seriously people???

And yet the world is how old? and we continue to survive.

As the dinosaurs would tell you, don't worry about the planet. The planet will always survive. It's the residents who won't survive.

Does vinegar leave a "vinegar" smell??? I would use it, but I hate the smell..

Yeah it does, but if you smelled my kids rooms you wouldn't care, between the Tae Kwon do uniforms and the smelly gym shoes, I will take vinegar.

Seriously, it works great on mirrors along with new paper. No streaks and no fuzzies. And you use your newspaper for more than one thing. Now that is a good thing to me.

Are you seriously comparing us to dinosaurs. And yet they didn't have to recycle or worry about global warming and look what happened to them.

I think we all need to recycle as much as we can and not waste as much as we can, that is just good common sense. Again, I can't go any further as this would turn political.

That's what I'm saying. People talk about "saving the planet," but what they really mean is "saving the people." If people screw up the planet to the point that all the people die, the planet itself will not die. It will clean itself up and carry on.

Gotcha. I see what you are saying, still don't really agree with it. But I understand. I just really don't see it getting to that point with what we know. Like I said, I am for using common sense, I won't buy into all the scare tactics.

That article was terrible.

And yet the good part of the article was in the hook.

A consumer revolt sends biodegradable plastic back to the lab

They haven't given it up, they are reworking it.

From the commercialappeal page linked from salon...

The bags for this product line are still being developed, and we are bound by confidentiality agreements with our customers not to discuss them.

and

Frito-lay is "still very committed" to the biodegradable bag, he said. "It's available in our original flavor bag now. We're working to develop the next generation bag that responds to the feedback we've received from consumers."

So for now they'll put the other flavors in the old bag, but it's all still being worked out.

1) That bag is REALLY loud
2) Sun Chips are disgusting

I so totally agree!

It was insanely loud.

Yep.

My brother (with even more sensitive hearing than I have) and sis in law buy them, and they are just SO loud. It's like there's an amplifier in them!

And I just love how they try to market them as some kind of "healthy" chip. Bollocks!

True! Figured that out when they first came out while I was in college and I started gaining weight, and finally read the ingredients!

But I never bought into them being healthy.

I'm sure you would be surprised how many people DO think that they are healthy...

Haven't been to a movie theater in a very long time...do they not sell Sunchips?

I've never seen them for sale at a theater.

Yep seriously, I bought one bag of those things and refused to buy another unless they changed the bag back. It was horrible. Even my kids who love Sunchips told me not to buy anymore.
Yes, it was obnoxiously loud. For me, it was almost like nails on a chalkboard.

I actually really enjoy Sun Chips, but haven't bought them in forever because of those darn bags!

We try to be green by recycling everything and doing our part BUT I am so glad they are getting rid of those bags. LOL Those things are SOO loud. We love Sunchips and wouldn't stop buying them because of the bag but they were annoying to say the least.

I can't be the only person that wants to purchase a bag of Sun Chips after reading this thread to see how loud they really are, can I? :)

Nitwit here. We stopped buying them because of the noisy bag. Not that we wanted them to go back to the old planet-killing bags or were making a political statement. When we were in the chip aisle choosing chips, the kids would say, "Mom, please don't buy Sunchips in the noisy bag, it hurts our ears!!" I'd agree that the bag hurts my ears too, we'd laugh about it and we'd buy something else.

I guess I can see why they're changing the packaging and maybe they'll now discover a great packaging solution that's biodegradable AND pleasing for consumers to actually have in their cupboards.

Humans haven't always been as wasteful and greedy as we are now. That's a relatively new development (as in over the last century or so). Our ancestors actually knew how to live minimally and with little waste. We can thank them for saving the planet for us to enjoy, but we're kidding ourselves if we don't think that the things we do now will affect future generations. We already have a global solid waste crisis. We're running out of places to store our trash. And the scary thing is that most of the trash in our landfills came from the last half century!! So yes. We have survived as a planet for a really really long time. But again, no other generation of humans has ever been more abusive to the planet than we are today. And it's only getting worse. Our childrens' children are the ones who will suffer.
But we won't be around, so who cares.

ETA: Don't get me wrong. I'm not foolish enough to think that a few biodegradable chip bags are going to save the planet. But society's general attitude of personal comfort over concern for the world as a whole is discouraging.

Did anyone hear a loud you thought sunchips bags loud scream from the midwest?

Please, please go and do some serious reading in science and History while you are at it and throw a little geography in also. There are so many mis statements in this post I don't know where to start.

Here's a goody and I bet most don't know but do you know we have more standing forest NOW in the US than we did a century ago?

Our forefathers were not conservers they used what they wanted and didn't think about the future at all- ever hear of the near extinction of the bisons from over hunting?

How about the dust bowl from over planting?

How about lakes so polluted you could walk on them?

Air so thick with smoke you had to wash your windows every morning if you wanted to see out?

we aren't running out of places to store our trash we are running out of cheap places close to populated areas. this country has so much open space we could put trash on it for 100's of years. Of course the best thing we could do would be burn it for energy but the uninformed make too big of a stink when that is proposed

PS. one of the reasons there is more trash in the landfills in the last 50 yrs is DUH we don't burn it anymore!!! and more population nothing else. they didn't used to store their trash they burned it.

We take better care of the earth now than ever and the world is a much, much cleaner than it was 100 yrs ago.

I can't be the only person that wants to purchase a bag of Sun Chips after reading this thread to see how loud they really are, can I? :)

Nope. I'm going to have to run over to Subway so I can hear them in person. :rotfl:
