Wendy - Have a few drinks and let the storm pass!

Hello!
It's my first post on this thread. As a surprise birthday gift m husband booked us a four days trip to AKL from June 9th to the 13th. :cool1: I'm so exited because I love animals and we have been yearning to stay there.

Since I won't have the time to go through all the pages of this thread before we leave, could you please tell me any tips or info about the special perks two adults might enjoy in 4 days?

I also want to verify which of the safaris is open to anybody staying at AKL?

Also, do you feel this safari would be worth it for somebody that has already seen the Masai Mara?

Thanks a lot! :goodvibes

...first of all, JAMBO! and :welcome: .....If I were you, I'd grab a nice bottle of African wine, 2 glasses, and meet my honey down by the secluded jacuzzi....

Congratulations on your trip! Will your birthday be when you're at Disney? What a wonderful DH :)

The Wanyama Safari is available to all AKL guests, and the Sunrise Safari is only available to CL. I've done both, and loved them. But for someone who has actually been to Africa I'm not sure if they would be a let down. I don't think so since it's a totally different experience. The Wanyama Safari includes a family style dinner at Jiko after your safari, and a privately guided tour of all the savannahs of the resort by two animal handlers.

Good Afternoon J's & K's :thumbsup2 I am starting to feel human again :rotfl: I have been sleeping 10 hours straight a night since I have been home. I don't remember doing that since forever.

I hope that your grandkids feel better soon. By the way it is not correct that this only affects kids under the age of 5. I know a number of adults who had it, too. As with most kid's illnesses, the older you are the more serious it tends to be.Corinna

I have read that adults can get it also. Thankfully only the children were ill. Thank you Corinna for your kind wishes.

Ann,

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandkids. I'll keep them in my prayers. If you need someone to talk to, you know how to reach me.Kathy:hug:

Kathy, Hi...long time since we have visited. Thank you for the prayers and concern.

Prayers that your DGkids recover quickly!

Thank you so much Linda.

Ann, so sorry about your grandkids.

Laura, thanks for the pictures!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Hey Alison, how you doing? Thanks for caring.

Ann, I'm so sorry to hear your grandkids are going through that. Sending prayers and good thoughts their way that they recover quickly. :grouphug:

I was just thinking about you earlier today, wondering why you haven't been on lately. Hugs to you, my friend.

Aww Thanks Laura, it is nice to be missed. :goodvibes The prayers and wishes are very much appreciated.

Ann I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope they're better soon. Did the doctors say how long it will take to clear up? I hope you weren't in danger being near them.

The virus lasts about 7-10 days. Our 3 year old picked it up at co-op, an another little girl came down sick the day after their class together. Our DGD got sick 6 days later. About 5 days after that our grandson started running 105 degree temps. That was when I was called to fly out to help. He was really ill for about 3 days then started with the spots and sore throat. As he was just dealing with the itch and red spots our oldest GD started with a low grade temp followed by very red throad with sores all the way down her throat. Then her spots were all over her body and she just didn't feel good. As of today they are all doing better, still having to stay home until the last of the spots finish. I am fine and so are my DD and DSIL. Thank you Pam for your wishes and good thoughts.

Ann - I hope your grandkids get to feeling better soon. This must be the season for this nasty virus. A few of my students have it too.

I have been so amazed by this virus. It sure is a nasty one and seems to present and run it course differently for each person. Thank you Elin.

Ann, I hope your grandkids are well soon, there's nothing worse than sick kids. pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thank you and I totally agree, especially when more then one sick kid. :scared:

Ann hugs my friend, I hope that every recovers quickly and pixie dust being sent to the family!

Thank you Brandi. I am so happy to read all the good news for you and David. So today is David's first day of work at his new job. :thumbsup2 Wishing him a super great week.

Ann

Ann, you are right David's first day at the new job was today and he said everything went well, it took him 20 minutes to drive there in traffic and 16 minutes to get home. He said it was a breath of air to have such a short commute!

They told him he might be able to work from home a couple days a week, so he is super excited on that...

Thanks again for asking about him.

Hooray for such a great start! :cool1:

I have a question about ground floor pool view rooms. Can you walk out to the pool from your patio or do you have to walk down the hall and out ? Thanks for any information.:)

Ann, that is wonderful news that they're starting to feel better  that sounds like a very nasty virus! I had heard of it, but never knew what it entailed. I hope this doesn't mess them up with school at all.

I think they walk right out but I'm not 100%

I looked at all my photos and this is the only one that almost shows what you're looking for. It appears that they do walk out to the pool.
