"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

Here is info from my new friend Brian in BCN, about Meson David. I also asked him for info on a Tapas restaurant that I thought I would pass along:

"Meson David is more local and kind of a dive but we always go there with groups. If you like meat order the Lechazo, young pig. It falls off the bone. Normally we all order this and I hardly eat meat basically only at this place. Also, order the Creme Catalana for desert. The neighborhood is quickly developing but still a big pick pocket area. Please do not put the thought in your head that it is dangerous but just always keep an eye on your things. It will be Friday night and there are a lot of people in town. It will be a zoo of locals and tourist, but you guys are New Yorkers and it should be no problem. Think the village pre-Guiliani but without weapons!! :-) Actually watch your things everywhere on the streets. It is a safe city but pick pockets are bad and they are very efficient.

I just called Meson David again but they did not answer. I think if you all showed up at 8:00 and ask for a table you should be okay. They may make you wait a while to arrange everything. Just keep in mind this is not the states and sit back and enjoy the show. They will not be organized but it is a lot of fun and inexpensive good Lechazo.

I took my parents here when they visited and I had my girlfriends B-day here. I do not want to build it up to much. It is fun if you are with a good fun group.

The best Tapas restuarant is Cal Pep in the Borne neighborhood in the city center. Amazing seafood tapas and more. Just let them bring things out for you. A little more expensive but worth it. "
( We are planning on going here tomorrow afternoon! - can't believe we will finally be there!!:yay: :yay: )

Anyway - all sounds VERY INTERESTING - I don't think this is a very FANCY place - but the food sounds good and I am sure it will be FUN - hey, he took his parents there and had his girlfriend's b'day there too - so I am sure we will have a GREAT TIME! Hope you all agree! See you in BCN!
Sherri

P.S. - Regarding transportation - he suggested we may have to take 2 cabs and to print out the address and a map for the cab drivers - so we are all set - I am not going to stress about that - It will all work out I am sure.

Welcome Tim and Deb C. (Yea! Another "Deb"! :goodvibes ), okwmike, and Tiny Bubbles! Looking forward to meeting all of you onboard in just a few days! :cool1:

Here's pixiedust: to everyone for safe and travel from home to the port!

Hi all; We are in BCN!!! Arrived 1/2 hour early. While waiting I managed to get tickets for the tour bus and others.

Joe

Anyone else still not in Barcelona?

We started and finished our packing last night. We hoped to fit it all in 6 bags and wound up with 8. All are far under 50 pounds and we've got plenty of room for any souvenirs we pick up.

Only one more work day for me and DH! We don't fly out tomorrow until 6:55 but I have a feeling we'll be at the airport around 3 to check in with British Airways.

See you all soon,
Danielle

We are not in Barcelona either!! We leave tomorrow at 2:30!! My last day was Tuesday and spent yesterday mowing the lawn and packing. We are also taking 3 suitcases and 1 garmet bag. I ended up rolling our clothes so that I have room left for souveniers! Only one bag is over 40 pounds but the rest are around 30!!! Whew!!:woohoo: I was really worried about that!

Can't wait!!! Is it tomorrow yet?????:yay: :yay: :yay:

Sheryl

We leave in a few hours to drive to the airport that is 2 hours away. We leave today at 4 pm. For the 4 of us we are taking 4 suitcases and 1 garment bag. I gotta finish packing the bathroom stuff and then, we gotta drop the dog off.

See ya all at the Sailaway PARTY :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well, I just finished my last major assignments at work! Feels good. Now I'm holding my breathe that nothing else major comes up before tomorrow.

We rolled up the boys clothes by outfit with socks/underwear and stuck them in gallon size zip locks. We love the convenience of knowing each outfit matches and they can just choose whatever they want to wear each day. When you squeeze out the air, they shrink to almost nothing. We could have probably crammed our stuff into 3 duffle bags instead of 4 and 1 formal bag instead of 2 but we figured we'd go with half full bags that are lighter and room for souvenirs. We also have a bag with our snorkels/masks for when we are in Sardinia at our beach excursion, our ds6's life vest and shoes. We each ended up bringing about 6 pair.

DH is getting ready to take the boys for hair cuts (ds10 is protesting and may win this one) and a couple minor things to pick up from Walmart and we are ready to go. If only 6:55 tomorrow night would come sooner! Our poor beagle knows something's going on and is moping around. She loves her kennel (Pet Paradise) though so she'll be happy once she's there. They even have a hot tub and pool along with a radio and tv for the dogs.

We printed out our cruise contracts and measured our carry ons. All we have to pack are our chargers for the video camera and camera.

Hello from Paris... It's our last night here, and tomorrow, I head to Barcelona. I want to wish you all safe travels. Take care, we'll be sailing soon!!!

MJ and Kirstyn!

Hi MJ,

You've done a great job on your blog! Your pictures are really incredible.

I'm off to go cut the grass. It probably only needs weed wacked since it's so dry only the edges near our fence are green and growing. Good thing it rained a bit before the fireworks because I think our neighborhood would have gone up in flames.

See you in 2 days!

We're busy with last minute stuff. Way too many bags - one just dedicated to shoes. We will leave our house at 7:00 tonight for our 9:50 flight to London (from O'Hare). We hope to spend the day sightseeing around London tomorrow, and will arrive at our hotel in Barcelona tomorrow night, hopefully by 11:00. After a restless night, we will see you on the ship.
Back to scrambling!

Well, we just had our last sleep at our house for 12 days. Next one will be on British Airways and then the following 11 will be on the Magic! We are keeping our fingers crossed that our flight leaves on time.

I saw a post last night from a friend of Deb T's that her flight got cancelled and they had to head to another airport last minute. Makes me VERY nervous cutting it so close to leaving Barcelona on the ship. We have no choice since DH was unable to take vacation from his police unit until today.

We take our dog to the kennel in a couple of hours and then head to the airport with a bank stop along the way. I guess we'll be there extra, extra early.

We downloaded our boarding passes last night and caught yet another round of the Travel Channel's special on the Disney Cruise.

See you all tomorrow!!!!

:cool1: We too have completed our last sleep for 15 days!! We leave for the airport in another hour -- Dylan just got his hair cut!! We are packed and ready!! See you all in Barcelona!!!!!!

If anyone is reading this who went to dinner at Meson David, I'm sorry we missed you. Our flight was supposed to leave Paris at 2:20, but didn 't leave until 4:15. We arrived in Barcelona at 6:00 but his traffic. It was 8:30 by the time we got checked into our hotel. I figure we wouldn't have got to the restaurant until after 9, so we decided to go shopping across the street instead. Take care everyone and see you tomorrow!
