That is alot of $$ and we could end up in a 12 or better. I will call our TA tomorrow and see what our options are. It seems they are trying to fill the med cruises. Our cat 9 is going for $4000 more than we booked it for in April '06.

After seeing the same thread about the discounts, we checked with DUT to see if the prices of our category 6 or 11 staerooms we have booked were lower. A 12 is going for $3300 but an 11 is still $7100. We'll keep our eyes on the prices and see if we can get anything lower before sailing. My MIL was not interested in changing rooms since we got exactly what we wanted/where we wanted and she'd have to go with a GTY if she went to a 12.

Funny ... I spoke to DCL when my TA told me mine was cancelled. It was still on my reservation, so I called DCL and they confirmed (twice, by two different reps) that the Gothic Quarter, Chocolate Museum and Aquarium tour were all cancelled. My tour did disappear from my reservation later that day.

Not sure what we are going to do. We booked 2 Cat 10 GTY back in Oct. We'd pay $1680 more if we booked the same today. I'm happy knowing that, but when I ran a dummy reservation for 2 Cat 12 GTY, the price was around $6500. That would be a fantastic savings for us (Way more that half price). I'm thinking of calling DCL to see if they have assigned our staterooms yet, if not, we may consider changing.

Here is something I found that was interesting. If you are doing two staterooms, play around with the ages in the parties. For example: it turned out to be cheaper when I had 1A, 11yo, 7yo in one stateroom and 1A and 14yo in the other; than 1A, 14yo, 7yo in one and 1A and 7yo. Does that make sense the way I said it?

After 4 calls to my TA, and them making 3 calls to DCL - we were finally switched to GTY Cat 12.

2 different TA's were told by DCL that moving from our Cat 9 to Cat 12 GTY would save us "only" $1200. After repeatedly checking the DCL site and seeing that we would actually save $5069.00!!! I kept calling our TA, who finally was able to convince the CM to look into this further. She was told they would switch, but the request would have to be approved by inventory control first, and DCL would call her in a few days to confirm. That was at 7pm tonight. I just checked and we are now a Cat 12 GTY! Love DCL, hate the conflicting info you get from CMs!!

I am gambling that we will be bumped up to a 10 or better to get the split bath. With the 4 of us in the room DH, DS18 & DS12 + me, it will be really help when we all have to get ready and out the door for dinner/show/excursions. (Still will keep my fingers crossed for a Cat 9 though!!)

The cruise is now costing us less than what we just saved. I was told they will credit my cc. I will wait to tell our boys of the change until we know our final room Cat. They were not to thrilled about possibly loosing the big window. I read that we should get at least a Cat 11, since Cat 12 doesn't sleep 4 people (don't know if that is really true.) Also, there are only 13 Cat 12 rooms on the entire ship, I hope the chances are pretty good. I think this "sale" is to get people to book, since this close to sailing the airfares are pretty high.

Maybe DCL does not have casinos on their ships, but I sure feel like I just rolled the dice! I hope I "won" at Cat 9 along with my $5Grand - Please don't color me "greedy!"

Can't wait for the first day at sea - all this planning and re-planning is making me crazy

I'm crossing my fingers for you Sher ... I hope it works out for you. I thought about it, but there are just two of us, so knowing my luck I would end up with the 12. I actually lucked out and got one of the famous SPH and don't think I want to give it up. I was originally trying for the Aug 8 cruise so that I could be on the ship for my daughters birthday, but settled for the SPH instead. Can't wait as well. Let us know how it works out for you!

We rolled the dice too! Saved $4000 with the Cat 12 GTY (we had an 11 originally, so not a big deal - except the $$$). We are a party of 3, so we will fit in a 12 We're crossing our fingers...

T-shirts -
The large design on the back of the t-shirts of the CafePress (Haynes Authentic) is about 8.5", but the Printfection (Gildan) design is about 12". The front design is also smaller (3.5" vs.4.5"). Both XL shirts measure 24" across (shoulder seam to shoulder seam). Hope this helps.

thinking of changing rooms from left side of ship to right...any thoughts?We are in room 7014 I think... We have always been on the right side and my DH thinks that we will miss some nice views when in dock or traveling up the coast of Italy. What do you all think?

After some family discussion, we decided to try to downgrade to Cat 12s. We originally booked two Cat 10 GTYs and have not yet been asigned staterooms. I called DCL and confirmed that rooms where not yet assigned and asked them what I needed to do to change categories. I was informed to contact my travel agent.

I called DU and asked for my travel agent. Was told she was not available and the person on the phone asked if she could help. I told her I would like to downgrade my stateroom category, upon which she informed me I had to email the person I was working with. I am a littled worried about this method of communications, especially about something this important. I wished whoever it was on the phone would have offered to help.

That said the reason I down graded to cat 10 is because SPH 5520 opened up and I had to snag it. Saved only 600.00 but we got up to the 5th deck. I'm still happy because this is what I wanted in the first place.
Maybe just maybe we'll get upgraded before the cruise because we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. That's pretty good for this day an age.

Hey John ... Just wanted to tell you my t-shirts (from Printfection) arrived today. I got the Serene Green and my daughter got Pistachio. They look great! Thank you for sharing your design with all of us! I can't believe I leave for London in 6 weeks. I'm exchanging some of my money tomorrow. The exchange is so good, I thought I would get some now in case the price rises .

Speaking of shirts, is there a certain night, or day that people are wearing theirs, I have been off of the boards, for a month...and have missed a bunch. But the family did get their shirts...they look great.

I believe at the sail away party we'll be wearing them at least that is where I plan on wearing mine. Not sure if I'll wear it on my Barcelona excursion or not. I'll probably put it in my carry on and change after the excursion.

I think we are planning a DIS meet on Deck 10 near the Goofy Pool during the sailaway party. ... Is that what we agreed on? Can anyone else confirm, deny ??? Thanks.
