Seriously? You can take your double jogging stroller?

I had always assumed that Disney would turn away double jogging strollers at the gates. After reading several posts of late, I see my thinking is flawed.

For those of you who have taken your double jogging strollers into the parks, which stroller did you use?

Also, can you really gate check a double jogging stroller?

We had planned to take the Mac Techno with the buggy board for our two youngest boys, 2 yo and 5 yo. I'm also strongly thinking of bringing the old Peg Perego along just in case the 5 yo is wanting a stroller more than I anticipate. But if I could just take the double jogging stroller that would save me all kinds of headaches.

As long as it isn't the bike trailer kind -- THOSE are banned.

PS: The very best double jogger for hauling around WDW isn't made anymore, but it is great because it folds like an umbrella stroller; really small for a jogger. It's the Kelty Deuce Coupe, and you can still sometimes find them on eBay, etc.

I've brought a Valco Trimode Twin. (more all Terrain than jogging, but same idea). I did gate check the Valco. I bought the stroller bag for it, packed it at the gate and checked it.

We have been considering buying a jogging stroller to take to the World. We currently have a Graco tandem, and it is WAY too hard to push. Especially since they've grown. So, I was wondering for those of you that have taken the stroller to Disney, how well does it push through crowds, and shops? Is it hard to fold up and load on a bus?

We opted to buy a side by side graco at a garage sale and bring that instead of our double-jogger. At least with ours - it was too bulky even after folding it down (just due to the larger wheels mostly) and would make it that much more of a pain to haul up onto the bus and then hold the whole time on the bus. So we much preferred the side by side. It was very compact when folded and that is very convenient when the bus is crowded and there are 5 people all around you and you're trying not to drop the stroller or hit anyone with it.

Anyway- that is my only caution. If you are using Disney bus system - try unfolding it and folding it and 'pretend' holding onto it and brining it onto a bus (like take it through your house doorway a bunch of times) - if it isn't too cumbersome - go for it. Otherwise, reconsider.

We won't be using the busses, but I hadn't thought about the water launch with a huge stroller. Ugh, we'd have to fold the beast up. Now I'll have to rethink this (again).

Well, are you driving to some parks? Don't forget the parking trams are very tight with a stroller too.

I just have to comment that I went to Sea World last week, and was in line with a lady with a bike stroller (is that what it's called? the kind that attaches to the back of a bike?) anyways, it had a huge hook arm thing out front, and she ran into at least 5 people with it during our time in line. it was too short for her to push, and she was trying to lean over, manuever it around people, while her son was climbing in and out...LOL I felt so bad for her, I think (and hope) she was considering throwing that thing back in the car and renting a stroller...or letting the kids walk!

eta: i have no problems with stroller or bike strollers, just not sure when she decided that it would be a good idea to try and push that thing through a crowded park all day...

The last two trips I've taken my double jogger. It is no bigger than the rentals. It's way more comfortable and convenient. Mine's a Schwinn. Hugely important is the swivel front wheel. Ours also has the front wheel under the footrest rather than sticking out a mile in front; it's also not that extra large wheel that so many joggers have. Mine folds flat, but is still larger. It would cover two seats in the busses, but doesn't stick out. I have no problems with it and with DS#1 not only being older, but tremendously tall and DS#2 being tiny and then having yet another, it has been the biggest godsend.

It is soft and comfortable. The little two are used to it--familiarity. It has side pockets, cup holders, a decent size basket below, removable seat cushions, a large canopy, a rain cover, a sun shade, peek-a-boo windows, the seat recline/adjust individually, and five point harnesses. It can hold a larger child and a smaller child easily--or two of each. I've had the two little ones in each seat and my older one taking a break on the footrest with no problems. I've had several people comment at WDW and other places that they envy me my stroller.

It wheels onto the ferry and most the boat launches (provided not too crowded, actually the WL, FW one doesn't matter). It also just wheels onto the handicap car of the monorail. I'm not sure about the trams because when we drove, we just walked to the gate--usually beating the trams.

Someone else on here a while back bought the same stroller and had no issues with it either. We had lots of discussions on it. They gate checked theirs in a stroller bag. The only trick is that you have to lock the front wheel before folding it to keep it more compact and easy to carry.

If you do take a double jogger--or any stroller for that matter--make sure if you are going to fold it, to have it folder prior to getting in lines for any busses!!

On a side note, it's great for when the wheel is locked and it is being used as a jogger too. While not a mall stroller, it is my very favorite stroller. Beats the Peg Pergo every time, imo. That thing moves like a dream, even when all three are using it.

Don't bring a jogger is the front wheel doesnt pivot. People stop on a dime or cut you off too often not to be able to turn your stroller on the drop of a dime.

We've used our Mountain Buggy Urban Double (MBUD) twice and never had a problem. It steers like a dream! We do drive to WDW from Toronto, Canada, and we drive to all the parks. It does fold small enough to fit on the parking trams, but we've never used the busses.

I have never loved a material posession so much! I took it to Disney three times and it was awesome! I did have to take it apart for gate check which wasn't that bad. I just used some bungee cords to keep everything together so it didn't break while they were handling it, and so they didn't get hurt! And I did not have to take it apart for the monorail or the ferry. It fits through most doors, and I was able to take it into the stores no problem. In fact, unlike most double joggers, there was never a time that I didn't fit into a store anywhere! We are not bringing it this year just because we want to rent a smaller car, and the kids are older and it will be nice to just lug around the double umbrella.

But I have a serious case of stroller love for my jogger! I actually feel like I'm betraying it right now by bringing the umbrella...the guilt is killing me!

I have a tandum (side by side) BOB stroller. They call it a "Dualie" and it actually folds up pretty well. We don't have a bag for it but we do have the rain/bug shield in case the weather is bad. The bag under this is great and easy to get to.

It canNOT be attached to a bike. The front wheel does not pivot, but when I was researching these I decided against a pivoting wheel.

What do you think? Too much trouble?

Otherwise we'll take our Peg Perego Pliko 3 Classico (we've loved this stroller for many years and it's been to WDW before). It folds up like like an umbrella and has a handle for carrying. We've got the Peg stroller bag to use for the plane and this stroller has the rain cover and the sun shade. It also has a foot bar on the back for an older child to ride (which really saves Dad's shoulders!). The down side is the bag underneath: it can hold a lot but isn't as easy to get to as some of the other bucket-type bags under some strollers.

Anyone want to make a suggestion as to which would be the best? We've got two toddlers under 5.

Yes! I HATE those! They are ridiculous in a crowd and not at all practical. We saw a family loading some time of double on our flight last year and it was bigger than a shopping cart. Absolutely massive. DH and I just shook our heads.

Well, LoveTwoTravel, I'm back to being undecided like you. I think the more information I get the more I flip-flop, esp. hearing that the double jogging stroller will fit on the boats to FW.

I'm just not sure how much I'm going to have the two little boys by myself at the parks. As our kids are so spread out in age, I don't know how much my dh will be with the oldest ds. (The last time we went the oldest ds took a friend, so it wasn't an issue.) I hate to get stuck with two strollers or two tired kids neither of which want to stand (even just to the car or boat).

I think I'm going to bring the jogging stroller into the house and try driving it around the main level of the house, should give me an idea of the manuverability.

I'm bringing my Valco Roundabout Trimode Twin in 15 days. DD will be 19mos and DS 6 mos. When I was in WDW last year I saw a few families with it and while it is a bit big when folded they all commented that maneuvering was great and the kids were comfy. I would agree that it is a bit big when folded but thekids are comfortable in it.

Look at my sig and you will see how many times we've taken a double stroller/jogger to Disney! Our twins are 4 now and we're taking our jogger again in a few weeks. And again in the summer. It is actually not as wide as the double strollers you rent in Disney, so the size should not be an issue for most double joggers. We have a Baby Jogger right now. In the past, we took a Dreamer Design double jogger. Love both. We normally stayed at resorts where we took the monorail or walked or took boats to parks. It's very easy on the monorail to just roll the jogger right on, same with boats. The times that we do take the bus (mainly for just AK....), we simply fold the jogger and hold it at our 2 seats while putting our 2 kids on our laps. We take up as little space as possible. It's not totally convenient, LOL, but it works okay.

i am fixing to get a jeep brand jogging stroller for my dd2...it has a front wheel that turns and speakers lol for a cd player, a rain cover...it is cool and it folds with one hand...
