"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

Hi. My family is booked on the June 6th 10 day Med cruise. A few of us live near WDW and are planning a pre cruise Get-Together and BBQ in the Orlando area. Possibly at Fort Wilderness or my small farm and maybe combined with a group day a WDW.

I thought we might open the doors and invite Med Cruisers for all the other Med dates except those Repositioning Cruiser types .... OK, I guess you guys can come too, but only if you promise to do the cooking.

I'm thinking April but no date has been set so suggestions are welcome.

PS: I was only teasing the Repositioning Cruisers.. They still have to cook though. wink wink

I was just thinking... Do we need to get any sort of vaccinations for our trip? My friend just went to Hong Kong and they had to be vaccinated. Does anyone know?

I've got my wife digging into this. :scared1:

We're also renewing the kids passports before we go.

Hi all ... I spoke to our regional Health office up north here, and she said that the countries we are visiting are all low risk areas, so no vaccinations are required, however, we can get one if we want (Hep A/B that is). The woman also recommended that we be up to date on our Tetanus shot. I don't know if the rules are different in the states, but this is the stand from the Canadian government.

I didn't see your post earlier but our kids are almost the same ages. We'll be traveling with D6 and D9.5... Maybe their paths will past in the clubs or on tours. Also, welcome aboard. HOpefully, somebody knows about the movie thing. I have no clue.
If you would like, have your daughter e-mail my daughter to get aquainted prior to the cruise. We will be going to Paris before the cruise to do Disneyland and the tourist thing. Maybe we can get a kid list started before the cruise so other kids can join in as well. I would start a kid thread for our cruise but I am clueless when it comes to that. I thought I read about others going to Disneyland before hand and we could all meet for lunch in the park or something???

Hey Twinparents ...

Looks like you may be able to see the movie before you leave and your kids won't have to wait!
Thank you so much for your research. My kids are so excited and skeptical. The sign at our theater still says July 13TH, so they don't want to get their hopes up and are taking the believe it when they hear it approach...haha

If you are going to be in Paris before the cruise, keep your eyes open for Eva Longoria and the Desperate Housewives crowd. Supposedly Eva is getting married in Paris on July 7.

Are you flying to Barcelona on the 6th, or are you taking the train. We will be in Paris as well and are flying to Barcelona on Air France!

Hi everyone. It is getting closer!
We're narrowing down our shore excursion choices. Our plans have changed a bit... We're now flying in the day before and staying at a hotel near the port. I think it's the Renaissance.

Let's start talking cruise meets... (see if we can keep our thread on page 1)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to get in touch with my TA and see if she can pull off the Palo group room again. If she can here's who I have listed for the Dis-Brunch in Palo...
Monstro
Ugarxdawg
OurDogCisco
APinCA
MaxsGM
MJGirl

I Have Been2marceline and Tom B on deck (no pun intended) in case of cancellations.

* Remember - there is a $10.00 per person charge for Palo.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Big *** Veranda" Party on been2marceline Veranda...
I have 15 people interested in this so far. Are we still good for this been2Marceline? No presure...:)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-cruise meet??? Anyone else spending the night anywhere in Barcelona?

I'd also like to get more pictures on my Fotki Journal if anyone is interested..... It's fun to put names to faces pre-cruise.

My journal is here: http://journals.fotki.com/Draperdog/Seven_Seven_O7_Vacation/

Hey Monstro!
We are planning on getting to Barcelona on 7-3. We would love to get together when your group arrives. Keep us informed with your plans

Keith

We went to apply for our passports today. DS2 did not want to look at the camera. Took longer to get his picture then the other 5 put together. But now that we have done this I fell the trip is really getting close!!!!!

I'm with ya dawg.... it's getting close. I've got to get our ressies transferred .

Jeff

Yea!! Made our reservations for Renaissance Barcelona Airport with Marriott points. We arrive July 5:cool1:

We still need to plan excursions and Paris. Is it really only 5 months away????

Awesome! There are several of us staying there before the cruise! It will make a pre-cruise meet very convenient! :)

So ... Did anyone get caught up in the rush yesterday??? Anyone book a 2008 cruise?

I wanted to do Mexico last time, but I spaced out on trying to book it.

After we got the Med cruise, I sent IC an fax for any Cat 1/2 on any specials / 10day or longer - intended to get an upgrade from the Handicap 3 on the 7/7/07.

I emailed IC after I saw all of the B(aloney) S(andwiches) going on about waitlists, thinkin that becuase I specified 2007,2008 or 2009 that I might be able to score one for one of the 7 day Mexico cruises.

They emailed back saying "Please rest assured that we have your waitlist request for the 15 Day Panama". Huh?

I figured good luck on that, so I booked a 7 day - 6/22/2008 Cat 4 just so I could go somewhere.

Got home yesterday - IC called and left me my reservation number for a Cat 2. on the Westbound repo.

So now I've got ressies for a 2 ( 15 day) , a 3 (11 day ) and a four ( 7 day ) all within the next 18 months.

Somethings got to go......

Yikes!!!

Dylan and I did the West Coast Cruise the last time and were not impressed with the ports except Cabo. As I will still be paying for this one, we will pass. One of these days I do want to go through the Panama Canal but the repos occur during school!

We have been looking at the various ports and shore excursions. We definitely want one of the DCL excursions for Rome. However, if we take an excursion in every port, that could run several thousand $$$$. What does everyone else plan to do? (1 or 2, half, or almost every port)?

I priced out an excursion in every port for the two of us. As this is our first trip to Europe, and there is just my daughter and I, I'm kind of nervous about going alone. I budgeted 3000 for excursions and made a list of my first to fourth choice. If I get all my first choices, the cost will be just over 2000, and if I get the most expensive of all my choices, the cost will just exceed 2500. So I see it as an extra 500 for souvenirs!!

Does any experienced cruiser know if we can book two excursions for one day? If we are in port for 10 hours, can we book two 4 hour excursions?

I don't know if we will do this or not, but am just curious if it is possible. I know we are booking a short excursion in Marseilles, as we want to take the ferry over to Chateau d'if in the afternoon!

We have four in our sailing party. DD7 & DD9 and myself and my wife. The Rome excursion that we want will be $1000 by itself. We want to take an excursion in Pisa too. I am up in the air about some of the others. For example, it looks like everything is close enough at Palermo to explore the city on our own. :woohoo:

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not going all the way to Europe to not see the sights. I think (but I'm not postive) since we are a cruise you are better off with doing a tour whether you pick Disney or another operator because of the time constraints. So we are gonna go all out and see everything we want to see. This is kinda of a once in a lifetime trip. Who knows if I'll ever be back again with my kids.

I don't know but a good question... I've only booked one tour through Disney & it was a sunset cruise so it only had one time. So I wonder when we actually book our tours we get to pick from the times. I wonder. Normally, I book all our excursions with an outside vendor. This time I'll probably do a lot through Disney.
