The alarm went off and we were going to snooze but I never went back to sleep. It was worse than Christmas. All night long I kept waking up and wondering if it was time yet. We got ready and went down to breakfast. (bagel, granola bar) As we went into the main lobby the “Character Caravan” came in and out popped the Queen of Hearts and the Rabbit from Alice and Chip but no Dale. It was neat watching them. We were fortunate that the Magic Kingdom bus was already there. It was packed.
As you get to the MK There are several tents set up to look through your bags, then you can get in line to wait for the park opening. We had a short 20-minute wait, it gave us time to get ready for the park, and then they opened at 8:50, ten minutes early. We did Pooh 1st, twice, then Peter Pan, then Haunted Mansion, and finally Pirates with NO wait! The park was fairly empty. We took a break to get a Dole Whip, pineapple! It had just opened. It was, as always, very refreshing.
We decided to go to Small World next, no wait, and noticed the park was getting busy. So we went to Buzz Lightyear. There was a 25-minute wait but once we were inside it was OK. Seth saved the galaxy and I drove. No time to ride anything else so we started back, but first we needed one more picture of the Castle. We stopped by the bakery to tide us over until lunch. I got a chocolate bunt cake in the shape of Mickey, and Seth got a French Toast Log. It was INCREDIBLE, and very naughty! We shopped our way up Main Street and caught the monorail to the TTC where we caught another to Epcot. This one goes inside the park so we could see how empty is was. The parking lot was not even half full. It was neat to be up high and see our favorite rides from above.
We got in through bag check and headed for Akershus in Norway for lunch. Of course there were many stops for pictures, and we bought another Disney pin, one that is plastic, big and lights up at certain places in the parks and during the parades. At the restaurant there was no one there, even though it was 12:30. It’s a buffet and there were many things we tried, the smoked salmon was good and Seth tried the meatballs and whitefish, the desserts looked really good but we had already had our dessert at the MK. Overall it was good, but we wouldn’t go back anytime soon.
Seth and I went back to Futureworld and went by Test Track. The wait was 80 minutes! We walked around a bit there but soon went to try the new Imagination ride. (10 min. wait) They added a few more things and Figment is back. For the most part Figment is annoying but at the end you go through Figment’s house and it gets interesting. At the end is a big finale with about 10 figments singing the Imagination song, kind of funny in a “Small World” sort of way. After the ride you can play with some interactive things so we sent a “morphing” postcard. It takes a picture of you then you can add faces, animals, flowers, or words, and it morphs your picture into what you added. Then you email it home. Cool.
After imagination we did the Land (20-minute wait) and saw squash growing hydroponically. Then we walked to the Living Seas. They have done some improvements. The water looks bluer but you don’t take the ride under the tank like you used to. We saw a very large turtle and a ray, and also a dolphin. It was a nice cool place to relax. Next we walked to Spaceship earth but they had it closed for some reason so we went to Mouseworks and did some shopping. I got a hat and other nifty things.
It was getting close to dinnertime so we walked over to Le Cellier. We took our time and we were a little early when we got there. However we found that we could go right in. Last time we were there it was booked full and we had to wait. Sunday is not a very busy day though. Seth ordered a filet mignon with mushroom risotto. I had salmon with onions and corn. The fish was good and all of Seth’s was wonderful. We got Walt’s 100th Birthday cake, chocolate, and not bad but not anything special.
After dinner we walked around World Showcase, shopped in Canada where I got some perfume, took lots of pictures in England, had my picture taken in France with the Beast, and shopped a lot in Japan. It was time for the parade but the winds had picked up so they cancelled it. So we went back into the Japan store and shopped some more. I even got a pearl. You pick an oyster and they open it for you. Pretty neat. As time for Illuminations grew near Seth and I moved to the upper deck of the dept. store to watch. We got a cherry kaki-gori and relaxed and watched the Big Ball turn pretty colors. There weren’t a lot of people but there were enough that we had to guard our space. (35 minture before) Night fell as it started, just a shooting star across the lagoon. It was great to hear the music over the stereo system of the park. The balcony was a great place to watch. The Torii gate was silhouetted against the fire barge and was beautiful. All too soon it was over. We sat on a bench and watched everyone leave. It had turned into a beautiful night after a very hot and humid day, but thankfully there wasn’t any rain. As we walked out the park was almost empty. The fountain would go off every so often and the music was playing. The bus was waiting for us to take us back to the All Star Movies. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

Sounds like a perfect day! I've always found Sundays less crowded at Epcot too.:D

What a beautiful day!!!!!! I get chills when Illuminations starts - the music is so moving. I have the CD and listen to it all the time at home, but hearing it over the speakers at Epcot is amazing!!!!!
