a port day. We'll see...

Yes, I just confirmed with dh that we are staying at the Renaissance. And, our flight arrives at 2:45 pm. So hopefully we can do a meet if you all aren't out sight seeing.

I was just thinking... Do we need to get any sort of vaccinations for our trip? My friend just went to Hong Kong and they had to be vaccinated. Does anyone know?
