Serving a Minor....IT HAPPENED!!

If alcohol is going to remain legal in this country the legal age needs to be dropped to 18. JMHO.

IMO it's a shame our police make time for these sting operations. Their time would be better served finding teen parties and busting those that try and drive home.

A friend at work's Daughter does this-she has been doing it for while. I think they do it about every other month. She does it for cigarettes.

When we were in college (10 years ago :faint: ) DH worked at a local gas/beer station. He was ticketed during a police sting for selling beer to a minor. The guy was 20 and was using a fake ID provided to him by the police. If I remember correctly, the fine was about $150. It really ticked DH off that he was ticketed because of the fake. The good fake IDs are sometimes difficult to differentiate from the real ones.

Won't happen to me. I card everyone who looks 35 and under, we are repeatedly told to at the restaurant I work for. There are stings all the time. Alot of minors do try to get away with it by telling me/us "well I don't have my I.D. with me" and that's an automatic "sorry, I cannot serve you with I.D. on you're person", even IF they LOOK over 21, you cannot serve them without seeing an I.D.

personally I think most 18 year olds are way too immature to be out drinking. It's bad enough they are out on the road hopefully not drinking, but add that to the mix @@. I can't imagine they will ever go back to having the drinking age at 18 again. I'm sure there are already plenty of 18 year old already drinking out there anyway. And, yes they should crack down on them.

If they ever do drop the age limit, they should make them have intense alcohol awareness classes beforehand.

We did plenty of these at the PD too. The cops were, of course, never allowed in...so we had a system of running all the vehicles license plates. When the owner information came back...the dispatcher's got to call the parents. I was a well paid tattletale! Most parents would come to where the party was at and either drag their kid out by their hair or just remove the car so the kid wouldn't be able to drive it drunk. I thought this was an excellent way to combat the teenage game of nah-nah-a-boo-boo with the cops...

When DH and I were young we went to a bar that served underage people. I swear, if a 4 year old could reach the counter with his $2, he'd have been served. That was 15-20 years ago, but the place is still going strong and well-known for serving teens and 20 year olds.

I think it is really silly that an 18 year old can't go out and drink a beer...legally.

But that's just me.
