seriously people???

I'm so happy that Frito Lay is re-thinking the sunchips bag. It's loud, very loud, and the "feel" of it is awful too. It's great to be Eco-friendly, but if Frito-Lay wants my money they need to make me happy - or at least not make me cringe. I admire that they are taking customer feedback so seriously - that's good capitalism at work.

Did anyone hear a loud you thought sunchips bags loud scream from the midwest?

Please, please go and do some serious reading in science and History while you are at it and throw a little geography in also. There are so many mis statements in this post I don't know where to start.

Here's a goody and I bet most don't know but do you know we have more standing forest NOW in the US than we did a century ago?

Our forefathers were not conservers they used what they wanted and didn't think about the future at all- ever hear of the near extinction of the bisons from over hunting?

How about the dust bowl from over planting?

How about lakes so polluted you could walk on them?

Air so thick with smoke you had to wash your windows every morning if you wanted to see out?

we aren't running out of places to store our trash we are running out of cheap places close to populated areas. this country has so much open space we could put trash on it for 100's of years. Of course the best thing we could do would be burn it for energy but the uninformed make too big of a stink when that is proposed

PS. one of the reasons there is more trash in the landfills in the last 50 yrs is DUH we don't burn it anymore!!! and more population nothing else. they didn't used to store their trash they burned it.

We take better care of the earth now than ever and the world is a much, much cleaner than it was 100 yrs ago.

This post is so obnoxious I don't even know where to start.

Perhaps you should go read some history. Try some current environmental studies while you're at it.

The world is not "much, much" cleaner than it was 100 years ago.

What has happened is that we have moved on to more invisible pollutants. You're right, we don't have to wipe smoke dust off of our windows, but we have to absorb frightening amounts of particle pollution, toxic metals, and ozone.

Yes, we do take better care of our COUNTRY but many places in the world have no environmental laws to speak of.

Really? :confused3

From the American Lung Association:

7.Don't burn wood or trash. Burning firewood and trash are among the major sources of particle pollution (soot) in many parts of the country. If you must use a fireplace or stove for heat, convert woodstoves to natural gas, which produces far fewer emissions.

I guess they're just some of the "uninformed" you're referring to?

I bet you think climate change is just a fairy tale, right?:rolleyes1

Sorry to go OT, but when the ALA says "don't burn trash" they mean out in the open. Waste to energy incenerators have particulate filters and are regulated by the EPA. That is a realistic way to help with the trash problem.

Nitwit here. We stopped buying them because of the noisy bag. Not that we wanted them to go back to the old planet-killing bags or were making a political statement. When we were in the chip aisle choosing chips, the kids would say, "Mom, please don't buy Sunchips in the noisy bag, it hurts our ears!!" I'd agree that the bag hurts my ears too, we'd laugh about it and we'd buy something else.

I guess I can see why they're changing the packaging and maybe they'll now discover a great packaging solution that's biodegradable AND pleasing for consumers to actually have in their cupboards.

That is me. I don't have sensitive ears, I love loud music, but the pitch of that bag actually hurt my ears and gave me a headache. It was the most obnoxious sound I think I have ever heard.

Actually your right climate change if you are referring to "global warming" is just a fairy tale!!!! It has been disproved time and time again.

And you are uninformed or you wouldn't have thought that is how they burn trash for energy.

And the air is cleaner than it was when I was a child, factories do not pollute the air in this country, in fact most plants put out cleaner air than they take in.

I'm not claiming that our ancestors never made mistakes. Of course they did. You're right. Peope used to burn trash. Our government used to test nuclear weapons in populated areas too. But they stopped when they discovered the horrific affects. That's the wonderful thing about the human species. We learn from our mistakes. (well, some of us do) :thumbsup2

OK, so the bottom line is that you say things are "better" today than they were 100 years ago. I disagree with you, but that's beside the point. So let's go with your argument...If things truly are better as you say, then they're better because people opened their eyes and realized the harmful things they were doing to our planet. They realized that the way they were doing things wasn't working, so they found better ways.

And 100 years ago, there was less trash because the products that were used weren't processed and packaged the way they are today. So each person produced a LOT less waste than the average person today. It wasn't all due to the fact that there were less people.

But either way, we as a species have made progress by learning from our mistakes. By ignoring the possible (proven) implications of our actions, we're taking backward steps instead of moving forward.

Oh! And my knowledge of science, geography and history is just fine. But thanks for your concern! ;)

Well, I learned something new today - I am a nitwit.

I hate those stupid bags. :headache:

The bag is really loud ! With that being said I continued to buy them and everytime I picked up a bag of them I knew that may be the last time I was able to get them . LOL

WHAT??? We love that bag.....we will buy sunchips FOR the bags because we love to crinkle them. lol A running joke in our family is also comments about never being able to sneak a chip because the bag is so loud. That's lame, leave the bag alone! lol

Discovery Channel did a show on landfills. They were surprised at items that had been buried 40 or 50 years that they dug up had little if no decomposition. Not enough oxygen, apparently. So if a compostable bag goes to the landfill, just like a noncompostable bag, it won't break down.
So why bother?
If they got enough complaints, and sales fell enough, seems like it was a lousy idea on all three fronts.

So Frito Lay is getting rid of the Biodegradable "better for the plant" bag that its Sunchips come in b/c there have been too many compaints about the noise it makes. This seriously makes me mad... People suck it up!! Isn't our planet worth it?!

Nitwit consumers can't pour the chips in a bowl??

Are you serious? I think your user name says it all.
