He was across the street playing at the school playground. Becky called for him to come home. On his way home some of his friends were chasing him and he cam out of the gate without looking both ways. I see Becky standing in the door and start to scream, a scream only a mother can do. She starts yelling STOP< STOP, STOP. I was frozen. I actually could not move a muscle.
The car stops inches from him. He was crying, Becky was crying. I started to just shake. I was ok until I got him to T-Ball practice. Then I lost it.
I never ever want to go through that again.

It's so tough to stress the importance of this enough no matter how hard we, as parents, try.
I know that feeling so well! Kirk was out front, using his ramp with his bike. After he took off for the ramp, a car came flying around the corner (he didn't see it coming from behind). As he landed his jump, he veered a bit to the left...right into the path of the car, that wasn't even slowing down!!
(to me, kid + bike + ramp = press down the brake pedal!) I was on the front porch at the time and I let out such a scream!! Just because they get older, doesn't mean the danger is any less.
Give him an extra hug at bedtime from me!
