Does anyone know if there are any prohibitions against hammocks and do the sites have enough room to set one up?

No rules against as long as is on your site. I say no rules, as I have not seen one listed personally. My hammock is the kind on a metal frame that you assemble. Not sure if you are referring to one of them or one to suspend between two trees.

Most sites have plenty of room for the one like I have.

DD set one up on our 2017 trip in site 116 (Preferred loop) and nobody said peep. As a campground the Fort is more lenient than others about attachments to trees (clotheslines, hammocks, etc).

I put one up back in October at the DisMeet during our whole stay in 1122 (Premium) and only fell out of it once.

So I say do it. It's just a matter of having enough big trees spaced far enough apart on your site.

The official Fort policy is nothing tied to trees. Do they enforce it, No for most of the time. With that said about a year ago there was some guests in the 1300 loop that set up a zip line in the center of the loop, very high in the trees and about 150' long. They (little kids and adults) used a ladder to climb up and take off from the highest point (30'), it took about 5 minutes for someone to call the FD and report it and about 3 minutes for Security to tell them to remove it. I have seen many hammocks up so I think you will be Okay. Have fun at the Fort.....

In October, there was a site in 2100 that had 4 camping (tent like) hammocks. Two sets, one on top of the other. No other tent on the site, so this was their accommodations.

I know some have stated there is a "no tying to trees", but the only thing I have ever found "officially" from Disney only refers to decorations. It does not address tents, hammocks, clothes lines, lanterns or any other non-decoration. Here is the link on that and I pasted below. A hammock is not a decoration (typically), so this rule wouldn't apply.
