Service Dog Pass?

I have 2 questions in response to this… (we have done WDW 3 times with our SD.

1. What kind of security is used for the crates? Can anyone go up and get the dog out/interact with it? Our dog (and all SD's) are very valuable…

2. Perhaps the DAS for the SD is to track dogs that are not behaving in the park? I have seen many dogs at WDW that I am SURE have not passed the public access test. Just an idea… I know that WDW are great supporters of SD's, but nothing irritates me more than seeing a fat old basset hound that can barely walk barking its head off at us with a HANDWRITTEN sign saying SERVICE DOG on it.

We are going to WDW Dec 18-26. Will post about our travels with SD and the new DAS system when we get back.

This is what is the real problem, People sneaking their pets in as service or therapy dogs...............Not good for the dogs or other guests.:confused3

The problem is you have no way of knowing if a dog is a service dog there are so many breeds being used as service dogs now. I try to stay positive and always believe they are. There are so many people that have judged me and I just can't bring myself to judge others

Thank you all for your responses. We are looking forward for more info as we prepare for our 1st trip to WDW with our new SD. My DD is very nervous about bringing him.

Any recent experiences at WDW will be great to hear about.

Thanks again to all of you and Happy Thanksgiving.

We have been to WDW 3 times with our daughter and her service dog. We have never had any problems. I'm not sure when you are going to be there but if it's in the summer, I have a few tips for you. We have boots for the dog because of how hot the pavement gets. The ones we have are called Mutt Luks. We also have a cooling vest for the dog. On the day we plan to go to Animal Kingdom, we kennel the dog. We don't want any problems with all the other animals. We haven't been there since they introduced the ride kennels so I don't have any info on them. We always did a rider swap. Hope this helps. Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

We too usually kennel our SD one day and treat him to a pampered day off. With the dog virus/infection going around my husband is now scared too. We also have used swaps in the past and hope to continue. It is a comfort thing for us to know where he is and who is near him.
