Disney does not miss a trick.

They are now charging you if you need a time extension on your Photopass pictures. Photopass pictures are stored on the site for 30 days after you enter your card number and access your photos. I have emailed them twice before in the past to get an extension because I was still editing my pictures, both times they gave me a 7 day extension. Now a 7 day exentsion costs $4.95 and a 15 extension costs $9.95! :faint:

That is just amazing to me. Especially because both times I requested an extension it was partly due to the fact that half the time when I tried to edit my pictures, the site was down, or it was sooooooooooooooooooooo slow I could only edit a few pictures or the borders weren't working or something. One time I tried for 3 days and all I got was "Sorry, Come Back Later."

I love Photopass, but they just raised the price on it and took away the pre-order deal and now this? I don't think I'll be doing the CD in the future.

They are really raising "nickel and diming" someone to death into an art form.

Its easier and allmost free to take your own pictures with your own camra and burn them to a CD your self

I know, but the Photopass people have taken some really great pictures for me and I love adding the borders and stuff you can do on the site. And I love the shots where they add in Tinkerbell or Mickey, ect....one of my favorite pics is when we went to MNSSHP and got our picture with a ghost at the HM.

I just wish we could get our hands on those borders & characters, then we wouldn't need that darn Photopass money pit! Nickel & dime is right:mad:

I don't understand why they would charge you, especially since you are buying the photos.

They are starting to nickel and dime alittle too much. What will it be next....restrooms? :confused3

This one I actually understand..

They are giving you free webspace for 30 days by storing those pictures, after that they are asking you to pay for the space you are using. While webspace has gotten cheap, can you imagine what the costs would be if the hundreds of thousands who use photopass kept extending the hold indefinitely??

I would even mind paying for storage of photos if it was a reasonable length for a reasonable time. And if buying the photos was reasonable.

4.95 for 7 days. That is ridiculous. 4.95 should cover a whole year.

But what is the point in storing them at all with the prices the way they are. You can print 4x6 photos are Target or Walmart for about 15 cents a photo. But through Photo pass, it is several dollars. (sorry, don't know the price off hand)

So really, the CD is the only way to go. So you can print somewhere else. But at its price, it generally works out to around 10 bucks a photo. Too much for a photo.

I can get this too :)

As a first time user of photopass I know the rest of the family were pleased that I was actually there with them ;) Whereas most other holidays I am no where to be seen :rolleyes1

We came home with 240 photopass photos and with borders etc this translated into over 800 photos on 3 cd's.
I have been getting them printed locally whenever there is an offer on :thumbsup2

Oh man - I'm totally behind. They took away the pre-order discount? Anybody got a link to the irate DIS thread about that for me? :teeth:

I'm with Kelly and Reid. You have 30 days to enter the code and another 30 days to do what you want with the pics. I feel that is plenty of time. You need more time, you should pay for it.

I missed this bit of your post.

The pre-order deal is still there it is just not as visible. Here it is

I noticed this too, I didn't actually realise you could ask for an extension (in previous years I've been up late to try and get them ordered in time :headache:)

I suspect lots of people were getting an extension so due to guest demand they impose a cost :rotfl:

I think 30 days is enough, at least it isn't 30 days after the last pic was taken.

I do think the price is a bit steep though.

I am as frugal as they come. And all the price hiking is making me sick.

However, I think this is an AWESOME thing. I've bought the cd the last 2 times we went to the world. Once as the organizer of a swap. I was under the impression that you got 30 days...and then your images were lost forever. Now I know that if there is some great issue and I can't get it all together after 60 days (30 to enter codes + 30 to "edit") then I may still be in luck. For me, the borders aren't all that and I'd probably just order it anyway with out the clip art in the corner. But I'd pay 5 bucks to offer myself an extension.

I guess it's kind of like asking a hotel if you could stay in it longer instead of checkout by 10. The hotel says yes to you. However, I still have to be out by 10 since I didn't ask. No good. I'd rather have the hotel say up front: if you want to stay until 4 instead, you can. But it's an extra $25 bucks. The one getting it for free would be frustrated (maybe rightfully so) the one who was out by 10 with all the luggage in the hallway to meet the deadline would be happy (rightfully so) to know the option existed. The type A who checked out by 9:30 to avoid any confusion would be ecstatic (most rightfully so) to know that they weren't subsidizing the one who stays late, and the lateleaver would have to cover the additional cost.

My experience has been closest to the "luggage in the hall" above. So no name calling.

I was never one to EVER ask for an extension on a paper in college either...so maybe I'm missing out on something.

No ill will meant by any of this,
rob

This irritates me...but only for one reason...

It takes them FOREVER to email me back. And when they do...they give stock responses that don't answer my question.

I am fine with them charging...as long as no correspondence has been received.

I pre-paid for my Photopass...attempted to order 2 weeks before they expired and it took an extra week just to get them to help me actually place the order (they had to reset my order number?)...

I have purchased Photopass 3 times this year and I love the service. It is hard to take pictures of myself. They have also captured WONDERFUL moments...when my friend was in the American Idol show and when we opened the Magic Kingdom...so I was glad I had pre-paid!

More increases? Are they serious????:confused3

You know, if their website worked all the time and if it worked at a reasonable pace I might agree. My experience is that it does NOT and I highly doubt hundreds of thousands who use Photopass are using extensions.
It's no easy feat to get an extension now....believe me! You have to email them and then wait forever to email you back. The only reason I even knew you could get an extension is because when I went to finish up and order my CD once my pictures were gone. I was 2 weeks away from the 30 days, but still no pictures. I emailed twice, finally got a response, by the time they found my pictures and restored them to my account it was 2 days before they were set to expire, but they gave me a 7 day extension.

You have to find time to sit down and edit pictures, I can't even tell you how many times the website was down when I sat down to work on them.

Yes, 30 days is a generous amount of time....when everything is working properly. And $4.95 for 7 days is ridiculous. Maybe I could see $4.95 for 30 more days.
