He was across the street playing at the school playground. Becky called for him to come home. On his way home some of his friends were chasing him and he cam out of the gate without looking both ways. I see Becky standing in the door and start to scream, a scream only a mother can do. She starts yelling STOP< STOP, STOP. I was frozen. I actually could not move a muscle.

The car stops inches from him. He was crying, Becky was crying. I started to just shake. I was ok until I got him to T-Ball practice. Then I lost it.

I never ever want to go through that again.

Oh how scary. Im so glad everything turned out okay. That is such a scary thing for a parent to have to go thru--and Seth too.

Oh wow, very scary Tony. I am just glad that Seth is okay!!!

Oh my goodness! That is so scary. Thank God he is ok.

I went through the same thing about a year ago. I had parked across the street to pick DS up at school. We carefully crossed and got to the car. While I was strapping his friend in his seatbelt, another classmate yelled across the street to Cam because he forgot his lunchbox. Cam just saw his lunchbox and bolted across the street, with a car coming. Its mostly a blur now, but I think I ran out after him and grabbed him back, while yelling like a maniac.
Dont worry, your heart will eventually stop racing, even if it takes a few days.

I bet you all had a heart that skipped a beat. That is really scary. So glad that Seth is okay.

How scary and how lucky that the car was able to stop! Cars and kids are such a scary combination, and I think this sort of thing happens way, wayyyyy more often than most people realize.

DS's best friend was run over by a car a year and a half ago. Thankfully, he is fine today, but they thought at first that he was not going to make it. Since then, we have found out that 2 more of his friends were hit by cars when they were younger. It's a VERY real danger that most parents and kids do not take seriously enough. I am constantly stressing to my kids to watch for cars, and they still will occassionaly dart out in front of them. We took Ryan to see his friend after he got run over (not just hit) by the car, and he remembers how terrible he looked and still doesn't watch like he should. :( It's so tough to stress the importance of this enough no matter how hard we, as parents, try.

Thank goodness he's ok!!:bounce: I know that feeling so well! Kirk was out front, using his ramp with his bike. After he took off for the ramp, a car came flying around the corner (he didn't see it coming from behind). As he landed his jump, he veered a bit to the left...right into the path of the car, that wasn't even slowing down!! (to me, kid + bike + ramp = press down the brake pedal!) I was on the front porch at the time and I let out such a scream!! Just because they get older, doesn't mean the danger is any less. Give him an extra hug at bedtime from me! :)

OMG! I hope you never have to go through that again! I have two dd's and this is one of my biggest fears! If I had a dollar for everytime I said, "are you looking for cars, watch where you are going" etc, I could easily finance a trip to WDW!

I know exactly how that feels too. You may be shaking for a while.
My dd did get hit by the car, but she was almost fine. I saw it and tried to jump out of my car while it was still going down the road with two babies in the back seat. Thank heavens for seatbelts.

Wow, Im glad hes ok

Once, my DC was babysitting me and my DS. My DM works right down the street, so me and my DC wanted to walk for a visit. My DS didnt. So we had the bright idea to push her down the street in a computer chair. Thankfully, she didnt get hurt, but I got yelled at so much after that, but Ill never forget my DM's face when we wheeled my little sister into her job in a chair!

Idiotic days...

Blinky;)

Thanks God he's OK. I had an experience like that a few years ago with my son and I still have nightmares about it. It really is a concern of mine because my son never seems to concentrate on the cars, he thinks that they will see him. Glad to hear everything is OK.

I'm glad that Seth is ok. That is just so scary when it happens.

Ashli almost got hit by a car when she was about 8 yrs old. She was standing next to me in a parking lot of the park and an aggrivated parent (I think her kid was on the softball team that dd and her team just beat and it was a yucky game, parential stupidity going on  ) was whipping around and just about got Ash. I saw what was going to happen and I reached out and clamped my hand on Ash's shoulder and literally picked her up and moved her back several inches. It was so fast and I would never have thought I had the strength in my hand to do that but I was so scared. Ashli started crying though because I hurt her shoulder pretty good in the process.

((hugs)) man..
Glad Seth is ok...
