Has anyone heard when Disney will formally announce the opening of the Mine Train? I know the ribbon cutting ceremony is supposed to be May 2nd...the day we arrive. I was wondering when you will be able to get fast passes.

They have sent media people invites for an event April 30th. Most have said earliest chance for a soft opening is April 20th. I would expect FPs to open a week or two prior to opening. Since you arrive on May 2nd I wouldn't rush and try o ride on opening day because of the opening ceremony and the huge amount of people that will be there.

The one big wildcard with the Mine Train opening is that it appears they have run into some clearance problem with the cars. Recent pictures showed the railings along one of the drops being moved back and there have also been reports of modifications to the rock work. No idea how severe these problems are or if they will delay the opening.

Actually as for the railings it looked as if they were putting more permanent railings in than what was there before.

Us too! We will also be in the park the morning of the 22nd, and the night of the 24th so I'm hoping for a FP+ at some point!

Can't wait to hear the reviews after the opening!

No, these were the same railings, just moved back a couple inches.

Interesting I thought they looked a bit different but I guess that why they do tests.

No but I do keep hearing April 20th or around there for soft openings

There's not gonna be any room for guests with all those jooles in the train.
