I believe at the sail away party we'll be wearing them at least that is where I plan on wearing mine. Not sure if I'll wear it on my Barcelona excursion or not. I'll probably put it in my carry on and change after the excursion.

I think we are planning a DIS meet on Deck 10 near the Goofy Pool during the sailaway party. ... Is that what we agreed on? Can anyone else confirm, deny ??? Thanks.

So I'd be the only person at it since I have early seating and everyone else has late. LOL... After some family discussion, we decided to try to downgrade to Cat 12s. We originally booked two Cat 10 GTYs and have not yet been asigned staterooms. I called DCL and confirmed that rooms where not yet assigned and asked them what I needed to do to change categories. I was informed to contact my travel agent.

I called DU and asked for my travel agent. Was told she was not available and the person on the phone asked if she could help. I told her I would like to downgrade my stateroom category, upon which she informed me I had to email the person I was working with. I am a littled worried about this method of communications, especially about something this important. I wished whoever it was on the phone would have offered to help.

Received a reply email from DU's Kelsie around 7:30ish this morning. She said that she will contact DCL to check into downgrading. Received another email later in the afternoon (4ish) saying she contacted DCL and put in our request. She said that there was a backlog of these requests and were being handled by a special department to ensure all excursions get carried over.

Checked my reservations when I got home this evening at 7:30 and (I never thought I'd be happy to ever say this) we've been DOWNGRADED! This turns out to be over $7600 savings for us! Thank you DU's Kelsie!

We decided for that much of a savings, we will be very satisfied with a Cat 12. Since we have 2 staterooms for the 5 of us, we are not really giving up much going from Cat 10 to 12. We can live without the split bathrooms, and being on Deck 2 (or 1) is actually an ideal location since Deck 1 is where all dis/embarkation is going to take place throughout the cruise. While everone is waiting for elevators, I'll be having a little while getting ready for dinner. Don't get me wrong, if wants to sprikle a little our way, I'm not going to shoo her away

Oh my - just saw a post on the regular forum that DCL has cut cat 12 room prices - if we switched from our cat 9 to a GTY cat 12 - we would save $3000.00 -- What to do?????? That is alot of $$ and we could end up in a 12 or better. I will call our TA tomorrow and see what our options are. It seems they are trying to fill the med cruises. Our cat 9 is going for $4000 more than we booked it for in April '06.

Sherri, I just want to give you a huge for bringing this our attention! I to you.

All I gotta say is

Hi John - you are MOST welcome!! - We ended up saving $5000.00!!! As I said on the other thread - there is no window in the world worth $5000.00!

Also - there are ONLY 13 Cat 12 Cabins on the ship. When you try to book a new cruise on DCL's website - there are MANY cabins available in Cats 11, 10, 9, 8, 6 & 4. I think chances are pretty good we will end up with something other than 12 - but really - I am not taking this cruise to sit in my cabin - and don't plan to spend many waking hours there!

I was concerned about no split bath, with 2 teenage sons in the room ( yes, I think boys sometimes take longer than girls! - at least in my house!) but another poster ( go DIS !!) said the showers in the Gym can be used and are very nice - so I am sure we will work it out.

Let's post with what cabins we finally end up with - sending lots of your way!

Anyone ever done the early morning exercise program? I was wondering how cold it might be for this. Something I am totally into but I don't want to be freezing, want to dress appropriately. I'm thinking that this is walking on the track. Is it cold? Is it even outside? 1st time cruiser and am a little freaked out about all the eating I have been reading about on the live threads, I want to make sure I am getting my excercise too. Anyone familiar with the morning workout please let me know.

Biggest concern is airfare. Just got a return call from DCL, and air is $1700/person!! That is way more than the cruise for us.
Any ideas on how to get a better fare?
Where are you staying the night before?
Are the excursions filled up? Most interested in the sights of Rome (Coliseum, Fountain, Vatican), and the Florence/Pisa trip.

Welcome Skibum! Not sure about the airfare as we book through Disney too. Although our airfare was a little cheaper and included not only from BWI to Spain but our add-on to Paris and was only $1500 a piece -- of course that was over a year ago before things went up! There might be some excursions left, but you can always try on the ship as that is when the receive a lot of cancelations. Glad you could join us!

Welcome aboard skibum ... Glad you are going to join us. Have you checked out www.kayak.com for airfares. I think you can do better than $1700. My air is $1300 Cdn each, I'm flying into London and out of Paris. I'm staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar in Barcelona the night before. Some people are staying at the Renaissance Airport and the Atena Mar. Regarding excursions, here is a list of the ones that are not available:

I called DVC to give them our passport #'s as DCL would not take the info from me. I also asked to changed rooms from the left side (port) to the right side (starboard). I was on hold and she advised that entire ship is sold out and we couldn't change rooms. YEAH right. I was looking online at the same time and there are cat 8 rooms on deck 7 & 6. I said but there are rooms available for sale on the web site and she said no it is all sold out. Maybe you can change if there are cancels.....
So I will call again and hope to get someone else....
Glad some where able to save $$. Does that mean you are treating for dinners on shore?
Does anyone know if Disney ships stuff home from their gift shop? Saw some nice pics of items in the gift shop on another link...

Also just exchanged my money and got great rates. Don't forget I'm working from Canadian dollars not American ... Here is the exchange I got

Per DVC all cat 8 rooms sold out. She said GTY reservations will be assigned rooms about 2-3 weeks before cruise. Then maybe there may be rooms. We will just stay put then.
Still have to get Euros. Did call my bank yesterday and they will waive all ATM fees because I am a good customer! Pays to owe them money on my mortgage!!! Also ordered new cc from capital one. No transaction fees for charging in Europe!!! My Citi CC was 3%. Plus I will still get airline miles with Capital One and no yearly fee either.
