DD will be almost 4 when we visit MK the end of February. She is practically 38 inches, and will certainly be with shoes. Has anyone taken their toddler on SDMT? Also, we do not have FP for this ride, so should we go straight to it, then Peter Pan (no FP for PP either) then to our first FP at Beauty and the Beast? TIA!

Are you going to the park before rope drop? That is when you need to go if you want to ride 7DMT without a long wait. Get there as early as possible so you are at the front of the mob waiting to go under the tunnels into the park. And yes, I think it is a good idea to to Peter Pan second.

Misleading title - a 4 year old is not a toddler in my books, and should be able to handle the ride if the height requirement is met, unless there is a disability.

My four year old loved riding that last May to the point of a complete melt down when the ride was over. The cast member at the exit felt so bad for him that they let us go back on again.

Not at rope drop - you'll need to be at the gates 45 to 60 minutes before rope drop. If you show up right before rope drop, the line will be very long by the time you get there. By the time you're done, the line for Peter Pan will be over an hour long.

Hope I'm allowed to reference this but easywdw just posted a rope drop straight to 7DMT experience from last week with very detailed info. That site has several prior posts on the topic as well.

Probably can't get a BOG pre-opening breakfast at this point but I did that last year pretty much for the purpose of beating the RD crowd and it worked great (no guaranty it will, just happened to work out for us that day).

For a 4-year old, heck yes! My son first rode when he was 4 and it is his favorite ride. We were actually just watching the memory maker video thing they give you this AM (from our most recent trip). It's hilarious to see his facial expression going down those hills.

Just FYI, the first couple of times he ever rode it I did put my arm over around his head / neck a bit just to keep him upright as he tends to just let the g-forces take over.

Get there before rope drop. At least half an hour, more is better. The welcome show starts 15 minutes before park open, and by the, the whole entry plaza is packed. You need to be at the front of the crowd if you want to do both 7DMT and Peter Pan without long waits. If the park opens at 9 be at your resort's bus stop by 745.

My 4 year old did it multiple times last trip. She's not a daredevil though so the first time we tried she changed her mind. They were super nice about it and gave her a FP to come back any time and try again.

DS(4) went on 7DMT with me last month. He is 40" tall, but had never done coasters before. He screamed the entire ride - and not in a "woohoo!" kind of way LOL. The video they take all you can see is me leaning over him trying to calm him down. I felt so bad, but it turns out he's just not a thrill ride kind of kid (at least not yet), since he reacted the same way on Barnstormer and Splash Mtn. Yes, head there before Peter Pan. I'd go straight there at rope-drop or try for a pre-park opening BOG breakfast to try for the shortest wait.

Although I agree that a 4 yr old isn't a toddler, but rather a preschooler, I completely disagree with the second half of your statement. Not liking an amusement ride at age 4 doesn't mean that there is a disability involved. It just means they don't enjoy the ride. We all like different things - even at age 4.

We took our 3 year old on in it in Sept - he was just a few weeks from turning 4. He loved it - wanted to go again. But he enjoys thrill rides. Now his older brother didnt care for it, not at 14 and wouldn't have liked it at 4 either. But that's just who he is. If you think your child would like it, and they meet the height requirements, then I say go for it.

I agree with all those who say you need to be there BEFORE RD. We left our resort room by 7:40/7:45 each morning for a 9am RD and were always near the front (June). The parks seemed to let everyone in starting at 8:45.....

My 4 year old loved it. He also loved Splash Mountain and the Jurassic Park ride at US.
We had FP so we bypassed all the interactive stuff.

My fondest Disney memory is chasing my then 3 year old daughter back to the entrance of Space Mountain moments before midnight with her screaming "one more time Daddy" all the way.

I think a 4 year old will be fine on 7D. We like to wait until later in the day to ride the headliners without FP+. We've had pretty good luck riding 7D twice in about a half hour before park close.
