Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FP+ Opening

We will be at WDW in one week and I hope the ride is finished as I'm sure we'd enjoy riding it.

But in all honesty, I'm just glad that most if not all the walls will be down and no major building work will be going on.

I also hope that works going on around the hub will not be too intrusive and impact on our experience of what is supposed to be magical fantasy land.

I'm trying to speculate on what impact Mine Train will have on other rides at MK for the first few weeks it is open.

From one point of view it could be said that so many people will be in line for Mine Train that other lines should be a little shorter. Of course the flip side is that Mine Train will be a big draw and the park will get more crowded leading to other lines being longer.

A&E aren't a great comparison as they've been available in another park for months. I go next week and I can't decide if I'd prefer Mine Train to open for a soft opening or not. Without them offering a FP+ I don't see us waiting in line for it.

I'll go to Magic Kingdom in May 17th. Since I'm staying offsite, I'm not annual passholder, I'm not cast member, I don't see any chance to ride it, because probably it will be in soft opening at this day. Am I wright?:confused3

Not necessarily. We were not AP holders nor CMs, and we were able to experience all of the attractions in New Fantasyland when it was in soft opening in October 2012.

It could be open to the general public by then. Who the heck knows? But your odds of riding it might actually be higher in a soft open if you're in the right place at the right time. I know lots of folks who did New Fantasyland stuff in soft open without the crowds being too crazy. We were there the day after it opened and the wait for Ariel's ride was 2 hours. That was just nuts.

Same thing happened with Star Tours 2.0 when it re-opened in May 2012. Out of nowhere they were just letting people board. It was pretty quiet and a lot of people just walked past not knowing what was going on. If you see a CM standing near the entrance it doesn't hurt to ask and don't feel like you're annyoing them either...it's part of their job to provide guests with information.

Soft openings are open to everyone. If it is operating regularly, you might be lucky enough to snag a FP for it (since you are now at 30 days) or RD and get in line first thing. Just keep checking here to see if it opened.

We just got back. Most of the walls were down, so we got a good look at it and things may have going on inside, but it will have to wait for our next trip.

The same thing happened to us with TSMM in May of 2008.

But, this is going to be different because the ride is visible from the park and in a very prominent location. If guests see that people are actually riding, word would spread like wildfire and guests would quickly swarm to the ride.

For safety and crowd control reasons, I wonder if Disney will actually have the same kind of soft opening for the mine train as it has had for some of the attractions that are completely inside. They may just have to open it up at park opening and see what happens. Or, they could have soft openings in the last hour or so before the park closes when the park is not that crowded.

I was there Oct 2012 and was able to take advantage of soft opens for Belle and Mermaid during the MNSSHP. I don't recall them being open during the day that week, but they may have been. The lines during the party night were not bad. Maybe they will open it only during evening EMH?

When did this 'FastPass Plus Offered' option appear on the WDW website?

I think I may be more excited to be able to walk the new Fantasyland without walls up as I am about this ride itself.

Can't wait to hear about the first riders reviews, very exciting!

Ooooh! This is definitely new! I haven't checked for a few days, but this is definitely a recent change! They are getting ready! (Of course, we've been saying that for a long time now!) ;)

i just love all the greenery. If it looks this great in pictures should be wonderful in person. in a few years when it grows in it will be amazing. Rapunzel's tower is growing in very nicely and looks great1
