Seven Dwarves So Close...

Seriously you guys? The video itself is a minute and a half long, and they've cut out all the lifts, and the very beginning and end of the ride itself. It's a 2 minute ride at least.

You are correct. And they have cut out portions of the dark ride and are hiding some of the new animatronics using a new technology. I think there were other surprises they wanted to keep secret.

We do not yet know how long the ride will be, but that certainly doesn't stop people from being negative.

(Boy does it get old. I wonder how many people have given up on this forum because of the constant negativity about everything.)

Anyway, I think it is going to be a great ride - certainly no Rockin' Rollercoaster, but fun for the whole family with some interesting aspects.

We now return to the regularly scheduled negativity...

In my defense, that video really makes it look only 60 seconds long! :rotfl: And I don't know anything about lifts, the dark part and whatever else. I have purposely been avoiding threads about it so I didn't get my hopes up. :)

I didn't have a problem with what you said. :)

This subject did get me thinking: Do people use a stop watch to determine whether or not they like a ride? While, I don't want it to be TOO short, I'm much more interested in it being an interesting, fun ride.

Comparing the length of a ride to the line is pointless to me. There isn't a ride in the world long enough to make that a positive comparison! I don't want to know while I'm standing there. I know there are rides I love that are shorter than other rides that I think are just OK.

"Wow, it's a 60 minute wait, but at least it is 3.5 minutes long and not 3 minutes, that makes the 60 minutes just fine!"
:lmao:

Bull!! Maybe not to YOU. Splash Mountain is almost 11 minutes long. If I am waiting an hour for something that lasts 11 minutes or 90 seconds makes a big difference to me.

Is Splash mountain a favorite of yours? It isn't one of mine and an hour wait is far to long to bother riding. It is 11 minutes of slow so-so. I would much rather a 2 minute exciting ride.

How long is Rockin' Rollercoaster? And that brings up a key difference: Rides like SM have a huge capacity, and can be any length you want without impacting wait times. You cannot do that with rollercoasters. If Disney had an 11 minute coaster the wait would be 12 hours!

Anyway, 2, 3, 4 minutes of fun is fine with me, but then I don't wait in long lines anyway. In the last several years I have waited only very rarely in a line anything close to 60 minutes.

Me either. Hence my signature. :)

This does not compute.

You say it is bull. Then you think there are rides long enough to make a positive comparison. Yet in the next statement you don't wait in lines of any great length implying that there aren't any rides worth the wait. Therefore, I am confused. :) You seem to disagree and then agree.

The first statement is not bull because I said it about myself and it is true for me. There is no ride long enough to make a comparison of ride length to an hour wait worthwhile.

Are there any rides longer than SM's 11 minutes?

If you notice, I apologized for using the "bull" statement. :) If I am going to wait in any sort of line it will be for the likes of Millennium Force or Maverick at Cedar Point. I would not wait in any line for an hour at Disney.

But to answer an earlier question....yes, Splash is one my favorite rides at Disney.

I will agree, however, that there are some rides I just will not wait a long time for. Barnstormer? Forget it. 5 minutes tops. I tend to agree that the length of the ride will sometimes gauge how long I'm willing to wait in line. But since I'm able to go at lower crowd times, that's not usually an issue.

If theoretically Disney built a 11 minute long roll coaster, that would be a very very long track. So it could incorporate many many more ride vehicles than your average coaster. Which would increase rider/per hour capacity. So the wait time would not be any longer than a 1 minute coaster. All things equal (one coaster not being more popular than the other) in theory. I wish an 11 minute roller coaster existed.... :(

My turn to apologize, I missed that. :)

Are there any rides anywhere that are longer than SM 11 minutes? I can't think of any.

I agree...I wish there was an 11 minute coaster!:thumbsup2
