Seven Dwarves So Close...

It's true that the long wait may have raised expectations too high. From what I've seen, the ride looks promising and fun. As long as we bear in mind that this is a Fantasyland ride, which generally means a short but sweet experience -- not grand in scope but long on charm. Definitely not an E Ticket; a D or solid C.

Disney usually does a good job when creating themed coasters. Just expect a solid addition to the park, not the be all and end all.

:lmao:

New technology....you mean like:

Swinging cars...yes, unless you count overhead tracks

Varying speed....uhhhhh...you can read the post and know that isn't new.

Backward motion...not only is that not new...it's already been in Everest since 2006.

Waterfall.....really?

If you can't tell how short the dark ride portion of this ride is by the aerial views then there is no hope. If the entire ride last 90 to 120 seconds total then how much dark ride portion of it do you think really exists?

This isn't a Universal guy talking....it's a coaster junkie who has ridden a lot more than the average Joe, and then some.

You need to read more carefully.

The swinging cars are not the new technology, although they are novel and nothing like a hanging rollercoaster. There are new animatronics that are as yet undisclosed.

I didn't say the varying speed and backward motion were new, either, just that they will contribute to a good ride.

I also did not address the length or amount of dark ride. Try to be a little less arrogant and condescending, especially when wrong.

Yes, waterfall, really. Go rain on somebody else's parade. I've got a Disney umbrella.

:beach:

All the factors mentioned in the article, when taken together, make it sound like a very good ride which many of us are looking forward to. It is a very hard task to make a new fun ride AND make it for families.
This is going to be great!

I am going in April and hoping for a soft opening.. I think. How does a soft open work? I don't think I have ever been there for one in all of our trips.
(Not piling on the FP+ chaos but this does wreak havoc on my plans not knowing if I need to allot an hour to this as I overschedule our day to make smart FP+ plans!)
Thanks!

Yeah....OK. What is the new technology?

And Disney is good at waterfalls. I'm guessing the new one doesn't look like anything close to another one of theirs...

I understand that people are starving for something new at WDW...I get it. I have been for the last 5 years. This will be a good addition. I wouldn't want to put all my eggs in one mine train, though.:)

Count us in as super excited too! I know there are many downers but since we don't like any of the mountains except splash were hoping we like this one.

This is going to be great! New technology, swinging cars, varying speed, backward motion, waterfall! Sounds like it will be a top notch A-1 ride and I'll bet it will cause a healthy up-tick in attendance. I appreciate that it will be fun and exciting while also being for the whole family. A tall order! Except of course for a small group of people (who shall remain nameless) that upon opening will claim it is the worst ride ever created and Universal is better. :stir::lmao:

The new technology is probably nothing but marketing speak for a new software upgrade for animations. There is no backwards section, the varying speeds are magnets, used in tons of coasters.

Waterfall! Now THATS going to be amazing.

This attitude simply shows how the Magic Kingdom is EXTREMELY overdue for ANYTHING new. Jus think, THIS ride is the biggest new thrill ride there since Splash Mountain, what, 20 Years ago? It probably cost more than Splash, has taken more time to build, and is nowhere close to the same level ride.

And even that waterfall is crap. So overhyped, and a complete forced perspective fail.

Remind me again how cars that swing using pivot points internal to the otherwise traditional coaster cars is not new technology? I don't know of any other coaster using such a configuration. And don't bring up hanging coasters which swing because they are completely different.

Well, there is that. :)

I was at toyfair in NYC and overheard someone with Disney badge talking, mention happys animatronics were having issues

People are excited for this ride. So what? Let them be excited. I can't wait to ride it. I know it's not going to be a super duper thrill ride, so I don't have those expectations.

Well, there was one in Australia, the Orphan Rocker, which did similar swinging. However, it never opened to the public.

From what I've seen, the swinging is SEVERELY dampened, not surprisingly since it's a kiddie coaster. If you think this is going to be some mind-blowing coaster revelation, OK, but prepared to be disappointed.

I don't think anyone has that expectation for a fantasyland attraction

well, they have been pretty up front since the beginning that this is no Big Thunder ... they have stated it will be in between Barnstormer and Big Thunder as far as intensity - definitely wasn't created for "coaster junkies"

You are right to point out these things so people don't get disappointed thinking it is a full-fledged major coaster attraction, but I think selling it as a highly themed Barnstormer is selling it short.

I see it as a highly themed ride aimed at if the the whole family, than most of it (which is what Disney is really aimed at to begin with) that combines some new technology (like you said, the swaying cars have only been on suspended coasters before) and adds some action into the middle of NFL.

By itself is it a game change? No, but part of a large expansion to an existing park that at last count had 95 attractions and I for one can't wait to ride it (but won't be scheduling a vacation just for it)

Who's expecting a mind blowing coaster in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom?

People are expecting a well done, family friendly ride that lives up to the type of attractions expected of Disney. From everything that's been shown and what can be seen of the mountain, I think the ride will hit that mark.

If I want to ride mind blowing coasters, I'll go to Busch Gardens or Cedar Point.
